PRODUCT DESCRIPTION The RO Pure UF-3 System consists of three separate filtration stages to provide you with clean, delicious tasting water. This kit includes one UF-3 Module with pre-installed filters and brushed nickel, twist top mount faucet. Changing filters is easy with the unique swivel-valve, push-button assembly allowing for one-step filter changes that do not require you to shut off your water source. It is important that this system is properly installed and maintained with an incoming water pressure of 40 to 80 psi for it to operate as designed. Three stages of filtration trap particulate matter and ensure a greater reduction of chlorine and other materials that cause bad taste. This kit contains everything you need to maintain crystal clear, high quality, and great tasting water. In order to maintain your system in its top performance it is recommended to change out both the sediment and carbon filters every 6 months and the UF membrane every year depending on the quality of your incoming water supply. AMAZON.COM The Watts Premier Filter-Pure UF-3 Water Filtration Device utilizes three-stage filtration to ensure you get cleaner, healthier drinking water straight from the tap. In addition to reducing lead, chemicals, and chlorine taste and odor, the UF-3 uses Hollow-Fiber technology to trap and remove even the tiniest particles from your water. Featuring a patented space-saving design that is perfect for houses and apartments, the UF-3 can be installed in a matter of minutes. Other Products You May Want to Consider: All-in-One Water Test KitStandard Faucet with Air Gap, Brushed Stainless SteelWater Filtration Booster Pump Kit 3-stage filtration and Hollow Fiber Technology provide cleaner water straight from the tap. During the lifecycle of a single filter, you can save up to 16,000 plastic bottles from being deposited in landfills. Three-Stage Filtration Removes Contaminants The Watts UF-3 filters drinking water in three stages. Once the system is connected, water from the tap passes through a five-micron sediment filter, followed by a heavy-duty one-micron carbon block filter that reduces lead and chemicals. The third stage of filtration involves a state-of-the-art UF Hollow Fiber Technology membrane. Hollow Fiber Technology uses standard home water pressure to push water through a semi-permeable membrane. Suspended particles and materials of high molecular weight are unable to pass through the 0.2 micron UF membrane, leaving you with only fresh clean water and dissolved minerals. This specially formulated filtration process is capable of reducing cryptosporidia, giardia, entamoeba, and toxoplasma, as well as a long list of chemicals--from herbicides and pesticides to disinfection byproducts and gas additives. Cleaner Water Straight from the Tap It is estimated that VOCs (volatile organic chemicals) are present in one-fifth of the nation's water supplies. These contaminants can enter ground water from a variety of sources, including herbicide and pesticide runoff, gasoline or oil spills, leaking underground fuel tanks, disinfection byproducts, septic system cleaners, and chemicals used in the dry cleaning industry. The UF-3 keeps you safe from these and other VOCs with its three-stage filtration, so you can turn on the tap with the assurance that you're getting cleaner, healthier drinking water. Simple Operation for In-Home Convenience Thanks to technological advances, the UF-3's sophisticated filtration process, which was commonly used only in municipal water treatment plants and hospitals, is now available for home use. The UF-3 is capable of running at low water pressures, and it won't alter the pH of your water. For added convenience, the filtration system doesn't require electricity or a separate holding tank. Easy Assembly and Filter Replacement The UF-3 features unique swivel-valve, push-button assembly that allows for easy initial installation, as well as simple and sanitary one-step filter changes that don't require you to shut off your water source. The Importance of Drinking Clean Water Water is critical to proper food digestion, kidney health, brain function, blood health, joint functionality, and more. It's important to make sure that the water you drink is devoid of contaminants. Thankfully, using a Watts water filtration device will ensure consistent quality for all of your drinking and cooking needs. In fact, when you use Watts' high-quality certified water treatment devices and filters, your water will be free of chlorine taste and odors, particles, and many other contaminants that can be detrimental to your health. *Please refer to the Performance Data Sheet for the complete list of claims for which this system is certified. Not only is the UF-3 filter a healthy choice for you, but it's also a healthy choice for the environment. This filter helps you minimize the harmful environmental consequences of buying bottled water. Incredibly, if a mere ten percent of North America's bottled water intake were reduced by switching to home-filtered water in reusable containers, we could eliminate: * 133,000 trucks driving an average of 500 miles--saving nearly 12 million gallons of diesel fuel * Over 100 million pounds of greenhouse gasses--equal to taking 1,100 cars off the road annually * 213 million pounds of PET--equal to 1.5 million barrels of crude oil or improving the PET recycling rate by 10% Depending upon which Watts water-filtration product you use, you can prevent up to 16,000 half-liter bottles from being deposited in landfills--all in the time it takes to use and replace a single filter. This was a household game changer.
