Does the job!
I've been a dedicated lifter for over 20 years and have been in the process of building my home gym over the last few years. This is a nice piece of equipment to have in order to really emphasize the biceps and stabilize them in a fixed position. I feel that this is a little safer than a preacher curl bench as well. This is a nice support bar that does what it's supposed to. It does lack a little in the padding department both behind the neck and on the bar itself so just be wary of that when using this. I've gotten used to it, but it does take a little adjustment if it's too uncomfortable. This is a nice biceps isolator to include in your range of home gym equipment.

Surprisingly sturdy
I had low expectations. It seemed too thin and basically doomed to fail…this does not appear to be the case. I’m not huge, neither am I small…basically average frame at 5’11”-215 (w/ some extra belly). The size and spacing are pretty good, and I can see how a larger or smaller person (frame or musculature) would fit right in too. You can always do a little extra padding w/ a towel if needed…it occurred to me, though I didn’t need it. The neck strap is nice, just to prevent having to contort to pick up and set down your EZ-curl bar…I used to trap an ISO-device and then try not to let it shift picking up the weights…this strap is something you adjust once - very good idea. I didn’t really test it too heavy, but 75lbs EZ-curl (total) felt firm, not much give at all, if any. I figured 75-Lbs would be plenty to deform it, and it didn’t hardly flinch…so it’s strong enough. I’d be surprised if you started to have trouble under 135-lb strict curl, or even more…didn’t test, but got a few for how rigid it was. As always, don’t go straight to your max…titrate up. I’m pretty pleased with this iso-device…and feel better about it after all the preacher-curl videos out there! You’re in more control here w/ hips in the mix.

Game changer
My husband is an avid gym rat, but is in the process of building out a home gym. He's been using this daily and says it's such a game changer to lifting weights. It helps with form and targets muscles you normally would have a hard time targeting. The only thing he wishes was different is the neck strap in the bag. It kind of digs in a little bit, but nothing a little padding can't fix.

Hard to get started and not enough padding for your arms.
Once you're in position to start doing curls it functions fairly well. But, for me, there were two problems. First, if you put the strap behind your head and bend over to pick up your dumbbells the bar flies all over the place so you can't position it correctly while both hands are holding weights. It needs something to stabilize it in place, like a chest strap or something. One way to solve this is to have your weights on something high enough so you can keep the bar in place while you grip the weights. Or if you have a training partner who can hand you the weights while you get in position that would also solve this problem. Second, the padding on the front of the bar is VERY thin, almost worthless, so the backs of your upper arms are crushed against the bar. NOT comfortable at all. You'll probably end up adding more padding of some sort to make it more likely you'll want to keep using it. Once you get past these 2 issues it'll work fine for most people. I hope this helps.
