Not CPS approved but still a quality tether offering basic restraint & protection
My pup outgrew his initial travel kennel and I needed a way to restrain him to prevent his curiosity from taking him on a tour of everywhere in the vehicle that looked interesting to him. Although the tether may restrict your dog's access and provide some level of safety, keep in mind that this is NOT a CPS (Center for Pet Safety) crash-tested device and neither are 99% of harnesses. Your best option is an approved kennel, which isn't always available or realistic for many people due to cost, space limitations, or other factors. Kurgo's tether is by no means perfect, but it may be a viable alternative for some level of protection by keeping your dog restricted to a particular area while traveling. Be cognizant that it's unlikely to do much in the case of an actual accident. Also, please do NOT attach this to your dog's collar. This is unsafe and can do damage to your dog's trachea should it yank against their throat if/when the vehicle jerks and/or crashes. Regardless, the Kurgo tether appears made of heavy materials that are quality and durable. The carabiner's screw gate locks tight and does not unscrew over time. (I've had this happen on other products, so you're forced to constantly check that it's not loose. Not the case here.) The tether quickly and easily attaches to the seatbelt. It also theoretically attaches easily enough to the puppy's harness--if your puppy is not a squirmy demonspawn like mine. I have used this in both the front and back seats of my vehicle. For the front, I slid this around/through the lapbelt. Otherwise, there is too much slack using the seatbelt across the chest (regardless of locking position), and my pup was able to pull himself further away (and even off the seat at times) than he should be for a safety restraint. Pup was also able to twist himself up around the tether on a few occasions, which made it even more of a pain trying to remove the tether. But my puppy pest may be talented that way. For the back, which is the only place I use it now, I combine this w/ a seat hammock. The tether attaches to the seatbelt under the hammock and then slips through a slit at the bottom of the hammock. This restricts the tether's movement a tad more and also helps keep my pup from getting tangled up quite as much. Is this perfect? Absolutely not, but it's still a relatively decent product that has its place to keep your pup from free roaming the vehicle while you're driving, which is dangerous in and of itself. If you're looking for a crash-tested product that will protect your pup during a motor vehicle accident? Look elsewhere; this isn't it.

Clip doesn’t always snap shut
UPDATE: Upgraded from 3 to 5 stars after getting a replacement clip that functions as designed. Much better than the tether that came with the harness. ORIGINAL: Good, sturdy tether bought to function with Kurgo Tru-Fit Enhanced Strength Harness. Unfortunately, the clip doesn’t always snap shut in its own, no matter which position the threaded lock is in. It’s a hassle to have to check and manually pull something that’s designed to automatically close. I’m returning for a replacement and hope I simply got a lemon. Otherwise I have to weigh the hassle of operation with the hassle of a twisted seatbelt, since the harness came with a non-swivel tether.

Serious seat belt tether
While this isn't a crash tested tether, it is, by far, the strongest one I have seen. The carabiner and the integral swivel appear to be very well designed and built. I've seen quite a few tethers with very robust looking carabiners, but they lack the integral swivel feature. Other tethers that have the swivel-eye snap hook connection will do the job, but aren't nearly as strong because the weak link is the thickness of shaft around which the snap hook swivels. I had a swivel-eye snap hook fail at the shaft on my dog leash and when I went to purchase a replacement at a local hardware store, I discovered a similar looking swivel-eye snap hook was only rated at 150 lbs. The Kurgo swivel shaft appears to be 2-3 times thicker and the metal work is pretty nice looking compared to what was on my leash and at the hardware store.

I wish it was adjustable, would be nice a couple of inches longer
I wish it was adjustable, would be nice a couple of inches longer but this is a sturdy attachment to the seat belt strap keeping our pooch safer in the car.

Just what I needed to keep my dog safe in the truck.
Use this if your dog tries to get into the front with you when you are driving..this can cause accidents if you have a big dog,as their head blocks the rear view back-up camera.

Great in Theory
This seatbelt attachment is great in theory, but not very durable. I’m sure it is better than nothing in the even if an accident, but my 1 year old lab mix was able to chew completely through the strap in a matter of 10 minutes. My 9 year old Aussie mix did just fine with it tho. Consider how playful and/or destructive your dog is when considering this purchase.

