A honest review: A good Starter Smart Watch. **Update** Returning Watch
I was wanting to try a smart watch, never wore one before. I really did not want to spend a lot of money on something that I may or may not enjoy. In comes the Amazfit GTS 4 Mini. I saw some reviews online and on YouTube and a lot of people liked the watch. The price was right so I jumped on it. I have been wearing the watch everyday for the last month and have good feel for its quirks and features. Let me start by saying that this is a good starter smart watch. It does everything that most people want in a smart watch: heart rate, workout tracker, notifications, and gps tracking. The app is very easy to use and is intuitive. Here is my Good, Bad, and Ugly. Good: The watch is very light, can barley feel it on your wrist. Navigation in the watch menus is easy and simple. Has a good selection of meaningful different preset workouts that have their own metrics and interfaces. Battery life is fantastic, like really good. Sleep tracking is pretty accurate. GPS work pretty well for a watch at this price point. Watch interface is also good. Bad: A lot of the loaded workout activities are pointless. There is nothing unique to them at all. Some of the workouts have different interfaces and track different metrics but a majority of the workouts just show time, HR, and calories burned that's it. Honestly they could take off like 50% of the workout activities and I wouldn't even notice and I am sure most other people would not care. The hear rate monitoring during workout activities can be a little buggy. Some times I will start a workout and the HR will not work at all, and some times it does not read my HR correctly. To fix this you simply cancel the workout and restart it and usually that fixes it. It really only started doing this about 5 weeks in to ownership. The step counter is also a little bugged. When you first get up and start walking it may not register any of those steps, it probably will miss the first 20-30 steps you take. Once the step counter is active it is usually pretty accurate. I would say this delay in step counting accounts for probably 300-500 steps lost in my daily step count. You really need to constantly be syncing the watch to the app, the watch in my experience really will not sync to the app unless you open the app. The Weather function of the watch is really dependent on you opening the app and it updating the information. How the watch determines which notification it will allow to show up on the watch is just plain stupid. You have to wait until you get a notification on your phone then you can enable that apps notification on the watch. Although this does not work for all apps, some app notifications can not be enabled on the watch for some reason. It will take about two weeks before you will have all the notification you want on your watch enabled. The watch band it comes with is not good for people who have large wrist. My wrist approaches close to 9" and I was wearing this watch on the last hole and it still was not very comfortable. Got a new watch band this is much better. The screen will scratch very easily, there are some case protectors that you can buy that work really well and solve this problem. There are really no Apps that you can get for this watch, the IOS it comes with has a very small app selection to download and none of them are worth downloading. Ugly: The Alexa function does not work very well and I can not figure out why. It will work perfectly fine some times like when I ask her to start my vehicle and other times like when I am trying to unarm my Ring Alarm System it just plain does not work right. For example when I ask Alexa on my watch to unarm my Ring Alarm system she will ask for the code, I will tell her the code and she will then respond with a message saying that you cant play media from this device. I have no idea why this is her response. I go through the same thing when I want to start my vehicle using alexa on my watch, she will ask for the code, I tell her code, and she responds that vehicle has started. It does not makes sense why it works for one thing and for another thing it just drops the ball so badly. I use alexa a lot and I thought it would be neat to have it on my watch but since it is so inconsistent I don't even use it. The biggest gripe I have is that the watch will constantly say it is not connected to phone yet when I look at my iPhone it says the watch is connected. My phone can be sitting right next to me and the watch will say that its not connected to the phone. To fix this I usually have to open the Zepp App. Its really annoying because you will miss your notifications. Also, the range of the Bluetooth between the phone and the watch is dismal. You can maybe get 15 feet away before it will disconnect. Strange because I have some wireless earbuds that have no problem connecting 30 feet+ away. Overall its a decent watch that does the bare minimum I wanted and then a little extra. I have enjoyed wearing it and now see the appeal of having a smart watch. That being said, this to me really is just a beginner smart watch. If you are not sure if you would like a smart watch or not and want to try, this is a great choice for beginners. UPDATE: Returning watch due to a continuing issue where the heat rate does not work correctly when I begin a workout. I am also having issues now with the steps not being counted at all. I could walk over 100 steps and wouldn't count any of them. I think this is because the watch thinks I am still sitting or something. The standing metric of the watched never really worked all that great but it never bothered me but I bet that is the issues with the steps not counting. Not sure if I have a bad unit or not. Watch worked fine for about 4 weeks then I started having these issues with it.

