Defect
Mine (large, color came as red... unspecified) came with a stitch defect that is really only cosmetic but for the price, you could get a much more substantial product from say SeaLine or something that is fully waterproof and seems more durable. This seems water proof but we will see it tested in the Adirondacks in a few weeks. The stitching is single and I can see this needing some emergency repairs in the bush if you're using the map outside your pack more often than not. The main material is like a sateen ripstop but it's thin; any substantial foliage will take this thing to town. I also won't assume that this is in any way going to be buoyant because I also won't assume that it's entirely waterproof and sealed. The zipper and materials are adequate and lightweight but the attachment points and overall stitching and construction are sub-par for the class of products I'm accustomed to, I suppose. I do appreciate that this product is made in America and I can overlook the stitching defect, especially since I imagine these are hand guided through sewing machines (oh the monotony!). Overall, it's an adequate and useful tool for any outdoorsman but I am still skeptical of the longevity of this product in any real-world scenario like overnight canoe camping.

Equinox hellbender map case
Recieved this case in the mail very quickly considering it's the holiday season. The map case itself is very sturdy as well as flexible and will be a great asset to my need to pull it in and out of my jacket to use during hiking.

not satisfied with the performance of this product
Water resistant barely, not satisfied with the performance of this product. Next time I will just use a large ziploc.
