Poly-Fil extra-loft batting is a bonded 100Percent polyester quilt batting with medium loft that creates more dimension when hand quilting, making it a great choice for beginners. It is light and airy for year round warmth and comfort and will keep its shape year after year making it a wonderful batting for bed or baby quilts. It has an even give, so it works for hand or machine quilting, as well as whole cloth and tied quilts. It can be Doubled to achieve a fluffier comforter look and feel. Poly-Fil extra-loft can also be used as an upholstery wrap to create the full plush cushions we all love. The 45” x 60” Crib size is the ideal size for baby quilts, lap quilts, art quilts, and whole cloth quilts and wall hangings. It will not beard and is washable after quilting making it a great choice for all quilting and crafting projects. Weight: 3.5 oz./sq. YD. And has about 3/8” loft.

Amazing Fish Filter

I have heard that quilt batting makes the best fish filters, and I found that hard to believe because it is not as thick as the fish filters that I purchased last year, but after one day this stuff had caught SO MUCH MUCK from my pond that I had to take it out and hose it off. If you are like me, browsing the reviews to try to find out if this is the right kind of batting to use as a fish filter, yes, it is, and it is absolutely perfect. It's much larger than the dedicated fish filter pads that are sold on Amazon, so you can do amazing things with it. I covered the entire net in my pond skimmer with this stuff. It is big enough to fit in my skimmer like none of the actual filter pads, and it can be cut to shape.

Stuffing for a recovery collar

Using this for a recovery collar on a cat. I have a cat who won't stop overgrooming and giving himself skin lesions. He's pretty much permanently in a recovery collar now to keep him from getting to his belly. Was having a heck of a time with them constantly deflating. Why do they even make inflatable collars for cats? Anyway, started stuffing the zipped cases with this stuff instead of the inflatable inserts. Easy to throw the whole thing in the washer and dryer. No more constant deflating. Perfect for what I needed.

Could’ve been a little thicker but overall it got the job done. I used this to wrap a door before wrapping it with a blanket for my headboard. I appreciated that the material was relatively flexible.

Works perfectly for crib quilts.

I use this for the batting of the crib quilts I make. I do prefer the Hi-Loft over the Extra-Loft but both work well.