The heading may seem a bit over the top, but the difference in the taste of the water was way beyond what I hoped for. Background: We just purchased a home out in the country with it's own well. I grew up on well water so the water here was nothing out of the ordinary for me. However, my wife grew up in town, and even though I can't stand town water myself, the well water was repugnant to her. We had the water tested and it is perfectly safe to drink. Actually, the water is not hard at all, and in fact has a natural salt in it. No water softener needed, and my wife actually commented about how amazing her hair is after showers compared to the town water. So whats the problem with our water? It smells, and it smells bad. I didn't ask for a ton of specifics on the water testing, I just wanted to make sure it was safe to drink, and the hardness was just something that they told me about. But as to the smell, I can only assume its a sulfur smell. The testing guy didn't tell me and I didn't think to ask. As I said, I grew up in the country and the water is not out of the ordinary for me. The water where I grew up was hard as nails, but it did not have the taste that goes along with the smell of the water out here. When you take a drink, and hold the water in your mouth, the smell,,, kind of translates directly into how the water tastes. I don't know if I am explaining that well, but suffice to say, even for me the taste was not exactly pleasant. We own two parrots and the wife started buying them spring water in loo of the tap water. And we started buying bottled water, mostly because my wife would not drink the tap water period, and heck, if we have spring water in the house, I'm not going to "Not" drink it. The spring water was not exactly a large money burden, but it was a bit of a pain to store and bring home all the time. So the wife bought a PUR faucet attachment to try and see how it went. Well, she uses the water for the animals, but we still drink the bottled water. The PUR was an absolute pain on the faucet. I can't stress this enough. I can't understand why anyone would willingly put one of these on the kitchen faucet. But the faucet was leaking around all of the gaskets anyhow so we decided to change it out. We got a really nice Delta Leland faucet. We love the pull out spray nozzle, but there is no way to attach the PUR, (which secretly I had in mind from the git go). But while at HD, we saw some under sink water filtration units. I went home and did some research, and turns out that the Lowes and HD models had mixed reviews at best, and the ones that rated them negative had some fairly credible and not insignificant complaints. So I turned to Amazon for alternatives where I ran into This Baby. It had excellent reviews, and the biggest complaint that I felt was legit, was the adapter valves construction. The install: I spent two hours installing this. Keep in mind please, this install would not take any normal human being nearly this long. Honestly, if I were in a rush, I could have installed this in like 15 min. But as it happens, I had a day off work and was home alone, so I took loads of time to read the instructions word for word, and I didn't exactly push the install hard. I just,,, took my time. I considered the plastic valve carefully. I am no fan of plastic mechanical parts. PVC pipe is one thing. But I like to get good quality brass fittings when ever it is possible. Now, I could have gone to the store and got one of these in brass. (I think). But the valve, though cheap, didn't seem to be altogether garbage. Warning, if you over crank on any of the threads, you may well have a problem. But, I had time. So I was GINGER with it. Snugged things down good, but didn't over tighten anything. To my pleasure, not a leak anywhere. Although I would gladly have paid for a brass fitting in the kit, hell, id of happily paid and extra 20-30 bucks for one to just come in the kit. But, this one simply works. I'm not tickled that its plastic, and I can tell you that if you abuse it during the install, I can see where you would have fatal issues with it. But, there is no doubting the final results on my end. It just,,, works. On to the faucet. The one thing I do not like about the faucet is where the neck fits into the valve fitting. I like things of this