Excellent quality, made in North Carolina
I bought the 30” square x 40” high Manchester unpainted cupola with copper roof, and am very happy with it. Everything about the purchase, delivery, and installation was easier and came out better than I expected. One thing I will mention, this cupola is 30” square at the edges of the roof. The description plainly says this, but it is worth highlighting. The outside of the louvered section is about 23”. I installed this as a replacement on a 24’ 2 car garage that originally had a very small cupola, and this one isn’t much bigger. Amazon delivery was LTL by their truck - super easy, I picked the 9am - noon time slot. By 9:30am a pallet with the cupola was in my garage, courtesy of a friendly driver and helper with a power tailgate equipped box truck. The cupola was in perfect condition, shipped as three pieces with the base placed over the middle section and securely clamped to the skid and stretch wrapped. Total weight around 150# I’d guess, about evenly divided between the three sections. Construction of the cupola: The base appears to be a nice quality plywood. Seven layer laminated and looks like A-C. Corners are mitered and have internal glue blocks for strength, workmanship is excellent. I know nothing about various wood species so all I can say about the center and top sections is that they are sturdy and appear well made. Pilot holes are predrilled though you’ll see I used my own fasteners so needed to adjust the pilot holes accordingly. Preparation and installation: Hardware used: 6’ or so slotted angle iron (Dexion), (12) 1/4” x 2” st st carriage bolts with nuts, (16) 1/4” x 1.5” st st lag screws with st st flat washers, roughly a dozen #14 x 2” st st fully threaded screws, 10oz cartridge of Loctite PL S30 Roof Sealant, paintable latex exterior caulk. Another reviewer suggested caulking the bottom louver so rain can’t flow in, I agree with that and used a paintable exterior caulk. I also stapled four pieces of screening inside the louvers. After masking off the copper roof I sprayed 3 light coats of gloss white latex house paint. My roof is a bit steeper than 10/12 (the pitch is measured as rise/run, meaning 10” of rise every 12” horizontal). A saw protractor and a straight edge captured the roof angles at the peak, easily transcribed to the base. Cut with a skilsaw and finished with an osc multi tool. Don’t forget, you want the cut to die out at the inside of the bottom of the base, unless you want to bevel the bottom apron at the same angle. The instructions suggest using 4 pieces of 2x4 as nailing/screwing blocks to mount to your roof, I substituted 2 pieces of steel angle (Dexion - like you’d build shelf uprights from). I think it was much easier. Cut 2 identical pieces of angle, with prepunched holes symmetrical around the center. Slit one flange at the center so you can bend to match the vee you’ve cut in the base. Set these pieces about 1/4” back from the edge and mount with three 1/4” dia stainless steel carriage bolts on each of the four slopes. Adding two additional angle straps midway, going between the two pieces you just installed, will allow you to fasten directly into the roof joists. Now predrill your clearance and pilot holes for 8 lag screws to hold the louver section to the base, and 8 lag screws to hold the roof to the louver section - you should make an identifying mark on one face of all three sections so you can reassemble in the same orientation. Rooftop installation is now fairly easy, which is good because everything is 10+ times harder when you are on the roof. Set the base in place, confirm it is level, attach with the #14 x 2 screws. Apply a generous bead of the urethane Roof Sealant on the four angled sides, none across the bottoms because any water there you’d want to drain easily. Louver section goes on with (8) 1/4” lag screws with flat washers (you predrilled pilot holes in the base so the plywood won’t split out). Same deal for the top - (8) 1/4” lag screws with flat washers. Conclusion: I give these people an A+ on this cupola. Quality and workmanship are first class. I had some questions for them and their customer service is excellent as well. It feels really good to be buying a domestic product instead of some offshore piece. And lastly, Amazon truck delivery couldn’t be easier.

No flush mount
Don't expect the sides to be flush with the roof. If you watch their installation videos, they never show how to cut the sides to be flush with the roof slant/pitch. Their hands always cover the corners. Yes you can install it, but get a pro.

Directions for assembly with product challenging
If you go to the Good Directions website there are helpful videos for assembly. Came with two small dents on edges of copper top, but not found until totally unwrapped two weeks after received. Good directions did supply the mounting rod needed for the cupola. We put screen coverings on the inside of the louvres to prevent bee nesting in the cupola.

Looks great
Purchased to use with a weathervane on the roof of our garden shed. It looks great, and was an easy install. The built in clamp to secure the weathervane is a convenient touch! Very pleased with this purchase.

cheap cheap and make sure to seal and paint it. INSIDE and out
Cheap staple construction thin wood and needs to be glued primed and painted inside and out. It will rot in no time. BUT looks nice and hope I get a few years out of it.

Very well built cupola. Heavy duty.
This cupola was a replacement for one that had been on the roof for 35 years. I expect this one will be on the roof for 50 more. Workmanship, materials, instructions all top notch. No complaints. We used 2x2s instead of 2x4s to attach but angled the screws accordingly. Think about what you need to do and adapt. Plenty of caulking.

Cupola
I am putting the cupola on my garden shed. It’s just as shown in photo, I painted it to match my shed and it’s the talk of the neighbourhood. Have added a copper duck weather vane to the top. Beautiful!
