Freud router bits feature TiCo Hi-Density Carbide for maximum cutting life and are individually balanced; providing a cut above the rest. When you’re looking for a serious router bit, look for Freud red. About this Lock Miter Bit The Freud 2-3/4-inch lock miter bit produces locking miter joints in a snap. Ideal for humidors and jewelry boxes, this bit allows you to run one board vertically and run the piece to be joined horizontally. This precision-ground carbide bit is made with added titanium, making it virtually impervious to chemical attack. The bit is computer balanced to ensure vibration-free operation at speeds that are a safe margin above the typical 22,000 rpm of most routers. For use on CNC and other automatic routers as well as hand-held and table-mounted portable routers, this bit cuts all composition materials, plywood, hardwood, and soft wood. The overall diameter of the bit is 2-3/4-inch; the shank diameter is 1/2-inch. Applications Use this lock miter bit to produce locking miter joints on smaller projects, such as jewelry boxes, craft boxes, or humidors. It cuts all composition materials, plywoods, hardwoods, and softwoods; and it's designed for use on CNC and other automatic routers, as well as table-mounted portable routers. Key Tech Specs: * 2-3/4-inch bit diameter * 1/2-inch shank diameter * 45-degree angle * 1-5/32-inch carbide height Warranty This bit comes covered by Freud's limited lifetime warranty. FROM THE MANUFACTURER Freud's precision ground carbide bits have a grain size smaller than other grades and titanium is added making them impervious to chemical attack. Promoting safer woodworking is the reason Freud made a commitment to develop anti-kickback router bits. Bits are computer balanced to insure vibration-free operation at speeds that are a safe margin above the typical 22,000 RPMs of most routers. Freud's philosophy is woodworkers should expect safety, not pay for it. Overall diameter 2-3/4-Inch, shank diameter 1/2-Inch. See more

Good router bit, sharp edges, well made.
My husband bout this for a project he is working on. Actually, this his the second one. The first one arrived loose, bouncing around inside its case. So he sent it back for a replacement. A tool like this you do not want to take a chance on seeing how big it is and how fast it turns! This is a big router bit, heavy, well made. It is also very sharp. The instructions are mostly useless if you have never used this bit before. The setup block that you can get with it gets you close but the rest is trail and error until you get it dialed in. Once there, does what it was made to do well.

A great bit, but difficult to dial in.
This router bit does exactly what it supposed to, create a nice lock miter over a range of 1/2" to 1" thick boards. I am an experienced woodworker and I have to admit this bit is difficult to set up. I made some templates to help in the setup but even with the setup blocks you still need to run some test pieces to dial it in. I would only recommend using this bit if you have a high quality router table that you can micro-adjust. The real challenge comes if your wood isn't absolutely perfect. You need to apply even pressure at all times and finesse it just so, a power feeder would work wonderfully for this but feather boards and concentration will work too. Also cut your boards 1/16th" wider than you need because each pass will remove about 1/32" from the edge. If this bit is not creating a tight joint your router bearings might be bad which will cause bit runout and a loose joint (I had a friend with this issue). Overall I'm pleased with this bit and would buy it again, I just wish I could find a way to set it up faster.

Stronger, slimmer boxes.
This is a heavy bit, a large piece of steel and would not want to spin any other but a Freud. I made a new Router Plate with a 3-INCH hole to accommodate the 2-3/4-INCH dia bit. The 2-1/4-HP PC works well with it.

Great Joint - Tricky to set up
Don't make the same mistake I did. Before you try to use this bit, go online and print off a good set of instructions on how to set it up. I wasted 2 hours trying to set the router table. The instructions that it comes with are a joke and you need to ignore where they say the "center" of the bit is - the drawing is very misleading. I would NOT recommend any miter lock bit unless you have a good micro height adjust on your router table. It can be tricky to get the fence and bit height set for your material thickness, but once you do this makes a great joint. For long corners it makes gluing and clamping easy as it holds the pieces perfectly aligned and square.

Don’t hesitate- these bits are amazing!
I bought 2 of these bits and 2 router tables. I run my cabinet side panels through horizontally and the cabinet stile through vertically. It takes a little trial and error to get it adjusted perfect but it’s definitely worth having 2 separate tables so they don’t need to be adjusted back and forth. I have built cabinet packages for 3 complete houses so far and the bits are still cutting perfectly. I wish I would have gotten into lock miters years ago- my cabinetry looks so much better with seamless corners.

great bit, but difficult to set up
After many tests I found out that for 3/4" stock, the top of the blade must be exactly 1" above the table. From there it should be easy to adjust for different stock. this bit is huge and heavy, I run it at the lowest speed my motor allows, 10K rpm. very smooth, no vibration despite the weight.

Excellent quality, as expected from Freud.
I purchased this particular corner lock bit because of the previous reviews and the Freud reputation. It is also big enough that it covers all of the wood thicknesses I'd be using for projects with just the one bit. The bit is well-balanced and cuts very smoothly. The nature of this profile is that set up takes a bit of doing to get the two cuts to align perfectly. I made a new sacrificial guide fence so that I could embed the bit into the fence face. I am well pleased with this purchase and highly recommend this lock miter bit by Freud.

I love this bit ...
Great bit ... a challenge to set up ... unless you know how. I calculated that the bit height should be .650" + 1/2 of the material thickness. However, that still leaves the fence. With Infinity Tools Lock Miter Master Jig Set ... both bit height and fence setting are spot on every time ... regardless of material thickness. The jig put the bit height at .998 ... the math put the bit height at 1.02 ... that is a great tolerance. This bit makes a great profile cut with very minimal chip out (what chipping did occur was caused by me feeding the material too quickly). I'm now making perfectly square humidors with ease! Thanks Freud!

Freud Always great quality
I Like the fact it can cut 1" stock, Freud always great quality, but a bit pricey at almost 120.00 Opted for this over offshore due to working with fir, which is difficult anyways, plus lockmiter is a bit of an issue so wanted a cutter with proven quality and geometry.

Perfect!
Perfect corners. I've used it on walnut 2 separate times and had great results. One was a 3 sides walnut faux beam and the other was a custom walnut range hood. The miter joints are strong and look fantastic.

Excellent - tellement moins chère
Je l'ai acheté pour mon père et il est très satisfait. Même marque, même produit, mais beaucoup, beaucoup moins chère sur Amazon.