Very buggy!
I think I bought this watch during a black friday sale, but it's still around the same price it is now (give or take a few $). Back then I was trying to decide between this and the fitbit versa 4 (which was $150 back then). I definitely regret choosing this one, but I DO like some things about it. The good: The heart rate monitor/tracker actually DOES seem fairly accurate (on my watch at least), which surprised me. I mean, you def get a delayed response while working out. The rate always seems a bit behind of what it actually is at the moment but for the most part it does seem to get where it should be (like it seems to take a minute to reflect HR changes). Regardless, it DOES track it. When I’ve compared it to one of my more accurate SP02 monitors, it usually matches up pretty closely. From what I've read of the reviews of smartwatches in general, the HR function can be a real crapshot on many of them (barring the apple watch, which is often credited for being the most accurate). This watch connects to my iPhone 12 which is running the latest update, but it always takes a couple minutes to sync when uploading the latest data (that’s a long time!). I DO get texts, calls, push alerts etc as soon as I get them on my phone though. Well, MOST of them….sometimes (though not often), for no apparent reason, the watch seems to randomly miss some. I suspect it's b/c sometimes I have to delete for more space and/or the app needs to be connected at least once daily. The alarm and sleep monitor also work pretty good, as far as I can tell. Checking my sleep score is now always the first thing i do after the alarm wakes me up (fortunately, neither of these features have proven to be the least bit buggy). I also really like the PAI system. I didn’t think I was going to, but i’ve actually found it pretty motivating! Surprisingly, this is one of the features that I would really miss if I got a different watch! It's just another one of those reasons I never got around to returning this watch. Also has great battery life. ***UPDATE***: A few days after I wrote this review (right after the return window expired) the battery starting acting really screwy! I left it charging while taking a shower and when I came back I realized it was making a scary buzzy noise while charging (it wasn't hot, so I'm not sure what was going on). The battery life also got stuck at 72% for days! The bad: This watch is pretty buggy to the point where I’ve pretty much been on the verge of returning it ever since i got it. Because of this, I don’t think I’d recommend buying it (you might even be better off with a different "amaz fit" watch). Of course, maybe it just depends on what you want and your price range though (now that the fitbit versa 4 is nearly double the price it was last yr, i'll probably just end up sticking with this one despite all its issues). The screen on/off/wake functions are supposed to be adjustable, but aside from the first day, I don’t think it’s ever worked like it’s supposed to! My screen will only “wake” for like 3-5 secs no matter what I set it to (on all the time, 10 secs, 20 secs etc - it makes no difference what I set it to; it never changes from its factory setting). The wake function is also pretty delayed and has become less and less responsive as time has gone by. It’s at the point now where I actually have to physically press the side button (esp during workouts) to see the screen! Restarting the watch does seem to fix this for awhile. The screen brightness has gotten more and more screwy as time has gone by. I always have it set to auto brightness and it worked great at first, but now it randomly turns itself up to max brightness. Sometimes, for no apparent reason, i've noticed it waking and glowing at night when its set not to (and usually doesn't!). Restarting the watch doesn't seem to many any difference. To be fair, I never have trouble seeing it in sunlight, and the screen rarely wakes at night, so this is not as annoying as it might sound. The “find my phone” feature is unbelievably useless!!! This definitely DOES bother me. In fact, it might be the last straw. FFS this is a standard feature that most smartwatches have!!! That's probably why "amazfit" is trying to pretend this watch has it, but DON'T BE FOOLED! This watch cannot find your phone unless your phone happens to be already connected to the Zepp app when your watch tries to “find” it. And I mean REALLY connected (you have to have used the Zepp app fairly recently, not just have it running in the background!). Even if your phone is right next to you, it won't be able to locate it unless you've very recently synced. Literally EVERY single time I've needed to find my phone, I get a screen with a big picture of an X-ed out phone that says "phone not connected." So no joke, you have to find your phone and connect it to the app before your watch can find your phone (rendering it completely pointless!). Another issue: the step counter is not accurate and not as sensitive as it should be. TBH I don't care all that much (i'm active enough that I don't care about my step count) but I sometimes get obnoxious alerts telling me that I need to stand up, or sometimes stand up and walk, often despite the fact that I’m already standing up and have been walking around! Even more annoying is the fact that it sometimes gets this big count down/target on the screen telling me I need to take so many steps in so many seconds to reach some arbitrary “goal,” but i can (and have) run laps and most of the time it doesn't seem to register that i've taken a single step! There's also a weird bug in workout mode with the miles - this watch often congratulates me for going the wrong # of miles. It’s not a huge issue, cause it DOES eventually add up your supposed mileage correctly, but it's pretty strange. After the first mile it congratulates me for going 0 miles, after I hit 2 miles, it congratulates me for reaching 1 mile, and so on, but fortunately, the watch face will still show the correct miles. I can’t say how accurate the GPS is. It seems to count my milage a little lower than it should be, but I don’t know for sure.

