The Control Devices ball-type check valve provides tight sealing, and can be used as a tank check valve for small compressors or as a component in pneumatic circuits. The valve body is made of brass for corrosion resistance, ductility at high temperatures, and low magnetic permeability. Brass can be connected to copper, brass, plastic, aluminum, and welded steel. Fluorocarbon O-rings provide higher temperature and chemical resistance. It has female National Pipe Taper (NPT) threads on one end and male NPT threads on the other for connecting a male and a female threaded pipe. The NPT threads create a tighter seal than straight threads. The maximum pressure rating is 250 pounds per square inch (psi), and the maximum temperature is 250 degrees Fahrenheit. Check valves have two ports and restrict the flow of fluids and other loose materials through a pipe or passageway to one direction. Flow enters through one port and exits through the other, closing when flow reverses or stops. Two common types of check valves are ball cone valves and swing check valves. A ball cone valve utilizes a spring-loaded ball seated against a cone-shaped interior surface to stop the flow of fluid in a forward direction, and a swing check valve has a movable disc on a hinge to block reverse flow. Check valves are rated by their cracking pressure (the minimum upstream pressure required for the valve to operate), and they are used in various water, gas, air, and steam lines. Control Devices manufactures specialty valves, nozzles, and condensate traps. The company, founded in 1963 and headquartered in Fenton, MI, meets ASME standards.

Good inexpensive check valve for a home shop compressor
Bought two of these as I have twin air compressors plumbed into one air line and they have been in use for well over a year now with no issues.

The ball and spring came out in my air line.
Didn't work but a day. Probably just a defective one that slipped through. I bought 2 and the bigger one is working great.

Must have when retro fitting portable air compressors to a three-way manifold
A lot of people go off road camping and buy portable air compressors. It is now a trend to retrofit them with a pressure switch and manifold so that you can run traditional air fittings and inflator. But too many people overlook this check valve because without it quite a large number of compressors tend to leak back to the Head because they were not meant to be perfectly airtight. This will resolve the problem with leaky portable compressors and will hold the pressure from leak back.

Works well for the price
I’ve used this in a few places before for air control, this time was a slightly different application. This time I used it as a fuel check valve in top of my fuel tank for a diesel standby generator I’ve refurbished. Fuel was flowing back into the tank on its own if it sat long enough which led to a long prime time. I removed the inner spring with a o-ring pick and installed so gravity closes the check valve. So far is working perfectly for that.

Does what I needed
Works well and provides a full stop back-flow gate with no detectable leakage.

Solid built
Haven't used it yet but seems like it's quality built

Perfect for use on my remote aux air tank.
Just what I needed for a fill port on my 40 gallon auxiliary tank for my air compressor. I built an remote aux air tank out of an old gas water heater tank to use as a secondary remote tank for my 4hp air compressor. Fitted the tank with regulator, dryer, oilier, safety valve, tank gauge & regulator gauge, dump valve for water drainage, and needed to make a fill port. I was using a small manual valve which soon became a PITA having to remember to open and close it when filling. My old original tank on the compressor leaks, so wanted to be able to shut the aux tank off also so it wouldn't bleed back through the leaky original tank. So, I chose this check valve to replace the manual fill valve. Works very well, and was sufficiently fast enough to fill the 40 gal aux tank. Filled it from zero to 110 psi in about 5 minutes, so that is good enough for me. Seems to hold well for now. Seems to be well made.
