This tool does a poor job, for which you have better tools laying around your shop. My initial use was to install a brass E-Z LOK knife threaded insert in a piece of teak. The first thing I noticed was the non-standard drive on the tool. Logic would dictate a 1/4" hex quick-release (which is on the 5/16" version of this tool cutting the identical thread.) It's .3325" across the flats - too big for 1/4" or 5/16", too small for 3/8". a sloppy fit with a 9mm socket got me going again. When I tried to back the tool out of the seated insert, they were stuck together so that I had to remove the insert to retrieve the tool! No glue, no high torque, just some kind of dissimilar metals weirdness. Then I damaged the soft brass removing the steel tool (with rubber padding) in a vise. I found that a 3/8"-16 machine screw with a nut threaded on works much better and allows you to use a couple of wrenches on the nut and head against each other to unstick the insert. A FAR better solution. Learn from my mistake!
