Hokey setup, and to claim "Alexa compatibility" is a stretch
Requires phone app, then scan a QR sticker which you need to save, create/activate a "LeGrand" account with email address, zip code, and acceptance to allow LeGrand privilege to read all your Alexa devices. Technically, an electrician probably shouldn't install this for a customer unless the customer themselves accept the "LeGrand Terms and Agreement". Seriously.. This may be a valid, legal issue for the installer who may not be the "end-user"; but let buyer beware and consider this too.. It may be "compatible with Alexa" but it's slow to respond, unlike other switches installed on same network. Not sure if this is due to the "third party software" and link which Alexa needs to make, but On/Off voice commands are not bulletproof, as other switches seem to be. In other words, this switch does not respond 100% of the time, and if the user instructs, "Alexa, turn off the switch", Alexa will acknowledge but the switch may or my not toggle. The user need to look and verify. Not cool. Install isn't nice either. The switch has stranded wire pigtails coming out of it and requires wire nuts for install, which is overly bulky and tough to fit if installing it into a duplex or even double-duplex junction box. No option for push-to-connect or side screw terminals, and the top/bottom plastic mounting flange(s) that secure it to the box just make this thing feel really, super cheap. - I'm an electrical engineer and I've confidence to say this "switch" is way overpriced for what it actually is inside, but setting aside the "value" designed into it, I've a serious question for LeGrand.. Why does the owner of this device need to reveal an email, street address and phone number, then create and accept "account terms" just to use or turn on a lamp..? And why is this important detail NOT printed on the product packaging? Claiming Alexa compatibility is a stretch, but if it works for you, so be it. Will I get all of my personal data back upon product return? Where in France has all of it been distributed? - Mon souhait, c'est que ce projet à la poubelle, comme il se doit!
