You have to adapt it for outdoor use at night.

Fine for indoor use. Useless for outdoors at night, as you cannot read the black digits without providing a lighted or reflective background. After a lot of tinkering, mounted mine on white tape on a post on the stoop, facing away from the sun. Flip on the stoop light to read the thermometer at night. Start by peeling the protective film from the front of the thermometer, then activate the battery. Check the temp against your house thermostat.

Only goes down to Zero

Easy to mount and easy to see. Isn't effective when temperature is below zero.

As advertised.

I had a couple of very similar products for many years, but they recently wore out. In searching for their replacements, I ran across this product. I keep one on the outside of the window to see what the temp is outside, and one on the inside of the window next to it so I can see the inside temp as well. Even at night, I can simply line it up with a lighter color outside (e.g. part of an exterior wall) and then I can see the temps even "in the dark" (but you would need that lighter colored backgound for that). Reliable, with replace-able battery, this is an excellent product to perform a simple job.

Didn’t last long replacement already? the batteries, but it was it malfunction in the unit tossed it ordered another one different brand.

I had this for 3 weeks and it stopped working. It was very difficult to see in the window.
