PRODUCT DESCRIPTION Vacu Vin Champagne Saver and Pourer AMAZON.COM A glass of champagne is one of life’s finest pleasures, but for many of us, more than that adds up to a headache served in a stylish flute. But what to do with those opened and unfinished bottles? Like wine, champagne both changes its taste and loses its heavenly bubbles when exposed to air. The Vacu Vin champagne saver solves the problem with a unique locking design that re-seals the bottle after every use. Simply raise the lever to open and pour; the surface of the Vacu Vin prevents drips and returns excess champagne to the bottle. Closing the same lever keeps the champagne fresh and full of bubbles, letting you enjoy the same bottle for several days without wasting a drop. --Mary Park

The only Pourer that Really Works
We open at least a bottle of champagne a week, maybe more often. I've owned all kinds of stoppers, but this is the only one I truly adore. Indeed, there is NO champagne stopper that will fit ALL necks, unfortunately. You have to own many brands, from skinny necked to thick necked. This pourer, however, fits "most" necks, meaning it is somewhat standard. Do exercise patience when fitting the ring down and closing the pourer tight; you want it to completely seal. We NEVER finish a bottle of champagne in one sitting; and since our bottles often cost $50 or more, the bubbles must be just as fine as the first pour, four days previously. Sometimes I open a bottle just for myself, and enjoy just a few ounces every day. Each pour must be divine as the last. We have owned this model for at least a decade, and pick up an extra one whenever we are placing an order on a site that sells it. We affectionately dub it the Darth Vader Helmet, and have one in the glove compartment of each car. There is only one disadvantage to this model; it creates a helmet that is TALLER than any of the others. To keep it in the refrigerator door, you have to rearrange other things so that the bottle leans slightly. It is well worth the inconvenience, however.

There are design flaws
I recently started to collect champagne and i wanted a stopper to save the champagne for a later date. I looked online and this seemed to have a promising concept and looked quite nice. When I received it in the mail, I took the time to analyze it. While aesthetically, it is pleasing to the eye and the ball valve works amazing, the mechanism for grasping the annular bulge at the opening of the champagne bottle does not work. The latch design is not large enough to have a greater surface area contact with this annular bulge. To test this out, I had placed this on an empty bottle of Dom Perignon and Armand De Brignac. While on the bottles, the saver did remain on while tilting and shaking it around (at this point in time I had only tested with water), but they device could easily be removed without having to slide up the locking mechanism. To verify what forces the latch could withstand, I had filled the bottle with Coca-Cola. This had allowed the carbonation to build up pressure, similar, if not more, than what is produced by champagne. After 30 minutes, and the bottle laying on it's side, the champagne saver had popped right off and spilled the soda out of the bottle. After this testing failed, I had tried with a more conventional champagne stopper that had wing designed latch that had passed initial testing. Hopefully this helps in why people are giving this bad reviews. VacuVin needs to improve their testing and maybe hire actual Mechanical Engineers to design this.

My Favorite Thing
This is my newest obsession and favorite thing, every time I go to grab this to use it for my champagne I get excited, because before I use to have to finish off a bottle the day I opened it until I found this item, now I know that when I use it that I only have to have one glass and then keep it in my fridge for weeks and it still taste just as fresh and good as when I first opened it, it seals very well and is extremely easy to put on and remove for washing when your done, it is still working great after about a year and no complaints, you can tell that it is made very well and very sturdy which I love, most things now days just look cheap and like they would fall apart really fast but not this, and it is easy to use.

Works wonderfully to keep bubbles bubbly!
Only great things to report from this stopper. It's easy to use, and there's no unexpected "popping off" like other champagne corks. Once it's on and you slip the security ring down, that's it. I adore the silver handle which lets you open the bottle to pour - way less expression of precious bubbles. It's a really great stopper.

Why didn't I create the best accessory for champagne drinkers... ever!?!
Liked: EVERYTHING! Disliked: Not a thing! Best thing ever for champagne drinkers! Buying one for my mimosa buddies who really like being able to stretch out a bottle over several days. Previously I have used my vacu-vin to seal the bottles which did okay.. but nothing like this. Use is easy to learn how, just read the instructions. I'll update the durability stars later after using for longer-it WILL get a workout!

Great
This was a present for my husband. He likes it and says it pours well, keeps pressure in, and fits on his favorite bottles. It's also nice that you don't have to completely remove it to pour, just open the lever, pour, and put it back down to minimize time bubbles can escape. Champagne doesn't last long in our house, so we haven't tested its limits, but it has done a great job for the couple days we do occasionally keep champagne in the fridge.

Repeat purchase, but poor packaging
We love this combination bottle sealer and pour spout for bubbles. The unit presses into the top of a champagne (or similar) and serves as a pouring spout, and a flip over handle moves over to seal but moves back to allow pouring. That said, we bought this second one as a gift and it was packaged quite poorly in a mailing envelope which allowed the box to be crushed. Then we removed the item from the box to see if we could salvage the packaging and found a substance on the unit, like an oil had dried on or excess glue from something had dripped down the side. Regardless, its not appearing to be new. Still, we repurchased because if we get a good unit in a good box it will be an outstanding addition to a gift we're giving.

Highly recommend! Great quality and the best at preserving Champaigne!
I have one myself and it is great for keeping open Champaigne bubbly for a long time. I like the pour spout so you don't have to remove the top. Follow the directions in installing and removing so you don't damage it. I damaged my first one by forcing it off, which was totally my fault. I bought another one and kept the directions since I don't use it every week and it has held up very well. I bough these two as gifts. Highly recommend.

Great Idea but does not work for all bottles.
Having used vacu vin wine savers we had great hopes for this champagne saver which is a fab idea. Pros: Worked well with our first bottle and the champagne still had its fizz a day later when we finished it off. Fairly simple to use. Not too bulky Cons: Unfortunately on the second attempt at use the small plastic grips/ hooks that attach to the bottle would not attach and the saver could not therefore be used for that paticular brand. This champagne saver may only work with certain types / sizes of bottle - we have since found a saver that works simply with an expanding stopper that goes into the bottle and seems to be a superior design.

A must for Champagne, Proseco, sparkling wines.
Does a great job. Can be a little difficult to put on but, once it's on, it works great. Opened a bottle of Proseco on Sunday. Had one glass. Installed the Vacu Vin and put the bottle in the fridge. Had a glass on the following Friday and it was perfect.

Is better for wine bottle
I’m not too sure if I really like this item for champagne has it doesn’t close well for champagne bottles like it does for wine.

Solid investment
Does what it is supposed to. So far it has kept bubbles for up to a week, at which point there was no more champagne left :)

Handy little champagne cork
Very easy to use, seems very durable too. Easy to slide up the silver piece to pour, and slide back down to seal. Very happy with this!
