Decent starter set, low quality Dial
The base is nice. Good finish quality on the wrinkle coated portions. Magnetic base works as it should. The dial itself is decent at best. Turning the dial to 0 sometimes doesn't turn with the ring. The indicator shaft sticks for the first 10 thousandths or so of movement. It is not smooth. My case was damaged when I received. See the pics. Overall the base is great. Good quality. The dial leaves a bit to be desired. This would do fine for many entry level uses. I wouldn't use this for anything I need high precision reliability for. The case I can live with. Where it was damaged doesn't look like it would cause issues with the dial.

Very nice for the price
Yeah its a cheep dial indicator and base. Still a great value for the money. I would highly recommend unless you are doing tool and die type work. Use it on my mill and lathe and it has not let me down.

Missing parts
I have other Fowler tools and I like them as a budget measuring instrument brand. This kit seems nice as well however mine showed up missing the thumb screw that holds the indicator to the base. I will be able to use a normal nut to get by but if you have ever used one of these you know how big a pain that will be. If no parts were missing I believe this would be a good product.

Nice, but......
Nice gauge however its difficult to get the arm to tighten. Got the job done with a little engineering. Not bad considering the price

Dial indicator
I use this to check bearing tolerance on Compressor frames . Only issue is that I wish this product was made in America ???????? it is pretty accurate

I had higher expectations
So the dial is probably very accurate.... I've owned many Fowler products and have been very accurate. The place where this fails is the apparatus that holds the dial. It's very floppy, and throws off measurements. I would probably not buy this because it was such a mess to even get it to work. The magnet is great, sticks great to a iron engine block. The rest of it leaves alot left to be desired.

Good bang for your buck. Magnet could be stronger.
Worked much better than my previous “clamp on” style with the flexible arm, sold by multiple vendors including Snap On. Magnet could be stronger, but for the price, you can manage. Dial indicator is great compared to the previous accusize product I tried. If you want a better setup, buy the slightly more expensive Fowler indicator (currently $57 CAD on amazon) & pair it with a NOGA stand ($100-$200).

No complaints
I am not using this for a living. Just wanted to check my tablesaw for setting it up and it did the job. I would buy it again and in reality I don't know how accurate it is but I know the dial moved at the same spot every time so it told me where the high spots where and really that's what I wanted. Look if it breaks tomorrow I will change my rating but right now I am OK with it.

not as shown
Arived on time in good condition however there is no tip! Not what expected for the amount of money spent. I would think all parts would be there.
