Fantastic
The lighting is fantastic! I set it on a 9 hour cycle that has 4 hours of moonlight. I adjusted the moonlight settings since it started too blue for me. (Blue - 6 / white 1; of 99) The only area that may be conserving is how hot the system get, but no issues so far. I’ve had the light on some plastic tubing and it didn’t melt. It’s really just the top that gets pretty warm.

Works pretty well - with a few items of note
I will say this right off, it works well, fits the tank right across it all, and the remote works. I feel I got my moneys worth. One item I don't like - the light casing gets really warm. We will see if that becomes a problem in the future. I expected aquarium LED's to be much cooler in temp. As for the power - the power cord could have been longer, and the brackets on the ends of the light panel itself could have been able to set in length (fix them tight in length). The problem is - when you adjust things and move things - the light brackets can slip off very easily or even expand in width - - and then you have a precarious situation with the led panel itself laying right above and on the tank edge, or potentially falling into the water. I would say a couple set screws on each end would have prevented this. The remote control has interesting effects that are much appreciated for entertainment of humans. Not sure about the fish. The remote has a range of about 2ft from the receiver. Why 2ft?, I don't know - but that is the range. If I have to move within 2ft of the mounted controller to use the wireless remote - it ALMOST seems pointless to have a remote. I can see why they have a remote though, there are about 20 buttons on it. Not practical on the mounted control panel. Still.... I have bluetooth in a watch, game consoles, speakers, and various many TV remotes and ROKU and such - which all give me a range of 25ft.... - they couldn't put it on the controller? As for the hard wired part. All the wires are robust yet somewhat flexible and well done with connectors in mid-length to help remove and re-connect the wires to make installation easier - and that was a great feature to have. The mounting plate and the mounted controller look and work well. Very good appearance on the aquarium cabinet. The brightness of the lights is pretty good. Not great, but using this on a fish/planted freshwater tank - coming from a saltwater reef tank - means I might have too much in the way of expectations. It is perhaps very good for a freshwater plant tank. For LED's and their expected lifespan, should be good. Plants will tell me if it is good enough, and I will update this in 6months. I removed one star for the heat of the unit, power cord length, slippery end brackets, and the really weak remote control. NONE of which are a make or break on this unit. If the price is right - it does the job and does it well, there is just room for improvements in version 2, if such a thing ever comes out.

Bright Light for Planted Tanks, Tons of Functionality
I waited quite some time before finally deciding to order this product due to its high cost relative to alternative T8/T12 style fixtures. Now that I have the light, the benefits outweigh the price premium to go with an LED solution. I'm refraining from giving it five stars due to a few issues which I'd like to see Current fix in future versions. The light is extremely slim and if your tank is at or above eye level, will not even be seen over the top of the tank. Take this into consideration if you have an open topped tank as any disturbance of the water will allow some water to get onto the plastic housing which over time will decrease your light output, but is easily cleaned with a damp cloth. The light almost suffers from too much custom-ability which could be a turn-off for some people who are looking for a regular light to illuminate their fish tank. But, most people with fish tanks are obsessive about the hobby and will love all the functionality that the light offers. It allows for full customization of the type of light you'd like, allowing you to change the RGBY levels of the light to allowing you to showcase your tank like no regular T8/T12 fixture would allow you to do. Additionally, when turning up the individual color levels, this thing gets really bright. I have a low maintenance 40 gallon planted tank which is a bit taller than normal fish tanks at about 27" tall. I was worried about how much light would get to the lower substrate plants in such a tall tank. Within a few days after installation, the small plants in the front started to have new growth, which I was not experiencing with my previous lighting setup. The only downside to the great output of this light is that if you have any fast growing plants (like Java Moss) they are going to need constant clipping and removal. Within a few weeks my Java moss was taking over the whole tank and several bags worth of it had to be removed in order to allow for the light to get back to the smaller plants in the gravel/soil substrate. Lastly, I want to point out a few drawbacks of the light. 1. If you don't have the light on a timer, it never truly turns off. During the night cycle, it will go to a very dim blue nightlight. While I like this, I cannot see how with all the functionality of the light, that you cannot program a true dark period into your cycle. 2. When going between settings (full sun/cloudy/etc.) it is not a seamless transition between the two settings. It will revert back to a full bright setting before switching to the next setting. 3. No ability to program in the great storm/cloud/weather settings into your typical daily cycle. This light screams for that functionality which would allow for a portion of the day to have some of the great settings included with the controller, but unfortunately, your normal timing can only have one single light setting, with a gradual dimming to the blue nightlight. Overall, I cannot suggest any other light. The functionality you get with the light is great and it will really help your planted tank to take off. A few drawbacks are not enough to detract from me recommending this light to any freshwater enthusiast.
