Great Design -- Dubious Components

The media could not be loaded. I had originally written a very favorable review of this tabletop fountain. I love its looks and construction. Unfortunately, after some weeks of use, I've had problems with both the pump and LED array that have caused me to rescind my enthusiastic recommendation of the fountain. First, one of the LED's in the six-LED array in the base of the fountain gave out, after just a few weeks of use. In my experience, tabletop fountain LED failures are quite common, but this was the quickest failure I've ever experienced. Then one day the pump wouldn't start up. I checked the instructions, changed the water, cleaned the inside of the base, opened the pump, found the impeller was stuck in position and gave it a twist. I also let the pump and base soak for some time in warm water with liquid detergent. I put everything back together only to find that now more LED's were not coming on. Yikes! At least the pump seemed to be working -- for a day. When I tried the next morning to turn it on, again -- nothing. Again I opened up the pump, found the impeller jammed again, and gave it a twist. This time I also squirted some WD40 into the impeller shaft. I examined the LED array to determine what the issue might be and found that if I twisted the cord back upon itself, securing it under one of the pins holding the array to the base, four or five of the LED's came on. So apparently the cord or the array itself had developed some loose connections. I contacted Kenroy Home via a form on their website requesting a new LED array. If I can't get the pump to turn on reliably without opening up the fountain every day, I'll have to request a new pump as well, which I trust is covered under the one-year warranty. I'm sorry to say that KH hasn't responded to my message after more than a week now. So I'll see if the pump is responding to the WD40 -- I also removed some kind of little rubber nib that didn't seem to be helping the impeller's rotation -- and may have to call KH via their non-toll-free number (they're down in FL; I'm in NY). The long and short of it is -- I love the design of the fountain, but KH needs to provide more robust components to assure trouble-free operation. Heavy sigh...

Afraid to unpack

When opening packages , styrofoam gets all over. Sticks to your hair, clothes furniture. Product light transformer had white stuff all over it, presumably, styrofoam. What a mess. Not sure if this is a seller issue or Amazon issue . What a nightmare getting this mess cleaned up and out of my hair!!!!
