kind of misleading...
Okay here's a thorough review of this kayak... First off, the picture is pretty misleading. It makes the kayak look like its made of PVC . Its not but thats ok. If you look carefully, the front looks like its black PVC thats apart of the body. In reality its actually a loose cover. Under the cover is zippers to access the inner bladder of the kayak. You see the orange color of the kayak? Well that's pretty much a cover for the inner bladder in which you inflate. It's a thick material and I suppose it's "double layered" to add durability. Is it durable? Seems very durable. I couldn't imagine this popping from hitting rocks in class 2 river maybe even 3 or 4. Here's whats wrong with mine. Theres three boston valves for filling it up, one on each side and one for the bottom. The inner bladder stitching is mis aligned with the outer layer so there's a twist on one end of my kayak. When fully inflated, doesn't look as bad but it looks very stressed where that valve is due to the twist. The valves...They are very close to each other!! You have to pump the sides and the floor last because with the inflated floor, you can't access the side valves! Another huge flaw as well is when you first unbox your Kayak, you have to leave it in the sun or use a heat gun to "soften" the plastic around the valves. The plastic is so warped you can't unscrew the boston valve. Luckily plastic has memory or else you'd never be able to deflate your Kayak. Even my cheap inflatable kayak came with cardboard supports around the valves during shipping to avoid this problem! Let's talk about it in the water now... Pretty wobbly. Kinda feels like a Canoe. Wish the bottom was flatter and more stable so it wobbles side to side alot almost feeling like it'll tip over. It also doesn't float flat, it sits askew on top of the water. If you jump into the water, climbing in is gonna be hard. It will come very close to tipping over if not tip over. The ends of the kayak also don't have handles to pull it back on shore which is kind of a bummer but I made it work. The lack of stability makes it a little hard to paddle on flat water. Does this kayak work? Sure it does. I'd rather spend more and get a better kayak since this is the only one around this price point.

4.5 Years Later Still A Great All Around Kayak
I bought 2 of these for a 3 month trip to the Bahamas on our 32 foot sailboat and have never regretted my purchase. All inflatables compromise paddling efficiency in favor of the convenience of space savings. The Airhead Montana paddles reasonably well and packs down easily into our smallish lazarette storage. They’re not too heavy and not tippy at all. It’s double layer construction is very durable and aside from some color fading, ours have held up remarkably well. The only pain about the dual wall construction is that unless you take everything apart and dry each piece really well, moisture is difficult to get rid of and will cause mold to build. Best of all they’re super comfortable. I’m 6’ ~190lbs and have plenty of room. A couple of things to note. Don’t drag your kayak. No inflatables do well with abrasion. We use ours almost exclusively in salt water so we absolutely, at minimum, rinse the zipper pulls and the paddle connection buttons with fresh water. The zipper pulls will corrode shut if you don’t and if you ever have a leak in one of the inflatable bladders, which are easily repairable, you’ll break the zipper trying to get it un-stuck. The paddle connectors are spring steel and just rust. None of these issues are any reflection on Airhead, they’re common to most similar products on the market. I’d absolutely recommend these kayaks.

Great kayak; downside is dry time
Pros: Double layered -- so it feels much more durable (which, I believe is the primary difference between this kayak and some of the less expensive ones); easy to transport without air (stores easily in my car); handles on either side to move once blown up; feels very stable; tracks well once seat is placed correctly for more weight closer to the front; Easy to inflate (I got an air pump that hooks up to car cigarette lighter for under $15); and has a Boston valves so deflation is a breeze. Cons: Drying takes considerably longer because of enclosed bladder and requires not only air drying, but also wiping down inside the enclosures (this is why it got only 4 stars); and, like most kayaks, the seat is fine for short sessions, but not comfortable for a longer times out -- I will be replacing eventually. Does anyone make a reclining kayak seat? Lol! I love to just sit and read on the water.

awesomely a blast to use
bought 2 of these late summer, was not disappointed. a definite must for first kayak. easy and quick to assemble/disassemble and just through in back of your car. was able to go out on the river 6 times so far without any problems. the materials are heavy that cover the air bladders with a rubber covered bottom. we have hit rocks and dragged bottom. these hold up to punishment pretty well. would recommend using the 96" kayak paddles because these kayaks are wider than a hard shell. 84" paddles are too small even for smaller riders. these were a intermediate price inflatable kayak. they track the water pretty well. a lot faster and less effort than the rafts we have. the seats are surprisingly comfortable and support your back fairly well with good leg room. the 1 person kayaks are rated for 300 pounds. I weigh 240lbs. at 6 ft. and have enough room to carry a small cooler up front and a utility bag behind me. if you need to take more gear buy the airhead 2 person kayak which support up to 500lbs and can be used solo. looking forward to next season to use these in more challenging waters. these are rated for class II rapids. I definitely would recommend these for your recreational endeavors.
