Adjustment screw inside
The only reason I know this is because I came across a helpful review on here that I now can't find. Inside this unit there is a hole through the circuit board that has a little slotted screw. You turn that one way or another to change the high and low of the adjustment speed. A lot of people will say this doesn't work, and it doesn't make much rpm change out of the box (or if this is adjusted wrong I suspect it will do nothing but on/off). But you can adjust the screw and fine tune it. I came on here to get the fine points from the previous review but couldn't find it. Haven't adjusted the screw yet as I have nothing to test it with at the house. So I can't give more specifics. But I did find the screw.

Variable speed controller that mostly works.
I was hoping this would control the speed better, however due to the capacitor it doesnt start on the lowest setting. It also spins faster than expected which again might be due to the capacitor, but will not slow starts it whips into action and then slows down.

Ok I guess
I ordered the 2 pack. Arrived undamaged and pretty quickly. Pretty straight forward to use. Temp cord is plenty long enough. I assume the sensor is at the end of the cord. I am using in my greenhouse to control the fans. One fan per controller. I don't like the fact that there is only one mounting hole (as clearly seen in the pictures). If you want to mount it level, you have to support the weight of the cord on the plug in side. I also noticed that in the morning when the temp is just at the setting that I have them set on that the fans seem to hum a little like they are only getting a little power and then they turn off. Sometimes the fan will just start to turn and then turn off. I'm not so sure that is good for the electric motors. Especially the humming. I would be quite upset if I had $450 worth of fans burn up. I keep the fan controller on high and my fans on high. I have the temp probes located away from the fans and out of the airflow to avoid cycling the fans off and on. As of now I am unsure if I am satisfied with these. I like the idea of the temp controlled fans but I could just use timers as well. I'll give these a little while and see.

Cord is 33 inches long!
This generic speed controller looks like the one I had before, and looks like many others for sale. It was the cheapest by a couple of bucks and when I got it I found it to have 33" cord instead of the 6' cord of old one and others I saw advertised. Too short to reach the outlet, If I buy an extension cord I won't save any money. Going back. The description did not say the cord length; the other ones do. I guess don't assume anything.

Love it but can we get one change??
I understand that America is far behind the entire world... But I'd pay an extra few cents to have both Celsius and Fahrenheit labeling on the product...

Works well on PSC motors
Listing warns that device cannot be used on “shaded-pole” motors, so beware. This is why only 3-stars. This type of (capacitor-less) motor is ubiquitous in small A/C fans (ex. Vornado, and others). This speed-control unit works well on PSC motors (permanent split capacitor), which are also very common. This larger sized (15A) iPower unit has a replaceable fuse. This is nice. And with the higher capacity, this unit is preferred over their cheaper 5A fuseless version. Nice to have on-hand. BTW the newer DC-version of Vornado fans, makes this kind of device not needed. If you want an infinite choice of fan blade RPM (bedside table), you owe it to yourself to review Vornado’s (more expensive, but much more efficient) line of white housing DC table fans. The Vornado model 133DC is the pick of the litter, all the larger versions suffer from bad NVH issues.
