Capable robot vacuum at an excellent price!

Robot vacuums have become a fascination with me (weird, right?) and Eufy (by Anker) is one of the brands I've had success with. While I've used everything from the flagship model from "Brand i" on down to very simple bumper-car types, one of my favorites was a second gen Eufy robot that we've used for a number of years now. When the main motor started showing its age, we started looking around for something newer and with more capabilities that would still feel familiar to us. When I saw this Clean G40+, it met all of the requirements on our wish list. When we opened up the box and did the setup, we were both super impressed by how quickly everything was able to be put in place and activated. This one was easier than our older one by a good amount. Getting it setup with the app was quite straightforward, and it arrived mostly charged, so we didn't have to wait as long as we expected. Then it was off and running. The app made things easy for us in terms of monitoring and controlling. I love that the ability to be self-emptying has not only come down to mid-range (speaking price here) but that it also works really well. There's no dust reside that my nose can detect and changing out the bags (which we don't have to do too often) is a very clean process. After several months of use, I can confidently say that had we found this before the "Brand i" flagship, we would have stopped looking. It can do all of the key functions and offers equally as effective app command & control abilities, for half the price. Eufy/Anker has been a go-to family of brands for me for many years given their cost-effective reliability and advanced functionalities, and this Clean G40+ only strengthens that opinion. Most impressive. As with any robo-vac, battery life and suction are the two truly key characteristics. Suction is excellent and this tackles both our hardwood and tile floors without flinching. Battery life per charge is exponentially improved over our legacy eufy robo-vac, and reasonably comparable to that "Brand i" unit. So far, we haven't seen any reduction in runtime between charges. Cleaning hair off the bar has been simplified from earlier generations, and while it will vary by household, it wasn't nearly the chore for me as it has been in the past. My only "be aware's" are to make sure you've got any cords up and off the floor and that if you've got any throw rugs, watch how the unit handles them. It doesn't mind a couple of our throw rugs, but it did get into a little bit of a tussle with a lighter-weight one in the hall that we've learned just to take up before running the robo-vac. Also, be aware that the cost savings vs the premium tier units comes from this model not having most of the "intelligent" features. Those are great for more complex room/furniture layouts, but for more normal rooms with less obstacles, this model will perform the same cleaning without the near-doubled price. There is basic room mapping/reporting, though you can't edit the map. Not a biggie for me. It does have internal logic for route planning, and that's what seems to matter most. So far, we haven't seen it get confused or stuck in a loop (as can happen with most robo-vacs, regardless of manufacturer), though our layout is fairly basic. There it is. Eufy delivers again. Great value. Easy to use. Low maintenance. Worth considering if it's in your budget and you want cleaning & self-emptying functionalities without a lot of bells and whistles. We're hoping lasts a long time, as it's doing a great job!

Good little robovac

We named our Robovac "Velma" and she is an excellent little machine. Setting up wifi was a bit of a hassle but mostly due to user error. Once my tablet was able to find her network, it was easy peasy. The app works well and it was easy to set up a cleaning schedule. She runs 5 days a week for me. The app tracks the consumables lifespan, ie brushes, roller, filters, collection bag, and you can order new supplies from the app which is convenient. Velma does a good job sweeping, though the corners of the rooms and some edges could use a little touch up after she is done. I live in an older house and have two dogs and she keeps up pretty good. I did have some problems with the roller brush and had to reach out to customer service to resolve the issue. Customer service was prompt. They gave me the option of returning the machine for service or offered to send me the parts to fix it myself. The fix required me to disassemble my machine almost completely. It was within my abilities so I opted to have them ship me the parts. I was mildly frustrated that after spending what I did on the machine, I had to repair it myself. However, it was easier to do that than to go through the hassle of boxing her up and returning her for repair/replacement.

Great Value and Effective - A good "Not too smart" solution for a cluttered home

We have a hardwood floor and several rugs of various sizes and our little Eufy works just fine. We've had him for a couple of months and I'm very impressed. Some things you should know if this is the right choice for you. 1- Eufy is "sort of" smart. While the app will show you a map of where he cleaned, it will not remember and use this information again in the future. Imagine a blind robot that encounters the obstacles and then makes note of them and does it's best to go back and forth and cover everything. 2. You can't keep Eufy from going down the stairs, or out of a particular room, so it's really not best to use upstairs if there's a fall risk. 3. Eufy can handle about 4 rooms before the battery gets too low. But it'll return to the base when he's ready. 4. I find it's good to prep the room by putting the chairs on tables, making sure cords and things aren't in the way. Eufy will grab a shoelace for the fringe of a blanket that's hanging on the floor and get in trouble sometimes. 5. It's OK to pick him up and start him from any spot in the house.

Great product

We have had a Eufy for several years now. Sometimes we even had two at a time and had them run together. It was time for a new one and I really enjoy this upgrade. I like that it goes back to the charging station on its own when it’s running low on battery. Most of the time anyway. And I love it when it gets back to the docking station. It empties the dirt on its own. Into a bag at the docking station. Great upgrades! Highly recommend.

Canister needs bags

I previously had an older model eufy and was pretty happy with it. When I received an offer to purchase a self emptying for a discounted price I went ahead. So far I am pretty happy with this one as well, my only real complaint is that the canister does require dist bags. Many canisters that I looked at previously were just remove and dump so it didn't really occur to me that this one was not like that. Taking bags wouldn't be such a big deal except that I can't seem to fine them on Amazon.... so I'm not sure where I will be able to get them or if I will have to purchase ones from a third party and hope for the best.
