PRODUCT DESCRIPTION Scotch-Brite Large Area Stripe Removal Disc effectively removes unwanted details from metal surfaces. FROM THE MANUFACTURER Remove Unwanted Details Vinyl decals, graphics, striping tapes – when the value or relevance of these visuals retires, the once-prized details may present users with a new challenge: removal. Scotch-Brite Large Area Stripe Removal Disc was designed to help eliminate unwanted details with efficiency and ease. The disc helps restore the underlying surface to its former glory without severely damaging or gouging the substrate. Ease of Use Scotch-Brite Large Area Stripe Removal Disc is built with strong polyvinyl chloride (PVC) foam. The powerful polymer can endure repeated friction – wearing adhesive moldings and stripes away by way of repeat motion. The disc creates friction and heat as it spins in order to cleanly extract adhesives and stripes. Subsequently, prep work with heat tools – like blow dryers, heat lamps and guns – is no longer needed, helping to increase productivity and speed the removal process. Now, operators can easily remove details without having to prep the workpiece with heat tools or messy spray and gel compounds. The disc will not gouge, mar or dent the metal surface that lies beneath the decals, which is why it is often used on gel coats, acrylic enamels and urethane paints. Additionally, the disc does the work of applying pressure, so the operator does not need to hand scrape with a card, sponge or knife. This disc may be used with a variety of tools, including a die grinder or cordless drill. ?Benefits of Wafer-Like Construction Scotch-Brite Large Area Stripe Removal Disc is able to clean a larger surface area when compared to the Scotch-Brite Molding Adhesive and Stripe Removal Disc. A series of thin discs are stacked on a shaft to form a wafer-like construction. As pressure is applied, the discs splay out, subtly, to expand their reach. Having the wafer-like construction, versus a solid curve, enables the user to access an even greater surface area. Altogether, the Scotch-Brite Large Area Stripe Removal Disc helps reduce prep time, messy compounds and operator fatigue. With the Scotch-Brite Large Area Stripe Removal Disc, the labor-intensive process of removing unwanted details becomes easier and more efficient.

Pretty effective, but you need to get the angle exactly right for maximum effectiveness. Also, quite a forearm workout, as pretty firm, accurate pressure is needed to remove boat decals.

Soesnt co.e with needed adapter which is t avaable on amazon
No way to use it as the adapter to use on a buffer does not come with it, nor is it available from Amazon or anywhere on Google. Kind of bs from a product made by 3m.

Removes Vinyl Decals, Graphics, and Striping Tapes quickly without damaging the paint finish.
The media could not be loaded. I needed to remove signage on a 13-year-old box truck with a lot of sun-baked on cracked vinyl due to the hot climate in the Bahamas. I purchased 2 Scotch-Brite Eraser Wheels on Amazon for $79.98ea and 2 heat guns to test which product works best. After using both vinyl removal systems, heat guns make quick easy work of removing vinyl from fiberglass box trucks. However, a heat gun is almost useless if the vinyl is very old, cracked, and sun-baked on after many years. You will need a Scotch-Brite Large Area Stripe Removal Disc - Large Eraser Wheel. They work fantastic for removing vinyl but do require some work as holding a grinder machine quickly becomes very laborious. There is also a little bit of a learning curve to using the Scotch-Brite eraser wheel. The secret is to apply as little pressure as possible and finding the "sweet-spot" angle of attack when removing vinyl. It is important to just allow the eraser wheel to barely, but firmly, touch the working surface. Too much pressure with the wrong angle and the tool becomes too difficult to control and literally runs away from you. Expect to get totally covered in vinyl bits and dust as well. So be sure to have proper eye protection, and face masks on hand before starting your project. My synopsis is, having both heat gun and Scotch Brite vinyl eraser products is absolutely essential for bigger vinyl removals projects, as they perform different tasks when removing vinyl lettering, decals, and graphics.

Best decal removal tool on the market
This product is also referred to as 3M LASR Disk. It works in combination with a standard powered rotary buffer such as https://www.amazon.com/Makita-9237CX3-Variable-Polisher-Sander-Polishing/dp/B00OKEDW0M/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1465598799&sr=8-1&keywords=makita+buffer which is what I purchased for the job. It does require an adapter nut, which I purchased at my local detailer supply shop the first time I bought one of these disks. Amazon sells it for about the same as that suppliers "wholesale" cost. If you need to remove striping, lettering, or decals off of the metal of vehicles, this is THE tool to use. It pulls the vinyl and adhesive off in short time. On fiberglass or gelcoat such as boat or motor home it does the same thing but requires additional work. You must keep the tool moving so you dont burn the gelcoat. I do not recommend its use at all on fiberglass/gelcoat if you are not covering back up with new graphics/striping for this reason. Just about every decal I remove on Rv's is being replaced with new decals so not a big deal. In that case remove from the middle out and leave the last 1/4" of vinyl at the edge just in case you burn it a little. Remove the last little bit using scrubbing bubbles bathroom cleaner https://www.amazon.com/Scrubbing-Bubbles-Antibacterial-Bathroom-Cleaner/dp/B00HY51IIM/ref=sr_1_1_s_it?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1465599245&sr=1-1&keywords=scrubbing+bubbles to soften the vinyl and a good razor scraper being very careful. Wipe off any excess cleaner before it dries since it leaves a crusty residue. If you get any residue, just respray it and wipe. To remove any remaining adhesive use Rapid Remover https://www.amazon.com/REMOVER-Adhesive-Remover-Graphics-Stripes/dp/B006RUJ2D8/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1465599350&sr=8-3&keywords=rapid+remover make sure to wear gloves. Oh speaking of safety using a face mask will become obvious to you in the first minute. It sprays particles of torn off vinyl back at you as it tears them off. I either wear goggles with a dust mask or a full shield when working depending on the outdoor conditions. The UVEX mask is nice https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001VXXUWK/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=2NJ9BR096AWLR&coliid=I2XRMA3HOMJFXR

Works Great, Stick to RPM
Works very well but really pay attention to the RPM. Too fast and it will come apart and hurt you. I have a couple of bruises to prove it ????

Additional part needed
This item is not usable as sold. The type tool needed to use this disc is a side grinder/polisher. You will need an adapter. It is not available. That part has been discontinued. I was able to find one through another vendor at an additional cost to me. After you get the adapter and get it attached to the tool, the disc does take off strips but wears out quickly.

Great eraser wheel
This item worked great to remove the old decals from my RV. I used it with the cheap car polisher from Harbor Freight. I had to get a 5/8 rod nut to connect the two items. Removed all decals from my 31 foot RV so it saved me money when I had new decals installed.

To use this product go to Home Depot or some other hardware store a simple 5/8" -11 x2 1/8 coupling nut is what I used to "adapt" it to my mikita sander polisher. Additional cost $2.16, plus the walk three aisles over from the acetone that I needed to remove the residual glue from my rv.