More of a fitness tracker than a smartwatch but great nonetheless!
I purchased this as I had an apple watch in the past but never utilized anywhere near all the features that are packed into it. So I opted for this product hoping it did all of the things I needed without all the "bloatware" and I've found (for the most part) I was correct. Notifications are great but you can't respond to them like you can on applewatch (which is fine for me). The fitness/heartrate trackers are great. I will say the pedometer may not be the best. I get steps given at times I'm seated or in the car for extended periods of time and when I am walking I feel like I'm getting more steps than I'm actually taking. The only other gripes I have is that you have to make sure to open the app at least once a day for the watch to sync up. Like the weather app on the watch will not update if you don't open the app at least one time on your phone. Additionally, there are a whole bunch of watch faces via multiple different apps but for some reason it seems like all the watchface developers are based not in the USA. This is totally fine but its made me have to get used to having the dates on watchfaces be in the DD/MM/YYYY format instead of the MM/DD/YYYY format I'm used to. Also while there are a buuuunch of watchfaces, most of them do not allow you to change which applications (complications) you have nor allow you to change things like the color. What you see is what you get.

Great watch for a reasonable price! Must buy!
I like this watch better than my fitbit because I can receive notifications for calls and other apps including my baby cam (Owltron). I can also get and read incoming messages from Whatsapp, FB messenger and SMS. I like that I can control my music and amazon devices. It has a stopwatch and a timer. The percentage of battery life that gets depleted per day is about 5% so I charge it every other day while I shower and it charges very quickly. If compared to other watches relative to prices points, you the the best bang for you buck. The fitbit and Samsung galaxy fit watches do not have all these features and they are more expensive. The watch face size fits my wrist perfectly. It is neither too small or too big. The resolution is perfect for what I need it for. The type of user I am is I like tracking my steps and moderate workouts (walking, running, cycling, rock climbing). I like that it will automatically detect and record my workouts (walking, running, outdoor cycling).

Great features, user interface, overall the watch checks all the boxes at an affordable price.

Fantastic battery life
Overnight sleep tracking and some minor installation of apps drained only 2% of battery within 12 hours which is pretty impressive. Looks like it should last for at least a week without charging. A bit confusing at the beginning 'cause it doesn't come with manual but I've found setup videos on YouTube.
