The Comfy Cone is a soft, cone-shaped e-collar that helps your pets heal and recover from surgeries, procedures, allergy flare-ups and hot spots in comfort. All Comfy Cones are made with foam-backed, padded nylon that is easy to clean and is water-resistant and repellent. The tight gauge of the nylon even prevents cats from getting their claws into the material! The Comfy Cone uses Velcro for tight closures, making it easy to get the cone on and off animals quickly. And the cone can be reversed inside and out, as well as front to back to support shoulder and upper back injuries. The Comfy Cone comes with three sizing strips that let you adjust the size of the cone for a secure fit. Use the Sizing Chart and Measuring Guide above or on our website to determine the right size for your pet. Along with the sizing strips, each cone comes with removable plastic stays that let you determine how structured the cone should be for your pet. Remove the stays for a more flexible cone and keep them in for firmer structure, like when a pet has had eye surgery. Once the stays are removed, the Comfy Cone can even be folded back for added freedom while eating and drinking or when checking wounds and irritations. All Comfy Cones have a reflective edge for safety and elastic loops at the neck to thread your pet’s collar through. It’s perfect to use during recovery as well as during playtime at home or at the park! DISCLAIMER: The Comfy Cone is an alternative to a plastic cone and as with any medical devices, please supervise your pet when they are wearing it. It’s best to purchase an authentic, new Comfy Cone for your pet. All Four Paws cannot approve of the condition or function of any Comfy Cone not purchased new and directly through an authorized retailer. If your pet needs a little bit more room around the neck, simply add a Comfy Cone Extender Panel to the Medium Extra-Long and Extra Large sizes!

Probably great for most dogs -- but not mine
This appears to be a fantastic product -- it's a very comfortable-appearing (wouldn't know for certain, since I'm not the one wearing it) yet rigid cone of significant width and depth. My 110-pound, 29-inch-high Lab/Rottweiler (trunk to foot) has a 23-inch neck and the XXL size fits perfectly at the smallest sizing (XL, for him, placed him at the edge of the size scale, so I played it safe). I'd say this would fit a Saint Bernard comfortably. It's also 14 inches deep when worn -- all the others we've seen are 10 or 12 inches. All of this should have been perfect for keeping my dog from licking the wound on his back foot. Unfortunately, he figured a way to do it (again), and I will probably return this product. Let me restate that this is not through fault of the cone -- it appears to be fantastic. My dog is just too smart for it (God knows how he managed to bend backward and still shove his foot into his mouth and inside the cone. A few notes: 1. My dog freaked initially when this was placed on. He can't see side to side, and it's not even slightly transparent like the plastic "Cone of Shame." He got used to it after about an hour, however. Expect a lot of bumping into the edges of walls and doors. But at least it won't mark up or damage anything. The cone includes insertable plastic strips for increased rigidity; these can be removed individually if you need to only keep part of the item stiff and not the entire cone. 2. It has a nice reflective stripe around the outer edge of the cone, which probably prevents the dog from getting hit by a car if he/she's walking outside with you at night. It appears that the only color this product comes in is black (as is my dog), so that stripe is a very good thing for us. 3. It lays semi-flat on the floor when the dog tries to rest or sulk, unlike the plastic cones (which nearly broke when we put one on our dog). It's heavier than the plastic cone -- I'd say about a pound vs. mere ounces -- so I don't know how your dog will respond long term if trying to keep his/her head elevated if atanding on the floor or upright on a couch. Mine didn't seem to care. 4. The Velcro makes it easy to put on and take off; it's obviously meant for repeated use. Compare it to the plastic cones, which are a pain (figuratively and literally) to take off. The Comfy Cone also lacks the plastic edges/clips that dig into the dog's neck and irritate it further. 3. Initial placement of the cone can be challenge -- you have to loop the dog's collar through small elastic straps at the base of the cone, similar to wearing a belt on jeans. It will be tough if the collar has ornaments or a thick head, but it's manageable. I can't speak to the durability of the straps. But this belt-loop arrangement helps keep the cone in place (as long as your dog's collar fits well), and makes it easier to remove the cone -- all you do is release the dog collar. This worked well with my dog, as he has a collar with a snap release. If yours has the traditional pin-in-hole type, you may have a tough time. 6. Placing the collar around your dog's neck for the first few times requires practice as you learn to align the three outer Velcro squares and the inner Velcro strip (which runs the full depth of the cone). My dog was fairly cooperative, so it wasn't that bad. A more-hyper dog, and it will take two people. Removing the cone will be tough (and loud) initially, due to the tightness of the Velcro. Again, I can't speak to the pieces' overall durability. 7. Lastly, your pet will NOT be able to eat or drink with this item on -- it's simply too large. Maybe a Great Dane or a Saint Bernard can manage if they place their entire head over the food or water bowl like a tent, and you have an elevated bowl. Maybe a smaller size works better on other dogs. But for my dog, and this size, it's cone off, food and water, cone back on. Cleaning appears to be easy; it has a waterproof backing (both sides), so you should be able to merely wipe away whatever food or drool ends up in or on the cone (and with my dog, that was definitely the case when he slept). Again, I think this product would be fantastic for most dogs. I didn't get to use it much (it lasted 1 day when we saw it simply didn't meet our need); hence the 4-star rating. It wasn't right for my dog, but most people should find this item to be a terrific alternative to the traditional plastic cone.

