Only basic tiles
I've been looking for a set of Algebra tiles that have the y, y^2 and xy tiles in addition to the x^2, x-tiles and unit tiles. Based on the pictures I thought I had bought such a set. Unfortunately I did not. This is a basic set, only x, x^2 and unit tiles. I will be returning them and continuing my hunt. I did not use the tiles, so I can't tell if they're sturdy or not. I'm sure this set would be fine for students just starting out with equations but I need a move advanced set for my Algebra students.

Great for classroom manipulatives
These are great for classroom. Students each can use a set to help them with equations

Cheap build. Wrong size.
The whole point of algebra tiles is that the x-bar should not be a unit length, so kids don't get confused and think that x=4. Besides that, the material is not the sturdiest, with some pieces splitting apart after being dropped onto a classroom floor. Although the sets come individually packaged, the bags are very flimsy and the number of pieces in each set is inconsistent, resulting in students having to sort them out and pull out extras anyway.

Pretty good
I love using algebra tiles in my classes for expanding and factoring. These are generally pretty decent, but there are ways they could be improved. I wish the positive sides of the tiles were all one colour the way the negative sides are. I don't get why the different sized tiles are different colours, but it's pretty standard. Additionally, I wish the length of the x tile wasn't equal to an integer multiple of the ones tile.
