Not much improvement from older (frosted glass) model
I have a pair of the prior Kyocera salt and pepper mills - the older, plastic top model with frosted vertical stripes on the glass body. They don't make them anymore, so I had to upgrade to these stainless steel/glass ones. The new models are much larger, which is better for hand grip. However, they are aesthetically less pleasing and less unique in look. As many reviewers have noted, the mechanism inside the stainless steel top consists of a few plastic parts and a ceramic grinder and can fall apart. It is possible to pop them back together (it looks impossible, but be patient and press gently and firmly) and continue using, but just don't grind large, hard crystals of salt, it won't work. I use ordinary black peppercorns (works) and Maldon sea salt flakes (works). The advertised feature of using a knob to adjust the grind is not that great -the knob is small and smooth, not very ergonomic, and more importantly, don't expect an exact grind adjustment. Basically, it either grinds somewhat fine, or somewhat coarse. That's all! The only improvement I can detect from the older model is that the thin top lids, which have to be removed before you grind, are now made of stainless steel, rather than plastic, so they won't chip uselessly and look terrible (my problem with the older pair). Lastly, my new grinders only have the white words KYOCERA on the glass body, no other words, thank goodness.

...Prepare to be AMAZED...
These are amazing, order them, order some great salt and pepper and wait. Go to your kitchen, find all of the other salt, pepper and dispensing tools and burn them in your front yard. These awesome kitchen tools are all you will ever need, forever! Absolutely, ZERO buyers remorse, and these ain't cheap!

broken after 2 years
While I originally gave 5 stars that was changed to 3 after the ceramic mechanism broke in the salt mill. I'm searching if a fix is possible but I dont believe so.

Perfect for the casual table
This grinder type salt and pepper shakers does a perfect job of holding coarse salt and peppercorns for instant, convenient seasoning at the table. Your s+P will come out at the fineness you choose to be suitable for any dish. Super high quality, ceramic grinders will last virtually forever.

a lot of those great nutrients are in that "wetness"
I got these because my other brand new grinder would not work for wet salt. This does work, it just takes a while to build up a pinch of salt. I imagine it's the nature of the beast they call Celtic Sea Salt. I've read where people dry there salt first. However, from what I discovered, a lot of those great nutrients are in that "wetness", and when drying the salt in the oven you are killing off that part of the nutritious benefit of the salt.

Did not last too long
Great mill. Used the white one for pink rock salt. The upside down design prevents spill on table. Not too plasticky but not very elegant either. The mechanism is plastic. It fell apart after 3+ years by wear. Not very durable.

Love the all plastic / glass / ceramic
I love grinding coarse salt, but the humidity where I live just rusts the stainless steel ones. This one has been awesome.

Quality mill set, highly reccomended!
Quality glass and stainless steel. It feel solid in the hand. Great control to adjust grind from tiny to huge and everything in between. Opens in two pieces for refill, very easy to fill with large opening. Works great on coarse salt and pepper corns. It grinds better than any mill I've tried, just a couple half turns is all i need, compared to 2-3 turns on others. Only reason I give it one star off is due to the lid design. The lid just sits on top and must be removed and placed back on each time. Not only is that inconvenient but I just know I will loose it. Just wish that part of the design was better. That being said, i still recommend it. It's still great even without a lid.

One was defective, the other was the nicest grinder I’ve tried.
We got a defective unit but found out too late. One of the two snapped apart in a very clean way. It seemed to snap back together but a few weeks later fell apart. We were again able to get it to snap together but don’t entirely trust it. The second one seems very solid and shows no sign of being able to separate in the same way as the first. I like it more than our higher-priced French branded one. The adjustable grind is very consistent and does not take much effort.

Solid
Grinds really well, which is the main thing, very easy to use and they feel solid. A definite step up from cheap ones I've used and having the ability to change to coarser or finer grinds in nice especially for the pepper. My wife really likes to use them and for the way they look as well so they get top points for this alone.

Excellent
Incredibly smooth grinding, very attractive, and great value for the money. Wish they held a little more, but that's just because I use them so regularly now.
