Jabsco Livewell Evacuation Pump

The pump installed easily but I had to do a lot of trouble shooting before it would evacuate the live well. Turns out that the problem was "operator error". When switching out the ports (alternate ports provided with the pump), the valve on one side remained in the port. It took a lot of trouble shooting and email exchanges with Jabsco technical support before I discovered the problem. The pump works fine once I installed the valve but it would have been helpful if the instructions warned the user to check that possibility.

Nice Fishbox Pump

I installed this pump on my boat last month and found that it works very well. It is quiet, slow and deliberate. Because it is a diaphragm pump, it expels the water in spurts. I am using this pump to evacuate my fish boxes that are located underfoot on my Boston Whaler. It is replacing the pump that came with the boat and seized some time ago. I hope it will outlast it's warranty.

The pump itself works fine, a little slow overall but it does the job. My complaint is that Jabsco does not sell the joker valves individually for this specific model pump, they currently want $75 for a "rebuild" kit that has the two valves + some un-needed additional parts. They do sell other sized joker valves individually but none that will fit this pump! Ask me how I know. Cheaper to buy a new macerator than replace these Joker valves! I would recommend saving yourself the hassle a few years down the road and go with a different brand.