Very happy with this collar
I found this collar after purchasing and returning several of the doughnut type collars for my French Bulldog. The other style did not work for his large neck and small body. I purchased the medium. He is 30 lbs. It has 2 strong Velcro straps, that stays put. He has been as comfortable as he can possibly be, considering. So far it’s been through 2 surgeries and recovery. It’s soft, easy to clean, and more flexible than the plastic ones you get at the vet. It even fits in his crate (he has to be contained due to a leg fracture).

YEA!!! 3RD TIME’S THE CHARM. ONE THAT ACTUALLY WORKS.
Finally, a collar that will prevent my little Havanese from licking. A tale of frustration, disappointment and persistence. One of my girls has a growth on her left hind leg knee that was infected when discovered. The vet put her on antibiotics to clear it up so he could remove it. We use warm compresses 2-3x day and then put Neosporin on it, leaving it uncovered, as well as the meds she has to take. If you read the warnings on Neosporin, you’re suppose to call the poison control center if eaten. That means, if for no other reason, licking is NOT a good idea. I had bought an inflatable, donut shaped cushion collar a few yrs ago when she had surgery. Having put it someplace where I wouldn’t lose it, I couldn’t find it but I was able to immediately locate an older plastic cone collar. We started out with that this time while I continued to try to locate the inflatable one. Problem is, she’s apparently grown since she’d last used it, thus could reach around it and lick her leg. Not able to find the old inflatable, I ordered another inflatable cushion collar. Her neck measures ~ 9.5 inches. I ordered the appropriate size, a medium. It arrived 2 days later immediately replacing the plastic cone. There was just one problem…. once again she could reach around it to lick her leg. Grrrrr! My research began for something that would work. It seems almost all these collars only measure about a 5-6” in depth for her size neck. She measures about 5.5” from her neck where her collar sits to the end of her snout. One after another was eliminated—if they even told what that dimension was in their descriptions. I think they are probably all made by the same manufacturer(s) and then private labeled, which explains why they’re all the same size. Depressed and frustrated, afraid she’d poison herself before we ever got the infection cleared up and her growth removed, I kept at it. Finally, I found the Comfy Cone., a padded, fabric cone style protective collar. They had apparently come up against this problem in the past of dogs getting around their recovery collars. They added extra sizes to their line meant to fit the neck, but provide a couple inches wider in depth so dogs with longer snouts couldn’t get around them. Now, anyone who knows Havenese know they aren’t large or long anywhere, so how her 5.5” measurement could be considered “long” I don’t know. I think the inflatables are just trying to save a few pennies on materials cutting them shorter in depth. Anyway, Comfy Cone has a size “Small - Long”. It measures 8” in depth and fits a 9.5” to 11” neck. Yea!!!! It's deeper than she is long, neck > snout! I immediately ordered it. Here we are, one week after seeing the vet and 7 days into her 10 days of antibiotics. She's still alive and doesn't seem to have poisoned herself yet. The Comfy Cone arrived a little while ago. She’s got it on -- apparently, it’ll do the trick. It comes with removable stays which I chose to remove, starting without them to see if they're needed. Without them, you can fold the cone collar back so you don’t have to remove it for them to eat, drink, etc. I folded a small section back so she could see peripherally and wouldn't feel so isolated from her sister or me. Right now she’s lying here by me, napping. It’s comfortable for her and she can’t reach her leg to lick it. Yea!!! She might actually still be alive to have the growth removed next week. Great design. Well made. Deeper to do what they’re intended to do, yet still adjustable. Comfortable. Should be easy to clean if/when necessary. What else could you want from a protective, recovery collar? I’d give it 10 stars if I could.

