This is a lovely piece of cookware
This is a lovely piece of cookware. It replaces a Calphalon that I’ve used for years but now that I can afford it, I am upgrading to this product. It works perfectly. It is easy to clean. It looks sharp in the kitchen and performs very well.

Okay for boiling water/noodles; difficult to wash
I've wanted a multi-cooker for a long time and finally decided to get this one on sale. The main reason I bought this was to stop water from boiling over on my stove. Unfortunately, that still happens with this pot. The water comes up through the sides of the pot and colander. I may just need to get used to cooking with it. The materials are definitely cheaper than your standard All-Clad pot, but I figure if you're mostly boiling water, that's not the end of the world. Considering the size of this pot, I'm not sure you'd want a super heavy pot anyway. Speaking of size, this thing is a huge PITA to clean if you have a shallow sink like we do. One thing I didn't consider is it takes a lot more water to use this pot. In hindsight that should have been obvious, but I didn't think of it. As a result, it takes quite a bit longer for water boil and increases cooking times. I need to use it a few more times, but, overall, I'm not sure it was worth it.

So easy to use and maintain!
All-Clad products are not cheap. I asked for this for my birthday and my hubby made me order it myself because he couldn't make himself pay $150 for a single pot. I didn't have this problem and am very happy that I got it...and so is he (now). I chose this pot for three reasons. The first is that it is still made in the USA. The second is that I am tired of replacing my cookware every 1-5 years and from what I gathered in other reviews, All-Clad products will survive anything short of an ACME anvil landing on them or a nuclear war. The third (and most reviewable) reason I chose this particular product is that I have always wanted a stock/pasta/soup/etc. pot that has the removable strainer. For the past several years I've been using a pasta pot that has a built-in strainer in the lid. On several occasions, I haven't held the lid on tightly enough and have dumped an entire batch of pasta into the sink. This also happened when I used a colander set in the sink and poured the pasta/water into it. Trust me...when dinner is ready except for the noodles and your entire family is waiting...starting over from cold water is NOT what you want to be doing. This pot is wonderful for preventing such unfortunate events (and the ensuing temper tantrums...not to mention the hungry hubby and kids) and is so easy to use that my 9 year old was able to strain the pasta while I was busy handling another emergency. It was also great for making chicken stock from leftover roast chicken bones. I didn't have to dirty another stock pot just to remove the bones, overcooked veggies and herb sachet. It is also very useful for soaking beans. When they were done soaking, I just strained them, dumped the starchy water and poured the beans back into the pot with other ingredients for soup. If I had been just making beans, I could have kept them in the strainer and just added more water to finish the cooking. One of the wonderful features that my hubby thought was a flaw is the fact that the strainer basket does not go all the way to the bottom of the pot. A lot of people don't use enough water when cooking pasta so it takes a long time for the water to heat back up after adding the pasta and it ends up really gummy. The extra couple of inches guarantees a sufficient quantity of water AND has the added bonus of ensuring that nothing sticks to the bottom of the pot. In short, I recommend this to anybody looking for a versatile and easy to use pot that will last forever (barring invasion by Bugs Bunny or a hostile foreign country).

Decent quality, came dented from shipping
Great pot, love the inserts. It came with a small dent in the bottom corner, I assume from poor shipping. Overall it’s still great, the dent is negligible. Just wish it never happened! If Amazon workers weren’t worked to the bone by Dr. Evil, I’d get a replacement.

Even cooking
This is a terrific piece of cookware I find it very helpful when I’m creating large batches for my family. It works as beautifully as it looks

A great edition to my kitchen, and invaluable for food preservation
So, let's get a few things out of the way. Yes, unlike the more expensive All-Clad cookware items, this one is made in China. It is also not as heavy/ solid feeling as the d-5 pieces. That being said, I still like it. All of the pieces seem well made and durable. This set is easy to clean, and dishwasher safe. Compared to many other similar items here on Amazon, I still think this is a very good deal. The pasta insert has been wonderful to use for canning peaches or green beans, which need to be dipped into boiling water for a minute and then quickly removed. I don't know that I will use it much for pasta unless I am cooking for a lot more people than normal. The steamer basket is also quite nice, although I haven't used it as much yet. Both of the inserts are great additions to the 12 qt stock pot. My one complaint is how high up the pasta basket sits in the pot. You have to put several inches of water in the pot before you even hit the bottom of the pasta strainer. It may lack some of the fitness and perfection of All-Clad's more expensive products, but for the ways I will be using it that won't matter as much. Yes, most of the use I foresee involves soups or boiling water. While just about any pot could do these tasks, having functional and perfectly fitting inserts inside a sturdy, easy to clean pot makes this set a bargain for me.

Good; but not great. Still better than my old Calphalon
I bought this because I wanted to make stock (using the deep pasta insert). The pot is acceptable, though very thin bottom with a tendency to burn unless using the insert. The design is a little flawed (for stock making purpose) in that it leaves too much space between the bottom of the pot and bottom of the strainer. I have trouble fitting all the stock ingredients (chicken bones, onion, celery, etc). So as the stock boils, it leaks all over the stove between the base pot and pasta insert. It is okay to make pasta (but so is my 8 quart calphalon that this replaces) Also the steaming basket is too shallow; the basket is too far away from the steam (I like to cook my hard-boiled eggs using steam, for which this pot is not very useful. It is also too shallow to cook tamales. If it were a few inches deeper I could steam them vertically (which is the way that you should always steam your tamales).

Great quality. Fantastic value. I'm very happy.
I am quite impressed by this product. Reading many of the other reviews I was concerned about it's quality in comparison to some of my 'true' All-Clad pans. Let me reassure you to worry not! While it isn't the same, I find it to be extremely high quality all the same. I find this to be a very versatile product and a total steal for the price. The first time I used it, I actually steamed broccoli and cauliflower at the same time in the big strainer, while steaming chopped yams in the little strainer. It worked perfectly. Subsequent uses were to make nice quality stock, then soup. I'm super happy with this cooker and recommend it.

Bonded bottom and made in China. Still a great pot.
It isn't close to the American made All-Clad Quality, but the price is fairly reasonable and the pot is more than adequate for its purposes. It is very tall. Check the measurement to make sure you can accommodate it.
