It's A Christmas Gift
I used these puzzles with my Daughter, now age 30, and I know it will have a positive learning experience for Grandbaby Z.

A durable, easy toy
My 21 month old daughter loves these toys. She is running around this room with the elephant parts right now. She also loves a similar set of painted letters, but I had to take those away. There's a clear difference in quality in a lot of these wooden painted toys, and the cheap ones, like those letters, were chipping away quickly, creating concern about ingested paint or even splinters. These animals are far, far more durable, looking pretty much new after tons of biting and striking and grinding. Each piece of smooth and interesting. The heads of each puzzle are toys on their own for a young child, easily recognized. My daughter doesn't really assemble the puzzle unless I'm there doing much of the thinking, but she does get the idea. The simple board is also well made, and accepts the pieces with minimal effort. It's a nice way to build coordination and planning at an early level. The lines on the boards make it very easy for your child to realize what they are supposed to do. I just recommend helping a lot, of course. It's going to last a lot longer than we will be using it. It's an excellent value!

Guideline Images Under The Pieces Help First-Time Puzzle Makers
These are the perfect starter puzzles. At this age kids need a little help, so having a background board with pictures that match individual puzzle pieces alleviates frustration and encourages hand-eye coordination. Our one year old is just getting into this type of activity, and it helps that she has an older sister (4) to guide her along. The three puzzles keep them both busy for a good while. On her own, there are just enough pieces per puzzle to keep our one year old’s attention. The puzzle boards are sturdy, and so are the wooden pieces. When not in use, we keep everything in the original plain brown box they came in—nothing fancy, but it’s sturdy and keeps the puzzles organized and easy to find. The box says the puzzles are for 3+, but I think the Amazon product description is more accurate—ideal for ages two through four. Some of the most popular toys in our household are made by Tomy, the parent company who also makes Learning Curve toys.

My kids have played with this endlessly
I picked this up for my daughter months ago to have her get familiar with shapes, animals, colors and the such. She has had an absolute blast with this toy and continues to play with it every day or every other day. I think its a great addition to her group of toys because she learns while she plays. I can say without a doubt that I am satisfied with this set and will likely donate it to my brother when my daughter grows out of it since his kid is like 1.5 years behind my daughter! Quality is good enough that it will definitely last that long.

Good toddler puzzle
Durable puzzle with wooden pieces make it perfect for toddler use. It says for ages 2+ and I would say thats fair. My two year old needed a little help the first few times putting it together because it's a bit more advanced with some of the pieces but he caught on fairly quickly. Overall I can see this lasting both in quality and interest for a couple years.
