So far, so good....
I bought these gloves in preparation for the winter season in Northern Alberta. I work in the oilpatch, and have been searching for a glove that is durable and warm in -30/40c weather. I doubt they will be the answer, but am looking forward to them, considering the steep cost. This review is for fit only. The XL size fits a tad bigger than I expected. I have average hands that are comfortable in a large glove in the summer and xl in the winter, as i usually wear liners as well. Width is good, but length is a bit long for me. Measured from the base of my thumb to tip of middle finger, my hand is 19.5cm, or just over 7.5 inches. I will review their performance once i use them a bit, and once the weather gets colder.

Seam to be built well but lack in performance
I’m not so sure these were intended to be used as winter gloves and here’s why... The glove apparently is built in 4 layers. From the inside to outer shell they are layered: 1- Soft Kevlar material 2- polyurethane waterproof barrier 3- Fire resistant batting (probably aramid) 4- pliable leather shell Now here’s what Youngstown probably intended to perform in building the glove this way: When confronting fire - the Fire batting lining is outside of the polyurethane lining to keep it from melting - while the Kevlar inner lining protects your hand from heat and puncture. BUT - here is how they preform: The polyurethane lining Does Not Breath. It acts like a vapor barrier. So first your hand sweats - then begins to get cold. Further - since the fire batting liner also doubles as your cold weather insulation and is outside of the waterproof polyurethane liner - it gets wet if you working with water in the cold. So your hand gets cold from sweat & cold from lack of dry insulation. I believe that these gloves were perhaps better intended for protecting your hand from fire risk situations and some chemical risk situations. If you want a watertight winter glove - your better off with one with a breathable membrane like goretex.

Not worth the money!! Only one month of use!
Not even close to as durable as they claim. I purchased these to gather firewood and load it into my wood stove. They worked great for the first week. I got a little sweaty in them at the end of that week splitting wood and it was down hill from there. The sweating clearly made it loose half of it's insulation value. That would be fine if it wicked the sweat but I'm still trying to dry them out 3 weeks later. Must have a vapor barrier unable to wick sweat let allow allow it to dry. I first noticed the stitching coming loose soon after near the finger reinforced area. It appears to be kevlar. I'm glad it's kevlar stitching but the reinforced areas are not in the correct areas. If you notice In the picture the fingers are worn out where the reinforcement isn't. That's because the reinforced area is only covering the thick insulated area your finger can't even get to. The pictures say it all. I received these on November 25th. One month later that's what they look like. Hole in one finger already!! Very disappointed as my $20 rubber coated gas station gloves hold up better. Sure they have burn holes because they aren't as fire resistant. But at least I've had them for 2 winters and the sweating drys out. These gloves where supposed to replace them. Guess I'll be going back to them until I find something better than these. Very disappointed! I'll contact the company at some point and see if they offer any kind of guarantee. This is unacceptable for the price.

Not living up to the HYPE
These gloves for around $115.00 are not living up to the advertisement that "Youngstown" put out on their website. They are durable as advertised. They are about as half as warm and are "NOT" water proof as advertised. These gloves should sell for about half of the price that they do. I've had 35 dollar Carhart gloves keep my hands dryer than these. Its the kevlar they are stiched with that makes them expensive I'm sure.

0 degrees...dry.....warm
Great experience with these work gloves.....sub zero temps.....blizzard conditions......expensive but worth it for dry protected hands. Leather gloves that are water proof!

They call them ultimate lined gloves, but they weren't ...
They call them ultimate lined gloves, but they weren't designed for the Canadian oil & gas industry. I bought these for the required flame resistant rating, but they haven't been very warm so far when I'm wearing them and it hasn't even hit the coldest part of the winter yet. I've worn them for two weeks now and there's already one seam where the stitching is letting go. For the high price of them, I expected them to be a quality American made glove. The tag on the inside though says made in China so I don't see how they can justify the price. Hoping they will last through the winter, but I wouldn't buy another pair.
