This tool replaces a 20-year-old tool that got dropped and is just as good
I have had a punch down tool for the last 20 years. It is not one that I use all the time but when I need it it is there. Over the years of plastic deteriorated and when I dropped it this time when using it it cracked and broke and it was time for a new one. I looked at the different reviews and this tool looked very similar to what I had already and had the same features. I purchased this and used it to finish the job I was on it works very well the existing cutters that I had for my old tool will fit in the new one that's a plus. So if you need one of these this is a really good tool and should be top of your list.

Good enough
The knife on this tool has a hard time cutting all the way through the wire and does get stuck in tighter knives. It's fine for smaller jobs, but I would not want to punch down several dozen ends in a day.

Worthy Buy
I work as a low voltage electrician and bought this as a back up punch. The quality is every but as good as my Fluke punch for the half the price.

A quality classic -- never goes out of style.
This is the classic punch down tool by Jonard. You cant go wrong with this purchase. They will last for years unlike the Klein tool I just returned.

Good Punchdown Tool
Bought this to replace my twenty year old Paladin Tools Punchdown that broke. So far, so good!

Great tool for 1/3 of the price of a Fluke
Had it for about a month and pleased with it so far. I work in the telecom industry and use punch tools daily. Construction and quality is good and comparable to a Fluke brand at three times the price. My only complaint is that I wanted to continue using my old Fluke 110 blade with the Jonard tool but it wouldn't fit when I tried to insert it by hand. My Fluke 66 blade did insert in the tool with no problem. The 110 blade would probably go in if I forced it but I'll just use the Jonard 66/110 blade that came with the tool.

Hard To Use On 66 Blocks
I'd have to agree with Drake's review. The 66 blade isn't sized correctly and it's hard to get over the 66 contacts. And once you've punched down the wire, it's difficult to pull the blade off. Luckily I just need it for a few punches here and there but this will really slow down anyone who has even a moderate amount of punching to do. A better quality Fluke blade might work on this tool but if you're going to spend the money for a Fluke blade you might as well get the Fluke tool too.

Used this to install some RJ-45 into a small patch ...
Used this to install some RJ-45 into a small patch panel at home. Works as advertised. Pros: - Inexpensive - Seems rugged - Does what's on the tin - Hooks on the side come in handy for removal of old wires and mistakes Cons: - Blade release dial on the bottom is really tight - There is a space in the back for a backup bit, but no backup bit is sold with the unit.
