THE FRIELING MISSION: Since 1988, Frieling has specialized in fresh solutions. That means developing and sourcing functional and well-designed products of the highest quality. Frieling doesn’t just sell products; they offer solutions. EASY TO USE: Simply flour the Brotform and place kneaded bread dough in the basket for its final rise. Then, transfer the loaf onto a baking sheet to bake. This basket is intended for proofing bread; please do not place it in the oven. After the bread is baked, you can then transfer your loaf back to the basket for keeping warm and serving. QUALITY MATERIALS: This proofing basket is made of natural cane that wicks moisture away from the surface of your dough to yield a firm, crispy crust. The design of the basket means the dough will release easily from the basket after rising. The bread basket is about 10" inch diameter and will hold a 2-pound loaf. YIELDS A BETTER CRUST: When you've put the time and effort into creating the perfect loaf, you want the best equipment to help it rise and to serve it. This proofing basket yields a better rise, a crunchy ribbed crust, and a superior texture for which European bread is known. It can also be used as an elegant rustic serving basket for your freshly baked loaf. TRADITIONAL BROTFORM BASKET: This is a traditional rising basket, just like those used by bakers for centuries. Now you can elevate your bread baking experience and harness the wisdom of years past with this high quality bread proofing and serving basket. It's perfect for all of your homemade artisan bread, such as sourdough, country white, whole wheat, and rye.

Great product, pricey but will last
Top notch banneton. Yea it is more expensive that other options that would probably work too, but the quality is superior. I own cheap ones as well and it’s just not the same. Only complaint is they don’t offer a 9” version.

Kind of pricey
Kind of pricey, but (I hope) worth it, the cheaper models look to be less sturdy and won't last as long. We make sourdough every week and had great success with this form. The crust is super crunchy and it has a pleasing, professional look due to the cane rings. The product description said it was for a 2 pound loaf, but it can easily accommodate a 4 pound sourdough.

great for authentic bread!
Using these baskets for your final bread proofing ensures the top of the loaf comes out with the lovely concentric circles (as long as you aren't using the liner). I have only purchased one size, but plan on getting more for making baguettes and smaller rounds. They are pricey, but worth the expense. They should easily last for years and years.

Use rice flour and you will have no problems with sticking.
I've been baking sourdough bread now for a few months. I was ready for some help with presentation. This basket did the trick. Using rice flour liberally was all the insurance I needed to release a perfectly formed loaf.

Glue smell, poor construction
Purchased this due to Ken Forkish recommendation in his book Flour Water Salt Yeast. Great book but Ken said it was the best and well worth the extra cost. Mine has small gaps made out of 5 pieces and has glue which you can see through the cracks and rusty staples. This is so overpriced there is no reason for such shoddy construction. I contacted the company and claimed that mine had to be a knock off that amazon was selling because theirs is such high quality. The rep from Frieling claimed theirs came in a cloth bag which the one from amazon did not. Eventually after communication through various mediums they agreed to send me a replacement. I got the replacements today and although sans the small gaps that the original one had they were exactly the same, rough wood, rusty staples made from multiple pieces. The shape was exactly the same and was not in a cloth bag. The cardboard tag in the bottom was also identical. Even the ones directly from Frieling would be worth maybe $8 at best. They look really cheaply made. I ordered another brotform from a different manufacture from amazon for $16 (Bake-Pro® Brotform 8.5'' Round BP-500) and the construction and look was very solid and beautiful with smooth wood. I know there is several good reviews for this but perhaps its just due to being recommended in a book people think its great ... $40 for rusty staples and glue! No thank you.

Really makes a difference in the bread
I bought this for my husband because he makes bread and kept going on about having the nice basket shape. I didn't realize it would make as much difference as it does to the texture of the crust and bread itself. It really helps to make my husband's bread super-delicious (and it was already very good!) I can't believe I'm admitting this, but definitely worth the money. Yay homemade bread! (When we serve it to our friends, they think we bought it at a local bakery!)

Makes beautiful bread.
Used for rising artisan bread. Works as stated — bread was deliciously crusty, tasty.

a little too big
I wish I had enough experience to know this would require 2 loaves at a time to fill the basket. I see now I could have bought a smaller one. Anyway it does nice job of patterning the bread so I seem like a pro baker to my family and friends. This always makes me smile since I am only an amateur.

work well, but far too expensive for what they are.
