ETY-Plugs HD are the world’s first high-definition, ready-fit earplugs. They reduce noise levels while preserving the clarity of speech and environmental sounds. ETY-Plugs HD are configured to replicate the natural response of the ear, so sound quality is the same as the original, only quieter. Regular use of high-definition ETY-Plugs HD while operating machinery, power tools or loud vehicles reduces the risk of hearing damage from the cumulative effects of overexposure to loud noise throughout life. Most users comment that they hear speech and environmental sounds better when using ETY-Plugs HD in high-noise environments. ETY-Plugs HD are reusable, but with repeated use, the eartips may lose elasticity. For best performance, if you use your ETY-Plugs HD consistently, replace them every 3-6 months. ETY-Plugs HD are not recommended for use with impulse noises such as gunfire or for sleeping.

Comfortable EDC Hearing Protection
These are my everyday carry hearing protection. Use these while traveling on trains, movie theatres and at all music venues. Beware that the case picture is incorrect. The lower cost pair does not include the key chain connected case.

Great for concerts, loud movies, and chainsaw work
The case easily tucks into a pocket or belt pack. I live the adjustable range and the string to ensure I do not lose them.

I wanted something less cumbersome than earmuffs
I wanted something less cumbersome than a set of earmuffs for cutting my lawn. These earplugs do a really decent job for the money. I had been using earmuffs for years while cutting the lawn. My earmuffs frequently got knocked off while ducking under trees and bushes doing yard-work....which i found annoying. For the money the ear plugs do about as good a job at noise canceling as my earmuffs.

they do a "pretty" good job
They don't shut out the noise level as much as I would like but they're pretty good. Certainly better than headphones..

Almost as good as fitted plugs for music
I am a musician with mild tinnitus. I got fitted earplugs alomst 20 years ago to keep the tinnitus under control but bought some of these ER-20s to use as backups/spares. In case I forgot to bring my fitted plugs, I always have a set in the car or in my instrument case. The only thing to know about these is the sizing. My wife and I both need the LARGE plugs, the "normal" plugs are too small for both of us. Everyone's ears are different. Especially if you are thinking of buying a few sets, buy one of each size and see which is right, before ordering the extra sets. The audio quality is almost as good as fitted plugs (mine are also form Etymotic). There's a bit less high end and a litle less clarity (I gave them a 4) but it's far superior to foam "shoooter's" plugs. I still use shooter's plugs for operating lawn mower, snowblower and other loud power tools, the more muffled sound is better for that application. If you are exposed to loud music on a regular basis, either as a musician or a listener, I highly recommend these ER-20 plugs. Save your ears so they'll work for the rest of your life. Tinnitus and deafness are no joke.

Do your ears a favor!
These seem durable and coming from someone who has used the Etymotic HF5 IEMs, I can say the eartips do last quite a while (say over a year). Of course, I'm assuming they used the same tips. Very easy to carry around in its pouch, just throw them in the pouch and rock and roll (in a much quieter and safer listening level). They do block a decent amount of noise level though I was expecting a little more. Some people say that they hear people better when having these on, I can't say the same. I do hear a bit of muffling and of course the reduced volume. As for fit, pull your ear upwards and plug them in so I know I got my fit right (hopefully). I'm used to the fit of these eartips so I knew what I was getting myself into. Newcomers may find some discomfort in the materials used from the first few uses. Just be sure to not just shove them in your ear. Though I was expecting a little more isolation and clarity in people's voices, these are in no way a bad product and a bad investment. Save your ears, and get yourself some!

We will actually wear them.
Our kids play actual rock concerts and wear these. They like that they can still differentiate all the parts and players, hearing what they need to hear. Additionally, they have had them for a long time and don't lose them because of the cord between them and because of the small case that just attaches to their guitar cases. They wore them at a Socal D concert too. We all did. I never used to because my hearing is already screwed up and the cheap ones just muffle the sound all together. I took these out for the mosh pit because they came out once, and I didn't want to lose them , but they stayed around my neck, under my shirt the whole time. Next time, I will try again though.

Best earplugs I have ever used!!!
I work as an usher at a concert venue and I used them for the first time. They were a tremendous help in killing the bass noise down so I could still pay attention to what was going on around me and deal with the fans that I need to attend to in my section. The only reason i gave it 4 stars overall and a 3 for comfort is because I have small ear canals which make things like finding headphones even challenging. I still plan on using them in the future. A little discomfort is a plus when I am in the venue and the music is blasting.

Piece of plastic, no technology, no better than foam plugs
Compared to the ER20XS High-Fidelity Earplugs these are just bits of plastic. I bought them to replace my old ER20XS pair. It's laughable to claim the end piece plastic in some way attenuates sound in a manner that preserves the quality, when the method given to connect them to the provided string is via a big bit of rubber directly over the so called smart bit of sound attenuating plastic (the ER20XS attach remote from the end piece). These are therefore like foam plugs, music was muffled, rather than all frequencies attenuated evenly, they're a waste of money, you're paying for a piece of plastic with flanges.

Really great investment for frequent concertgoers.
Fantastic. Already used them in a concert and I forgot I had them on.

Four Stars
Work ok, but a bit uncomfortable in the ear.

Great bit of kit
Excellent piece of kit. Purchased before going to see Guns and Roses, and glad I did. Music was still clear and loud enough but not painfully so. No ringing ears afterwards either.

Plug plastic deformed during shipping
Not sure if they work as described. Plastic was deformed during shipping so I don't think I am getting a good seal in my ears. I teach woodworking in a high school so I need to block the machine noise but still have conversations with students. Plastic has remained in the shape from when it was shipped and not expanded to the round shape you see in the pictures. Plugs are comfortable to wear for hours but not sure they are working to capacity because of their current shape. So far now 3 stars.
