It can handle it

Not going to be foney, but we broke some large right angle high rpm rules and I'm sure warranties, putting a 12 inch blade on it, but it handled the pressure, I was glad to see my brother decided to be more safe, and put the 7 8nch back on, probably the other right angle grinders that finally gave up, didn't have the power as this DeWalt, we also have upgraded 90% of our power tools to DeWalt, and I believe that they won't wind up in the bone yard, sometimes being 3 years older my little brother doesn't listen, but finally after 63 years, I think he understands good last longer money well spent, as long as it's my money, buy it and I'm sure you will be satisfied with their profucts

Best customer service I have ever had

I am going to say that I was amazed and more than pleased by the customer service associated with this purchase. The grinder is a good tool, but the particular one I received had (I think) a defective bearing or shaft in that at the second use it began to vibrate and progressively got worse. I could wiggle the shaft and the abrasive disc was wearing unevenly. This was at about 45 days of purchase. I tracked the warranty information and the best Dewalt would do is have me ship it to them at my expense. They would repair it and ship it back to me at my expense. the process was estimated to take 10-14 days and I would have a repaired item. I called Amazon got through with about a 45 second wait, pointed out the 90 day money back guarantee and asked to return the grinder for credit. The rep asked if what I really wanted was an exchange, which was exactly what I wanted. She gave me an overnight UPS return sticker and I sent it off in the morning. By the next afternoon, I had a brand new grinder which works perfectly. I might add that I live on a country road far from any airport. I even got the $20 off promotion I had had on the original purchase. This was fabulous. This was really above and beyond. I honestly don't know how they do it.

Cut through old galvanized plumbing pipe like butter.

Great tool for cutting old metal galvanized plumbing pipe. Just open the wall enough to accept the blade guard and go at it. Lots of sparks, lots of noise, keep a firm grip, and the tool is heavy so if you have to cantilever out the tool will be heavy to hold. This is the only review that will help you. All others are ridiculous because they show cutting metal pipe in a shop --- I can cut anything in a shop. You need videos of actual real use like cutting old galvanized plumbing pipe out and nothing else.

I Love this Thing

It's a beast. Even with cheap blades/cups goes through stuff like butter. Bought it to cut steel channel (previous owners of my house had set up a 2 story tower made of 1/4" thick angle and channel at the back end of the back yard to run a clothes line from the second floor window.). On getting the tower down very carefully I had to get rid of the steel. My little 4.5" grinder wasn't cutting it. This grinder made short work of the project. I've also bought a diamond cup for concrete grinding to knock out some high spots. Again no problem

Powerful tool

My grinder arrived with a 7" disc in the box. I read somewhere that it did not come with a disc. So I bought a disc before the box arrived. The 7" grinders seem to be used mostly by professionals. The casual user might be better off with a high quality smaller grinder. I have two sizes now.

This is basically a really good grinder. The 8000 rpm is nice. The size to power ratio is really good. The body of the grinder is only a little over 3" X 3". The only problem with this grinder, and it is the reason for the 4 stars and not 5 stars, is this grinder is not set up to cut with a thin cutting disc. The shaft that comes out of the grinder is not milled off to accept the backing collar needed for the cut off discs. Anyone familar with this will know what I mean. I was able to machine one of my collars from another old grinder I had and made it work nicely. But beware of this problem. I don't think I have seen a grinder in the last 20 years that does not have the ability to accept these collars. I am a welder by trade and use these tools all the time. Wake up Dewalt!

Good grinder

Like the grinder so far. Used it quite a bit and it is working well. Wish it had an adjustable speed and a trigger lock. Do get vibrations through the handles when using it a long time Wearing thick gloves helped

Durable tool, for grinding only

Powerful and durable tool. Used it for quite a bit of masonry grinding and cutting and still works great But was disappointed that the description when I bought didn’t mention the fact it can’t be used with type 27 cutting wheels Meant to be used for strictly grinding only I bent the guard a bit, to use with a cutting wheel, but not the safest End of the day, this grinder is much cheaper than other 7” models, but lacking a bit in versatility
