Work very well
We had a different product that burned out when the water level got too low one night. These have been great and have had no problems at all.

Water Tank Heater
Solid heater, the cord could be twice as long for better placement when placed from above. Cord protective covering is a nice touch.

Water de-icer does the trick
This unit works well in my horse water trough, keeping it from freezing over diluting our occasional snap freezes. It does start collecting mineral deposits from the well water and needs to be cleaned with vinegar or a de-calcifier solution after use (or during if prolonged use). The thermostat appears to work well, only heating the water when needed.

It fits TOTE round openings!
I have built 2 rain harvesters that catch rainwater off of 2 sides of my roofs. I used a 275 gallon tote and a 335 gallon tote, so, 600 gallons total of free water! Now we're getting extremely cold weather and their freezing up inside. The round screw-cap top openings are 5 1/2" and this tank heater measures 5 1/4 at it's widest. Guess what? IT FITS!! Drops down inside the round opening just fine!! Of course, this is after the tote was completely full of water with the top frozen iced up, and I had to chip away enough ice in the opening to begin with, and then nose the heater into the ice and plug it in, and then it slowly melted itself through the ice and into the tote water. Hey, this is all a survivalist invention, and a learn as I go kind of project.

Was effective during the last freeze
This thing absolutely worked and kept my water in liquid form during the freeze. It was awesome. It does corrode quickly. After the freeze, pull it out, drain and dry it and put it up. Lots of reviews say they can have a short life for this reason. I hope that with proper care it will last a few years. But honestly, if it only lasted 1 year, I get one every year to keep my water liquid.

Works great!
This is actually the second one I've had. The first one worked great until a really nosy young gelding broke it just for fun. I got this one installed easily and it was working great for the next freeze.

works good for keeping off the ice
This product works good. In my area we have gotten down into the low teens and the de-icer has kept the ice off. I have the de icer in many of my larger buckets and it works well. Most of the horses do not bother it, I have one that likes to pull it out of the bucket so I just put a piece of ducktape on the top of the bucket and that has stopped him from pulling it out.
