Simple and durable.
What you see is what you get. Use it in sand or snow. It did take some time for my 7yo to find a rhythm. The mold needs to be held upside down or balanced between knees, packed, leveled, and then successfully carried to and dumped in place. It's not as easy as stamping the mold around in the snow/sand.

Pretty fun at the beach, but could be better
Was able to test this out mid winter in Southern California. Some reviews mention that it does not hold sand and yes, if you are using dry beach sand, it is not going to stick. Just like building a sand castle, you need to use wet sand. My biggest gripe about this is the hole in the very top; why even have one? This does allow some sand to escape right out the top. Additionally, when you make blocks, it leaves a heap of sand right on top. Otherwise, a fun beach toy.

Hopefully will do the job
I thought it was a little pricey, but it is sturdier than the others advertised

Bigger than expected
It came and seemed like it was exactly what we needed for the beach...however could not figure out how to create castles as pictured. But still felt it was priced accordingly.

Really great gifts for kids AND adults!
I got six of these and had them shipped all the way to me here in Japan because I just could NOT find anything even close to this simple snow block maker. They came really quickly and, let me say, it was SO worth the price of the shipping. My Japanese friends just FLIPPED over these, they immediately started seeing images of their kids busy building snow / sand forts for hours while they finally got some way overdue P&Q, relaxing in the background sipping on their favorite drinks. And that is JUST what happened when one guy took his kids up to the ski resort last month. He said his two boys were so focused on that fort he couldn't believe it. Said the plastic was lightweight yet sturdy, with little holes making it easy for them to slide the snow blocks out to make a wall. All my friends said they couldn't WAIT till it was time to go to the beach, so they could get nice tans while letting the kids get at it. Until Japanese manufacturers get wise I'll be getting some more of these to gift out. Great!

It was a great addition to our beach trip!
I waited a little last minute to order so I was only able to get one delivered in time ( I wish I got 2-3 and my nephews and I could have made even more elaborate sand castles quicker). With that said, it was so fun and easy to use! Here was our creation!

Brings back the feeling of my own childhood
Had something similar when I was a very young child. As a parent to 3 boys under 7, and some recent snow, I had flashbacks to my fun in the snow so I had to order this. Overall, it works the same way it did 30 years ago. Several reviewers have mentioned that it doesn't really work too well for the more powdery snow but I didn't seem to have that much of an issue. Instead, I just packed it down a bit, filled it up a bit more, and packed it again. My 6 year old and I started his first igloo last night and after about 45 minutes, we had a great start before the dinner bell rang.

Fun for DAYS!
These are much larger than the ordinary ones that we have found locally. They pack very easily and the block slides out without issues of being stuck. My kids and I assembled an igloo including roof in no time. I would say less than an hour. We don't go outside to play in the snow without them. You can throw up a single fort wall in 5 minutes. Wish I had them sooner. Great buy.

not super efficient, the whole under the handle is preventing a good compacting of the snow, my son still has fun with it, but it could definitely be better