Works Well
Works well to keep our 5 month old large breed puppy securely anchored in the car. She can still get tangled if she isn’t careful, but the swivel helps that to happen less often. A heavy chewer would be able to chew through this easily.

Worked great for my 12lb dog! Heavy enough for my 75lb dog!
I was concerned about getting this tether for my 12lb maltipoo because I had read reviews saying it was not good for little dogs. It worked great! No need to worry. The size did not bother my little pup in the least (see photo). She's a bit nervous in the car and has a habit of spinning until she gets herself so knotted up, she can't move. This tether with the swivel feature made it so she could turn around as much as she wanted and not get twisted. I like that the carabiner is heavy duty and that it has a screw that locks into place so it can't accidentally open up. Other products I was looking at had carabiners that were so cheap they bent, or opened up accidentally. I also like that it is safety tested to a much higher impact weight than any others that I looked at and that it connected to the seatbelt. I almost bought another one that didn't have as high a weight impact rating, but it connected to the bar in the seat that you connect a child's carseat to. I read a review that the connecting piece didn't fit in the reviewer's make and model car, which happened to be the same car I own (Honda Odyssey). That made me leery of buying any tether that connected to the car that way. Another good thing about this tether is it worked well with my 12lb maltipoo, but it's also heavy duty enough to use for my 75lb golden retriever. We just got back from a 2000 mile road trip and this tether was a godsend!

Simple tether to secure a dog in place in the car
I bought the Kurgo seatbelt tether to go with the Kurgo harness. The tether is great and works with pretty much any harness, whereas the Kurgo harness has not been as useful. Appearance The tether looks as it does in the product photos. It is a simple loop and clip that attaches the seatbelt to the dog harness. Ease of use It is very simple to use and attach. It will attach to most harnesses and it is short, meaning that the dog remains close to the seat belt, which is important for safety and allows the seat belt to take up any strain from sudden braking of the car. Durability I have had this a number of months and I have no concerns about it's durability. Admittedly, it is not used very often, but I cannot see whey it would not stand up to daily use. Compatibility As mentioned, I believe this will work with any combination of dog harness and car seat belt. I don't believe you need to buy a Kurgo harness. The Kurgo harness I bought is very fiddly to fit and it has been replaced with something much easier to use. Conclusion While I do not recommend the Kurgo harness, this simple tether does exactly what is needed.

Very strong
Bought this for my small lurcher as I couldn't find one for medium sized dogs that swivels. She always used to get tangled up in her previous seatbelt tether and do the lurcher scream of death which is far more distracting than having her loose in the car, so I thought I'd try this one. It does the job, she doesn't get so tangled in it and if she does it is easier to untangle her quickly (usually just pushing her head down and pulling the tether over her head). It feels very strong but the clip is MASSIVE, much bigger than I was expecting and slightly excessive for the size of our dog! I wish they did a smaller version. The clip swells up a bit when it gets hot (such as when it's been attached to the dog for a few hours in a row on a road trip in a warm car) but with a bit of wiggling it still works. My dog has been known to chew through seat belts in no time at all but the fabric of the tether is pretty tough so there's no mark after a few chews before I catch her and stop her. Overall very pleased and bought another one for our foster dog!

Unsafe
My dog still managed to fall into the footwell & she got tangled within 15 minutes of our journey. I had to stop the car to untangle her & put her in the boot. If I hadn't noticed & we crashed she would have broken something. A complete waste of money & in my opinion unsafe. I would not use this again.

Brilliant design
The swivel carabiner at the head of this tether works so well, giving her security while scope to turn and look in different directions without getting caught up. I use the tether looped around the shoulder strap of the seat belt - this works best for our dog. Thank you to whoever designed this - has made a big difference to helping her to travel happily and safely.

So good, the wife nicked it
I bought this one for my car, but was out when it turned up so the wife snaffled it and put it in her car. I’m left with the old one she had, which is nowhere near as good. This one has a nice carabiner type fitting which is really easy to clip on to the dogs harness, and easy to take off too. All in all a worthwhile purchase.