nature to be able to articulate back and forth with just a bit of friction, and to be stable in the vertical direction, with no play. This faucet does have a bit of play vertically when you twist the neck left or right. It just feels cheaply put together and I do worry about it leaking over time from being flexed back and forth when you twist the neck. It seems like an unnecessary amount of ware on the gaskets because the tolerances were not engineered to be closer. It feels flimsy. However, I do find much else to like about it. The metal seems to be,,, great frankly. Good metal. The coating seems also to be very good. There is a gloss coat over the metal that should keep the metal from staining from contact with water, as stainless has the propensity for. And to my surprise, it matches up so well with the Delta Leland, you would think that they were all part of the same kit. It really looks sharp next to the Delta. I can't speak to longevity as far as gaskets are concerned, only time will tell how long the faucet will hold up without leaking. But it functions with no problems out of the box, and it looks just great. Finally, we get to the reason for buying this thing in the first place, and that's how well it treats the water: I ran the water through the filters for about 5-6 min. The water came out with a kind of, gooey foam to start with. That quickly went away. Then the water was cloudy, but that too went away within the first couple min. Then the water had bursts of cloudy large bubbles at regular intervals with some cloudiness between these spurts. But after about 5 to 6 min, the water ran clear and solid in a perfect stream. Turning the water on and off since has produced nothing but a perfect clear unbroken stream of water. Daddy happy. But how about the taste? Now I can't speak to what specifically is or is not in the water with regards to minerals (some of which you want in there anyhow), and other things. But what I can tell you is that the smell of the water is completely gone. And the associated taste of the water with the smell is also gone. In fact, the only taste that I can notice at all is,,, how to describe this. Imagine if you had spring water, and then you ran it through a water softener. The salt from the softener imparts a certain taste. Not salty per say, the softener is not there to turn your water into sea water. But it sort of just, tastes soft,,, if you know what I mean. Anyone that has a softener probably gets it. If you don't have one, you probably don't know what "Soft" tastes like. I can only assume that this effect is due to the natural salt in the well water, and that the filters are not filtering at least that part out. BUT, on reading how the filters work, they are not designed necessarily to remove dissolved,,, things. This could go into a bit of science and I don't pretend to be a scientist. But as I understand it, Dissolved salt is not necessarily removed by the filters, where solids, like iron, would be. All and all, the water tastes like clean soften water. Actually quite pleasant to drink. Don't get me wrong, if I had a choice, I would still prefer the spring water that runs out of the ground up to our camp. But, since we don't have a spring here at the house, This in my estimation is about as good as it could get. The difference in taste between the "Tap" water and the filtered water honestly, no fluff here, is like night and day. You would swear that there are two separate sources of water. The PUR took the smell away, but the taste still remained. The 3 stage filter however makes the water actually taste great and I can't stress that enough. The e

Works as expected
Product works as expected. I'm not a professional plumber and I was able to hook it up myself in two hours and only one trip to Lowes to get a 1/4 inch tee connection for the fridge line. It took a little bit of finagling to get the filtration system to hook up to the faucet. That's the only knock I have against this system is there has to be a better way to do that while you're squeezing between a counter and the sink drain crinking your neck to tighten that nut. I'm pretty sure the installation videos showcase someone doing it on a uninstalled sink in a warehouse somewhere. So far four hours in and it's still holding.

Installed it today works grreat.
