Overpriced Gym Bag?
I've had the Vertx Go Pack on my Amazon Wishlist for just about a year now, and never pulled the trigger because of the high price. Well, around my birthday if finally dropped in price to $40, and since it was my birthday, I decided to gift myself my the Go Pack in Reed/Smoke Grey. My initial impression of the Vertx Go Pack was like receiving a cool, promotional bag at a trade show or a bonus item if you bought $250 worth of Vertx products. It's not cheap quality, but it's just doesn't feel like a standalone product. I've owned a variety of ultralight, packable backpacks from Marmot, REI, Salomon and Northface. I typically go for a "rucksack" style backpack because of the top flap which acts as the rain cover over the drawstring compartment. For the first issue, I noticed immediately on the Vertx Go Pack is that the top flap is facing the opposite direction. Typically, the flap of a rucksack is sewn down at the top of the shoulder straps. This is an interesting design decision for the Go Pack because rain can get inside the pack. The second issue is while closing the pack, the spring-loaded drawstring system can bind up if you don't pull the drawstring back in quick, full motion. The nylon material bunches up around the spring-loaded closure, and this cause it to pinch the drawstring and stop the closure of the pack. If you pull it fast, it will cinch up about 90%. But, if you pull it slow, it'll bind up before it's halfway closed. If you push the material away from the spring-loaded closure, then you can finish cinching it up. The big differentiator with Go Pack versus other ultralight backpacks is the FULL hook and loop (Velcro) on the internal back panel. It allows you to fasten lots of different pouches, straps, and molle panels. That is pretty darn cool. And, instead of a water bladder pouch, Vertx dubbed their extra internal pocket to be a "shove-it pouch." The air mesh harness (straps) and sternum/waist straps are all on par with other brands. So is it worth the money? I think it really comes down to if you just want to support the Vertx and are a fan of their brand. I think the reason why I will be returning this bag and renaming it the Vertx Go Back, is due to the flap design, something that can be easily changed in an updated version.

Perfect gym bag
This is my current gym bag. A change of clothes easily fits. Along with sneakers. The divided front pocket is good for wallet/keys etc. Or to keep clean/ dirty items separate. It's very light and easy to open. I wish the shoulder straps were a bit shorter. I have them cinched all the way down to have it sit comfortably on my back. Otherwise it sits very low.