Comfortable alternative to plastic cone, but don’t leave unsupervised
I followed the measuring instructions and the ‘large’ 25cm cone is the right size for my small (22kg) labrador who had eye surgery. The cone attaches to a normal collar with elastic loops - it would not work well with a wide collar, or if your dog is able to wriggle out of their collar. The Velcro fastening is sturdy but my lab has managed to open it a couple of times accidentally by barging (with force) into furniture, so can’t be left unattended. There are removable stays which keep the cone rigid and can be slid out if you want to fold it back, but you have to take the collar off to remove them unless your dog is very cooperative - I guess this is a useful feature if you’re protecting a shoulder and don’t need the rigidity? But you can’t just fold the rigid collar back easily for your dog to eat. The cone is definitely more comfortable for sleeping than a standard plastic cone; it is less likely to catch on things, and doesn’t leave such bruises when rammed into the back of your legs. It is heavier than a basic cone, and hotter in the summer, and limits your dog’s peripheral vision. It is very easy to put on and off once attached to the collar, and the reflective stripe round the edge is useful for evening trips to the garden. I would recommend this if your dog has to wear a cone for any length of time, especially for sleeping in, but consider alternating with the basic plastic cone from the vet if you leave them unsupervised, or if the weather is hot.

Great sturdy and supportive cone, does the job well
I spent ages trying to decide whether to get the XL or XXL for our 48Kg rottie, I went for the XL and it fits him perfectly. Sturdy, supportive and stops him from reaching his back legs (post TPLO op). I think our dog appreciates the black colour, it makes inside the cone quite dark and he likes that. The Velcro is quite noisy to undo but it’s strong and I don’t think our dog could get the cone off which is most important. There is a little bit of weight to the cone which doesn’t bother our big lad but might be more noticeable in a smaller dog. He wore it for the first time last night and seemed to sleep well (including on his back which is his favourite position). Very pleased with this purchase, far superior to the horrible plastic cones.

Dirty, disgusting with another dogs bacteria on it! Do not buy. Item is not new like it should be!!
Item is dirty with another dogs slobber and hair all over it. Not a new product. Item was bought for my 1 year old labrador who is recovering from surgery and so I wanted a better product than the regular plastic cones. I don't expect to receive an item covered in another dogs hair and slobber which harbours bacteria and could infect my dog post surgery!!! One star given as I cannot put 0 stars.... But its definately a product to avoid. Extremely disgusted in this and I cannot return it as my household is shielding so cannot go to a return point. so I'm out of pocket with a defective product.

Better than the plastic cone from the vet
Bought this for my English setter (medium sized, about 19kg) who has a sore on one of her back legs and has had to wear a cone on and off for about 6 weeks now. The standard plastic one from the vet was very restrictive as she kept bumping into things really hard to the point where I thought she would give herself whiplash or fall down the stairs. I tried one of the inflatable collars which looked really cute, but she's too long and bendy and could get at the sore spot. Took a gamble on this, it seemed very expensive and when it arrived I thought it looked really bulky and awkward, but it's actually fantastic. It's really well padded and flexible so when she bumps into things she gets only a very gentle jolt. Plus it has a smaller circumference so there's a lot less bumping in general. I was worried about her vision being restricted, especially as she's deaf, but it doesn't seem to bother her one bit. It's also easy to clean thankfully, as she likes to drag it around on the ground outside. All in all I'm very happy and consider it a worthwhile investment.

waste of money
I was looking for a soft cone for my dog as she needs to wear it long term to stop her chewing an open sore on her back paw, There is a real gap in the market for this! I thought that this cone might have answered the difficulties but it was not a good fit. It was long enough and it was more comfortable for her than the rigid plastic cone. It is fastened with velcro and that popped open and she soon learnt how to undo it. The cone was very expensive for what it was and ended up being a waste of money.
