PRODUCT DESCRIPTION Digital, proostional, accelerometer brake controller designed for use on single, tandem, tri or quad braking trailers. Digital, diagnostic read-out. No level adjustment required. AMAZON.COM The Genesis lets you apply full power in emergency stopping situations. The three-axis accelerometer technology automatically levels and senses the rate of deceleration. The Genesis Brake Controller features automatic and manual settings and provides superior braking response when towing single and quad axle trailers. Superior braking response with automatic and user-adjustable power settings KEY FEATURES * Exclusive Quik-Connect feature * For all single and quad axle trailers equipped with electric brakes * Full 12-volt output provided with manual lever activation * Superior responsiveness * Compatible with all electronic systems (ABS, cruise, etc.) * Wide range of mounting positions; perfect for steep dash surface mounting * Easy adjustment and standard four-wire hookup * Red L.E.D. indicator displays braking intensity and warns of short circuit * Automatically adjusts to road conditions and changes in braking situations * Easy to read digital display * Boost Feature gives you the ability to apply more initial braking power when towing heavier trailers * For use with electric and electric-over hydraulic braking systems MOUNTING ANGLE AND MOUNTING DIRECTION Mounting angles between –35 and + 90 degrees can be accommodated by the controller. The unit must, however, be installed so that it is parallel with the travel of the tow vehicle and trailer. Use the included reversible slotted mounting bracket and machine screws and fasteners to mount your controller with the back of the controller toward the front of the vehicle. Always be sure to mount in a location which allows the driver to easily apply the manual override and to see the red indicator light. AUTOMATIC OPERATION WITH DIGITAL DISPLAY AND STANDBY MODE During braking, the Genesis senses deceleration of the tow vehicle. An internal sensor measures the amount of deceleration and sends a proportional amount of power to the trailer brakes. The maximum braking supplied depends on the set up of the controller. The digital display will indicate the amount of power being sent to the trailer brakes. Once the brake pedal is released, the unit will return to “stand by” mode. While standing by, the controller will display the currently selected mode of display (% power, voltage, or current). MAXIMUM POWER WITH AUTOMATIC AND MANUAL SETTINGS Under automatic braking (via brake pedal), the maximum power is the percent of available power that is sent to the trailer brakes. Under manual override (via manual slide lever), the maximum power is the percent available power that is sent to the trailer brakes when the manual slide lever is moved all the way to the left. Choose Automatic Maximum Power settings to use the factory pre-set of 50% Maximum Power, or adjust the settings to your preferred amount of braking power. Use the Manual Override slide lever to apply the trailer brakes independently of the tow vehicle brakes or to override the automatic trailer brakes when less braking is required. The Manual Override slide lever can be used for emergency stopping or for control of excessive trailer sway. The tow vehicle and trailer brake stoplights will still illuminate during the manual lever activation.

Work great with little attention
I like this brake controller for it's ease of use requiring minimal setup. The only down side I found was that it didn't come with the mating connector and pigtail, so I had to cut off the connector and wire it direct.

Easy install but manual brake button is poorly secured
Easy install but manual brake button is poorly secured. It popped off the first time I used it and was a bear to get back on. If you use it be VERY gentle.

Hayes: Outstanding Customer Service
This unit did fail after about 4 years. However, Hayes is an outstanding company, and they immediately worked with me to get this unit replaced!! A good product combined with great customer service. However, I would prefer something not fail, but if it does, it is nice to know they have my back.

Great brake controler
I bought this product in 2009. Easy to adjust and worked great with my 32' 5er. Something went wrong with it so contacted Genesis for more assistance. The help I received was a new controller. What a great company to do that after 7 yrs of use.

Would not purchase another one.....
Purchased this about 2 years ago locally. I really liked it at first, did everything it was supposed to but after the first year it started acting up......first the breaks started sticking, we unplugged it, let it set awhile and then plugged it back it. Worked fine again for awhile and then the same thing over and over again! Finally it stopped doing it and instead decided to start breaking hard, I would look at the unit and it would be up in the high 40's and sometimes over 50? I'm only pulling a small 2 horse trailer and could barely tap the brakes it was grabbing so bad, it was getting dangerous! That's when I pulled over and said, enough is enough! Unplugged it and put it in the junk pile! I would have thought this unit would have lasted longer than it did for what it cost. Maybe it was just my luck on this particular model? That being said, No, I would not purchase another one.
