Works well, very sturdy

Every home should have one of these handy in case of an emergency where you would need to turn off the water to the house. This is just like the one our plumber uses.

Got the job done nicely.

I regularly check my meter to verify billing from utility company. I didn’t have any special tool to open the meter box but could usually open it up easily with a large screwdriver. Then I recently had a situation where the lid was so tight, I couldn’t open it as usual. This tool was perfectly designed to overcome the issue easily. I am no longer worried about the meter cover fitting too tightly anymore.

Fits Austin “smart” meter covers

Westlake Hills , Austin TX This will fit the new smart meter covers but it takes some coaxing to wiggle it into the hole. When you first line it up it is obviously not an exact fit, but I pushed and rocked it back and forth a bit , and it made it. Feels like a durable material.

Works for Austin, TX new digital meter plastic cover

Struggled for awhile before purchasing this meter box key due to previous review mentioned that it wont work for the new Austin digital meter plastic cover. With some trying and debug, I figured it out. First, I have a pry bar that actually works to put inside the key hole to open the latch (but very hard to close the latch back up with it. I actually scratched myself doing so, thus looking for a key to buy instead. And because i am able to open the cover to see what happens when this key is put in it, I am able to figure out it works. This key barely pushes the latch enough to open, but it does work. After putting key in, you should turn counterclockwise until it cant go no more. then you should be able to open the cover with some convincing. I will attach pictures later.

Does not fit into hole in metal cover for accessing water meter.

I purchased this key in order to be able to remove the metal cover so I could access the water meter and be able to turn off the water supply to the house. This key does not fit into the oblong hole in the metal water meter cover plate. I had to grind off about 1/4" of material from the edge of the key to get it to fit.
