Excellent Inexpensive Fan
Most ventilation fans of this type are so overpriced that it's embarrassing just to comparison shop. If you pay a hundred bucks or more for a bathroom fan, it'd better sprinkle pixie dust through the room, or something. This fan works well and is surprisingly quiet, although the bearings are oddly loud. Still quiet overall, but with more mechanical noise than I expected and less fan (air turbulence) sound. Fine, though. Draft is good. The instructions are so-so, but maybe a third of the time you get decent instructions with anything, so I guess that's just how it is. Don't do wiring yourself if you're not confident about it. This fan wants to be mounted in a particular way that's convenient to new construction and probably half of 'old construction' (ie, adding it to an old bathroom ceiling or replacing an old fan), and it really doesn't want to be turned sideways so the grille is on a wall, or so on. It has push-in electrical connectors that are more trouble than they're worth; if there's any problem and you need to disconnect the fan again, you'll have to cut the wires, which is not helpful. My fan leaked a lot of air around the removable duct connector, so I taped the edges. Otherwise, attaching the duct was no problem. The fan's mounting instructions recommend removing the fan from the housing, in some cases, but doublecheck your install because you may not be able to get at the screws to reinstall the fan after you mount the housing. That won't amuse you. For the money, this is a great modest little fan. Better than average. If you're installing it yourself and have DIY experience, it won't cause you a lot of trouble. For new construction, it should be a snap.

Installation quirks
Note for Amazon Legal Dept: no wire clamp included with this product, nor mentioned in the instructions, as required by many electric codes. You might want to have Homewerks change this. A. I transferred old wire clamp to the new box (not mentioned in the instructions). B. Since the existing exhaust pipe was 3", I attached a 4" to 3" reducer. C. There are 2 screws holding in the fan assembly, not 3 listed in the instructions. D. Since the power was on a GFCI circuit, and it would open when the fan was turned off sometimes, I used a DPST wall switch to disconnect hot and neutral at the same time.

VERY QUITE
Hardest part was getting the old fan out. My vent was 3 inch so I had to go and get an adapter 3 to 4 inch. Went in without a problem. I had to silver tape the connections. That is difficult because of the small area. Just used 3 to 4 inches at a time to get a complete wrap. Screwed it to the rafter and installed the fan assembly. Runs very very quite. My old fan was sooo noisy that I hated to run it. I have the 50 CFM and the room is 34 SQ FT. It clears the room great.

Is it even on? So quiet!
I am in a rental so I've been tolerating a 1970s unit that is SOOOOO LOUD and doesn't remove the smell almost at all. I also left it on 24/7 because it was dying and I didn't want it to lock up. Well my girlfriend kept turning it off so it died and I needed a new one. I bought this, got to Home Depot 5 minutes before closing because I needed a 4" to 3" reducer and I installed this bad boy. It is INSANELY QUIET. I wanted a quiet fan but if it's not totally quiet in the house I can't tell this thing is on. It's a good problem to have. I can't speak to volume other than to say that smells leave much faster now. I should have done this sooner!

Works great, be careful when retrofitting!
This is a great fan, REALLY quiet! But: Be careful when you buy this to replace an existing setup. I only found out after I had the hole in my ceiling that this unit somehow seems to be about the only one with the outlet opening it that location - pictures for all other models I compared it to on Amazon show the outlet opening being exactly opposite (mirror image), exactly like the one I wanted to replace. => Since did not want to get into the ceiling any further and re-do the whole installation, I had to go through a bunch of fabricating and improvisation to make this work. Quite a pain in the neck.

Very quiet. Requires some know how to install
It was VERY quiet. Huge upgrade from the old one. 100percent did not fit. I had to cut the drywall and reposition it. The discharge is on the left side of the unit while my old one was on the right. Also the discharge is 4inches so I had to go to hardware store and get a 4 to 3 inch reducer. Looks.nice and is quiet. But if your looking for a quick swap it's not this. I would buy it again.
