If you have been told you have arthritis in your thumb joint... these are great!
These are terrific if you have arthritis in your thumb. This is my 2nd pair- the first was also great but a screw broke after a couple of years and it doesn’t seem that there are parts for it ( like gel o has). Still is a good thing!

Game Changer
4224D Ratchetcut Cg Pruner For quite a few years now, I've been useing a two handed looping tool to cut dried wood branches and palm fronds down to trash pick up size. With this tool I can pick up the branch with one hand and cut with the other hand. Much faster, with less bending over. Palm fronds like the one in the photo take me three or four (easy) squeezes of the handles. Some reviewers here complaned about the ratchet mechanism's pin falling out. Others mentioned screws working loose. I uploaded some pics... seems to me that the unit is well put together and also easy to repair if a part did fall off and get lost. So far I'm very happy with this purchase.

BEST! BEST! BEST!
If you have never had a ratchet pruner, get one! This thing grabs hold and keeps ratcheting until it gets through. I have cut some very large branches with this mighty pruner. I have 2 now so I have one with me all the time. I am very serious about taming the flora that keeps growing in my space.

Okay for occasional use
The ratchet works fine and the grip is good. Unfortunately, they are really frustrating to use for more than an occasional cut. I use ratchet pruners all the time and this design is horrible for continual use. The placement of the locking mechanism is awkward to access one handed. Also, when using for multi cuts in a row, the lock slips into place during the cut and you must stop and unlock each time. Quite annoying! For my needs this completely misses the cut!!

Great Brand
This trimmer is sharp and easy to use. Not good for people with smaller hands.

Great while they lasted . . . .
Both cutters failed within two years at the joints - not sure if fastner loosened and fell out or just broke but basically of the 6 joints total across the two I ordered - three failed. Repairable but I expected better for what is supposed to be a commercial quality tool. That said, they are lightweight, easy to use, hold their sharpness for a long time and they cut great when the bolts/pins aren't missing. Ratchet action is a game changer. I use them to trim several hundred feet of forsythias. Lot of cuts as I trim the bush then cut the trimmed piece into smaller pieces for mulching.

I am so glad I bought these pruners.
I bought these ratcheting pruners for my Mom, she is old and has arthritis coupled with weak hands. With these pruners she can cut thick sticks with ease. My whole family had our mouths open when my Mom started cutting branches and clipping all her bushes. It was a trip. Best investment.

Great Tool! Never had anything like it before!
Had this tool for many years, it broke after such a long time, and I searched it again and bought it here, after trying others at local stores, this one can be powerful thanks to those gears in, can't go back to normal pruner now, it's like day and night difference.

I wish that I had read the previous reviews
I bought these secateurs because they were recommended by Which but I wish I had read other people’s reviews. They were expensive but they were just what I wanted. When they arrived, I was delighted. They did their job really well and then, just like other people’s, a nut dropped out along with the spring and they were useless. I found the spring but the small nut was lost in the soil While they worked they were splendid but that is not enough.

Not fit for purpose
I have used this 3 times. Today when pruning a pyracanthus with not particularly thick branches the black connecting part between handles came apart. It looks as if a screw or bolt may have come loose or snapped. My last pair cost around £4 and has lasted 15+years. This cost a fortune and lasted less than a month. I will be returning them.

Falls apart after 5 months
I bought this for my elderly mother who struggles with managing her garden. The other day, I called her to find that the pruners are no longer working. She said she found one of the big screw in the mud after wondering why it no longer cuts. The smaller screw is too small for her to find. Very disappointing.

Poor quality for high price item
The pruners will not fully cut through anything especially stems. Even worse the closer you get to the blade front (pointed end) It looks to me that the blade does not fully close to touch the anvil and they are even more apart the closer to the blade front. Given brand would expect refund (poor quality within a few months) but past date for Amazon.

Don’t bother
As with others, I went to use these today to find the nut had fallen out. Impossible to find in the garden! Very angry as only purchased on 13/3/2022 with money given as a present.
