Effective, convenient device with one design flaw
TL;DR: I would buy the Sidekick again and recommend it to others, but I also would recommend that buyers carry a tube of super glue when they travel in case the tip of the stylus breaks off. Overall, this is a positive review, since I really like the Sidekick. The -2 stars are for the design flaw, which, as other reviewers have noted, is that the tips are integrated into the hose and handle as a “stylus.” What this means is that, if the tip breaks off, as mine did on my first trip, the whole stylus apparatus must be replaced. For that, I could find replacement styluses only on the Waterpik site ($9.95 + tax + shipping), which was expensive (1/10 the cost of replacing the entire unit) and not time-effective, so I bought some super glue (3M Scotch, $2.59 + tax at Target) and used it to glue the tip back on to the handle, which so far has held after several uses. But the fact that complaints about this problem started showing up in product reviews four years ago makes me wonder why Waterpik hasn’t changed the design to match that of the standard units, which have replaceable tips. Maybe Waterpik is not changing it because the company makes more money from consumers having to replace the whole stylus, but I’m guessing that Waterpik has aesthetic reasons for not changing it. I think this because the Sidekick is at a high price point and comes packaged like an iPhone, which suggests that Waterpik is aiming the product at an upscale market, so maybe the designers think that replaceable tips will interfere with the “look” or “lines” of the unit. On the up side, the Sidekick packs down well for travel and is listed at the same max force (100 PSI) as the Waterpik Aquarius that I use at home, and to me, if feels like the same force (at least one other reviewer disagrees). Apart from the breakage, which certainly is in part user error, it has performed very well in the week or so since I’ve had it. Before closing, I would like to address three other issues that reviewers have raised. The first two issues are, for me, non-issues, while the third one seems legitimate. First, any space problems arising from the fact that the cable is on the back of the device rather than on the side generally can be resolved, on most countertops or sinks, simply by turning the unit forty-five degrees. Second, any “sanitation” problems from the lack of a cover on the water reservoir can be resolved by rinsing out the reservoir before use and/or storing it upside down when not in use. But third, the handle/stylus is, in fact, considerably smaller than the ones on the non-travel models, which may cause problems for people with larger hands. Again, the only serious issue that I have with the Sidekick is the non-replaceable tips. And so, I’m hoping that the seller and/or a Waterpik rep will read and respond to my review, since I’d like to see a redesign or at least hear why Waterpik has not and/or does not plan to redesign the unit. My guess is that either there have not been enough complaints about this issue to warrant a redesign and/or it would cost too much money. Update 01/15/2022: I currently am staying in a 20s-era guest house for the month, and the Sidekick has been working great, both as a water flosser and in the tight bathroom space. I've attached a couple of photos to give you a sense of how I made it work. As you can see, the placement of the plug does not really make any difference regarding economy of space.

Compact good for travel
The only thing bad is that there is no replacement tips, otherwise works great and packs up very compact in it’s own case

It’s Everything I was hoping for!!!
Water piks have made such a difference to my oral health (and dental bills!) - I have been SEARCHING for a travel option so I can maintain my good habits. I tried the handheld water pik and unfortunately it was useless. Not enough pressure to get between my teeth, and had to refill the reservoir like five times in a single session, so I sent it back. I tried a sonicare air flosser and that was OK, but I still got food bits out of my teeth when I use my Aquarius afterward. I hoped the sidekick would be the answer, and it totally is. Most important: the pressure is comparable to the Aquarius, I would estimate level 7 out of 10 (I use my Aquarius at eight). It leaves my teeth feeling flossed and clean. For those who care about noise, it is as quiet if not quieter than the Aquarius. Even though wouldn’t mind refilling the reservoir once, I can actually do my whole mouth with one tank of water. I was curious to see if it made a mess because a lot of reviews mention splashing, but even when I filled the reservoir to the very top edge, not a drop went anywhere. The vibration just makes a gentle ripple in the surface. Personally, I am not at all bothered that it doesn’t have a lid. It’s not like a lid creates a hermetic seal, plus its not going to be sitting on my counter for months…and if I DID think dust etc had gotten in there, I would just rinse the reservoir before filling it. The device is smaller than I expected which is amazing for travel. I love the luxury feel of the flosser (the black and copper is gorgeous) - it makes me excited to use it, which is another pus for anyone struggling to establish new routines. Overall, the sidekick totally lives up to the price tag. I’m so happy with it. Now I just wish my countertop Aquarius had the same elegant aesthetic!

Great for traveling! Recommended by my dentist!!!
I like everything about this water flosser. fits into a small bag that is the size of a small cosmetic bag. It couldn't be easier to take with you.

Amazing water flosser
I love this water flosser. Having owned some of the older and bigger models, this one really blew me away with how compact and sleek it is. It looks good on the counter in my bathroom and doesn't take up much space. I also love the carrying case and how it is designed to be packed up and toted around which was something I've always wanted with these devices. 100% recommend.

Simply perfect for travel!
I have the full size waterpick for everyday use, but if you are like me, you want a waterpick even when you travel or, why not, at the office?. The battery operated versions do not work well, I have tried them all, they lack power, the batteries don’t last, and, they are more cumbersome and awkward than this little jewel! It is compact, could even fit in a purse, a smart design, yes it’s small, (don’t expect a 2 litres réservoir) but I fill the water tank twice at maximum pressure and the cleaning is fine, no, it’s great. Note: I am not paid for this review, nor did I get a free item to write a review! I paid the full price, and for me it’s worth it even though a bit expensive. I would not exactly recommend it for everyday use, unless you live in a shoe box! But for travel it’s perfect, I love it!!

Product is not as good as the package
I needed one waterpik for both travel and home use. I as attracted by the global voltage and compact features. Though expensive, I wanted to try this. There are few issues with this. (1) nozzle is fixed and not interchangeable (2) the tube is resting loose on top of the unit without a proper storage compartment (3) the water reservoir is too small and doesn't have a cover (lid). I didn't even try this. I am returning this and replacing it with another conventional model.

Excellent Portable Version of Conventional Waterpik
I have the conventional Waterpik for home use and love it. However the size and shape of it isn't ideal for travel. It's bulky and takes up a ton of space in a suitcase, especially for short trips. The Sidekick solves all those problems. It's very well designed and compact and comes with a nice carrying case. It's powerful enough for short term use and reservoir is just big enough, although occasionally I will refill it for another round when needed. The lack of lid isn't a big deal. I either disassemble it when not in use and lay the components on a towel outside of the bathroom to dry or I throw a hand towel over the top so I'm not worried about the hygiene aspect. The reviews low rating the Sidekick because it's not good for everyday home use make me shake my head. This unit wasn't designed for that but is fantastic for travel. Very glad I purchased it and would recommend to any fan of Waterpik.

Perfect for travelling or bathroom with little counter space!
I purchased this for travelling purpose. It worked great, it’s powerful like the one I use at home in a portable size. It is very easy to pack especially it comes with its own carrying case. Everything tugged in perfectly to its carrying case. Absolutely perfect for travelling! I love it and will recommend this product to anyone.
