PRODUCT DESCRIPTION When the Japanese Zero first entered service in 1940, it was without doubt the most advanced naval fighter in the world and quickly earned a reputation as a ruthless dogfighter. In early engagements, the Zero proved so effective that pilots were able to post an almost unbelievable victory ratio of 12 to 1 against their adversaries. As the Wehrmacht began its march across Europe in 1940, little attention was being given to developments in the Far East. Following years of re-arming and upgrading, the Japanese Navy could boast some of the most advanced naval aircraft in the world within its inventory, including the superb Mitsubishi A6M Zero. This long range Naval fighter would be at the forefront of Japan’s expansionist ambitions throughout WWII and in the early war years, proved to be unequalled in the Pacific region. Possessing exceptional maneuverability, the Zero quickly earned a reputation as a dogfighter and Allied pilots quickly learned to avoid a slow, turning fight with this beautifully balanced aircraft. As the fighter aircraft to beat in the Pacific, American pilots soon developed tactics that avoided playing into the hands of the Zero and began to score victories. As newer fighters began to enter service, the A6M Zero began to show its weaknesses, which were a lack of armour protection for the pilot and no self-sealing fuel tanks in the wing. Using their ‘boom and zoom’ hit and run tactics, the Americans finally began to get the measure of the feared Zero. FROM THE MANUFACTURER The Mitsubishi A6M Zero was a long range naval fighter aircraft that formed the backbone of the Imperial Japanese Navy's Air Arm throughout the Second World War. Blessed with exceptional maneuverability, as well as long range, the Zero proved to be the best carrier fighter aircraft in the world when it made its debut in China in 1940 and then again in the opening stages of the Pacific War against the United States.

Awesome kit. Amazon needs to package better
I love Airfix kits and this one is another great one. The box came mailed in an envelope, and no surprise, the kit box arrived semi crushed. Kit contents are fine though.

Terrible packaging
Not packaged properly as can be seen in the photo. Luckily the contents were still OK. I will be looking for a a seller that takes more care next time.

Airfix models have some of the best surface detail for being VERY simple. I could easily recommend this to anyone.

Airfix Zero
Have built several Airfix models and been pleased with each one Good Fit and finish. Easy wheels up build. Amazon ships theses models in a plastic bag with no protection Boxes are easily damaged Mine arrived crushed and damaged the propeller I was able to straighten the part using a heat gun and makeshift jig.

Opt for 1:48 scale!
Small Decals are always challenging.

Buenos detalles y buen ajuste
Un modelo relativamente fácil de ensamblar me gustaron mucho los detalles del modelo. Es un avión pequeño y la escala 1/72 hace un reto su construcción. Fue divertido de armar

Excellent kit: good value for money
Kit is excellent. Parts fit well with nice surface detailling. Transfers are also sized correctly though the yellow wing transfers were not used so am unable to vouch for those. The refuel point on the wing is tricky to glue on and easy to snap off but otherwise a very pleasent build. Extremely good value at £5.99! Finished model looks reasonably like a Zero from photos at 1:72. A shame only one scheme is provided or would definitely get more than one.

Great quality and value
Great little kit. Far better than I was expecting for the price (£5.99). Went together very well without any major filling or alterations. I’ll be buying more of these excellent Airfix kits.

its a very nice model it all went together well only a little ...
just finished this kit. This is my first kit of the new tooling Airfix kits, its a very nice model it all went together well only a little mr surfacer was needed on a couple of seams. ok ive given it five but i do have a few gripes about the kit. First the rear cockpit bulkhead that you attach the seat too both lower lugs were missing, second the control column broke into tow while being removed from the sprue despite using cutters. Third the yellow decal strips for the leading edge of the wings would not conform to the curve of the wing despite copious amounts of decal soloution, so i had to resort to airbrushing the yellow strip. despite these small problems i consider the kit to be well worth a look and value for money so much so that ive already purchased the same kit but under the kit number A01005A and i intend to do this one as a Pearl Harbour Zero so i'll need to purchase some aftermarket decals for this. It is also the first model that ive built that i have put a wash on to bring out the panel lines which i bought through amazon