Read reviews before buying this and some were a little alarming concerning installation. I replaced an old GE unit because the filters were getting too expensive and hard to find. I also decided to change my faucet at the same time, first time I ever changed one. LOL, my hot water valve under my sink wouldn't turn the water off so I got my building maintenance department to change my water valves last night. Of course I bought new faucet feed lines so now I was starting with everything new. Working under my sink is really tight but managed it, feeling a little beaten up now of course. I'll keep this on the filter installation. I would say that the time I spent on that part was about 45 minutes. I started that part by putting some teflon tape on my 3/8 water valve. I used the brass 3/8 adapter that came with the filter. Before putting it on, I put a little teflon tape on the exposed threads that the white plastic valve would connect to. I had to use a rachet to tighten it because that area was too small for a wrench and I didn't want to mess up the exposed threads using a pliers. I tightened it down pretty good but was careful not to over tighten. I was connecting with the faucet that was 1/2 inch so I bought a 1/2 to 1/2 feeder to lesson the extra 3/8 brass part that comes in the kit. I know the instructions say don't use teflon tape but asking the maintenance guy and my neighbor next door who is a plummer, they said it wouldn't hurt and maybe help. They just warned "Do Not Over Tighten". I put the white valve on the 3/8 to 1/2 kit valve hand tight and then 1/2 turn using a pliers. I had the water on the off position on the valve, along with the main off of course. Next, I secured the filter fauctet. I had my wife hold it steady and in position as I tightened it with a basin wrench. I secured my regular faucet before all this but didn't connect the feed lines yet. Both the green and blue tubes came with perfect cuts so I didn't have to mess with cutting them. I read a review that the ferral didn't have a tapered end, but if you look real closely at it, it does. I put the tube tip in the end of the tube, placed the compession nut over it, and then the ferral with the tapered end towards the faucet. I was surprised that the tube didn't go that far into the faucet because the instruction gave me the impression it would. It went in only about an inch or maybe less. I hand tightened the compression nut and tightened it pretty good with a pliers (adjustable wrench wouldn't stay in adjusted position), and I needed one hand to hold the tube in place. I then finished of the regualr faucet by connecting the feeder lines. One thing I would recommend is a new feeder line for the filter and use 1/2. The newer ones don't have to be tightened that much, hand tight and half a turn with a wrench. Then I turned on the water to check the regular faucet and the white valve connection with that still in the off position. NO LEAKS! YES! Next I mounted the filter unit in a place where replacing fiters would be the easiest. Took the blue tube and plugged it in all the way and gave a little tug, and push it back, on the right side of the unit. Then I plugged the green tube into the left side. I had a route plan for the tubes to keep them up and out of the way. Finally I plugged the green tube into the white valve. I positioned that so that connection faced straight out. Push it all the way in, kind of like a slight stop and then a full stop. again, give a little tug and push it back. Then I turned the water on, on the white valve and turned the faucet on. Worked great! No leaks, been watching all day. Water tastes good although being connected to the NYC water system, the water's pretty good to begin with. The directions were pretty clear so maybe they fixed that since I read that so many were confused by them. I'm glad so far that I decided on this filter.

Instant great water
We highly recommend this product. It is relatively easy to install - getting granite countertop drilled was most difficult part! Water flavour changed immediately, so no more chlorine taste and smell

Amazing, awesome water purifier.
This filtration system turned my yucky, fibreglassy tasting water from my sailboat holding tanks in to wonderful, tasteless drinking water that you can't tell from bottled water. No more carrying bottled water down to the boat ! I totally recommend this system. And, the tap looks real nice on the countertop. It's nice that it's so tall because I can fill tall bottles from my SodaStream, or other water bottles easily with the bottles just standing on the counter.

Works and May be placed on countertop with diverter
We did a blind taste test with water directly from faucet vs water from this filter and there is huge difference in taste. This filter does work and is way more convenient than re-filling pitcher filter. Will definitely recommend this to family. We don't have extra hole in the sink for faucet and we are not allowed to put one as we are renting an apartment so we placed this at the countertop with this diverter: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B01H7FG5MW/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_2 Just thought I'd share it to anyone looking to see if it can be used over the counter. We put holes on a tin can for the faucet and the hose for filtered water. We are still looking for container for the filter itself to "hide it" and look more aesthetic. :)

Good buy
Works great, easy to instal. Wish it would have a filter swap so you don't have to buy more filters in 6 months. You will always have an extra filter. So when you stop using this you are forced to throw one or two out
