AMAZON.COM The Leviton ODS15 Decora Passive Infrared Wall Switch Occupancy Sensor provides automatic lighting control, and is useful for a variety of commercial and residential settings. This switch utilizes two passive infrared (PIR) sensors and is compatible with both electronic and magnetic ballasts. Two operating modes respond either to all motion or to changes in ambient light. A pre-shutoff warning, manual override, walk-through feature, and an adjustable field-of-view provide multiple options to satisfy your real-world lighting conditions. Adjustable Lighting for Multiple Settings When this switch is installed, lights will turn on as motion is detected, providing a safe environment for personnel who might otherwise walk into a darkened room. Change the settings and the switch relies on ambient light before switching on. A manual override makes it possible to toggle the lights on or off like a regular switch, or set a manual on/auto off to satisfy certain building codes. The ODS15 has adjustable blinders so you can get only the PIR sensitivity you need. You can save additional energy by changing the delayed-off from 30 minutes to 30 seconds with the time delay adjustment. For supreme user convenience, this switch requires a single screwdriver for easy installation. No More Blackouts and No Unnecessary Lighting Factory set for a 10-minute delayed-off time, the switch self-adjusts up to 30 minutes to compensate for real-time occupancy patterns. It beeps three times as a warning shortly before shutting off the lights, giving you a chance to reactivate the sensor. The unit also offers a walk-through feature that shuts lights off after momentary occupancy, providing increased energy savings. Durable and Versatile Design The ODS15 is compatible with both electronic and magnetic ballasts. The sensor switches on or off at the zero crossing point of the AC power curve for contact durability and compatibility with electronic ballasts. Useful with 120- to 227-volt lighting, the circuitry in this switch is specifically designed to handle today's high inrush of electronic ballast loads. For retrofitting into older wiring systems, neutral-free wiring is an option. This product comes with a manufacturer's limited five-year warranty. Works well.
I hooked this sensor up to a light above the laundry in the basement. It works well, but over the last year it has stuck on twice and wouldn't shut off at all. Not sure why, there was no motion at all in the basement. I would buy another one. Keep in mind that these will NOT fit into a 2x4 box without an extension on it because of the wire nuts. I recommend buying a 4x4 with a 2x4 adapter. Or buy a 4x4 with a switch/rectangle opening cover, then add a switch.

Flexible operation vs. simple set up. Can't have both. Which do you want?
Amazon.com gets 5 stars, this wall switch gets 5 stars, and I give myself 1 star for having chosen this product. While that rating must sound strange, I will explain. My old, simple infrared wall switch failed after 10 years. I searched for a replacement and discovered this Leviton ODS15-IDW on Amazon. The description seemed like it could do the most interesting tasks, way beyond my simple, failed switch. I installed it but I could not get it to work. The instructions are well written, in English, and not translated from a foreign language. But because the switch is so incredibly complex, the instructions likewise were incredibly complex. I am a graduate electrical engineer with extensive computer skills but the level of complexity built into this device eluded me. So, I hunted for an electrician who I knew would be able to figure out how to install it. Licensed electricians in my city are easy to find but none could come out to install the switch for at least a month. When the electrician did arrive, he found that the switch was actually dead on arrival. I checked the date when I ordered it and discovered that more than 30 days had elapsed. Amazon's exchange policy is liberal but expires at the end of 30 days. I wrote a note to Amazon asking if they would make an exception in my case and within 3 hours I received a most generous note telling me that they will be making an exception and be sending a replacement immediately. What fantastic customer service! When the replacement switch arrived, I did have the electrician install it and it did work. However, it took a few days of my fiddling with it to get it to do what I wanted, namely, turn on the lights when I walked into the dark garage. But because it had multiple modes of operation and a dynamic learning mode which observed my habits, it actually would change itself trying to improve. The instructions were very readable but just very hard to understand exactly how that switch was going to operate and exactly what you had to do to get it to do something very simple. It is now working just like my simple switch that had failed. I gave myself only 1 star for having chosen a product that really was much more flexible and complex than I would ever need. I would recommend that if you have a simple application for an infrared wall switch that you look at some of Leviton's other much more simple (and less expensive) models which will most likely install easily and work the 1st time perfectly. If you do purchase my model, pay attention to the cautions and warnings in the instruction manual. They are there because the micro computer that is inside this product can be easily destroyed by failing to follow the instructions exactly. Good luck.

Confused by listing
Seller does not mention that this requires its own separate power source in the listing. This is unsuitable if you don't have 4 wires available. It was frustrating, had to return it. Got a wind-up timer switch from intermatic instead. This won't work if you only have 2 wires, this is how a large number of residential circuits would be designed, especially if they are older.

DO YOUR FAMILY MEMBERS LEAVE LIGHTS ON EVERYWHERE?
It turns the light on/off---manually or because someone enters the space or has left. It works with LEDS (older switches don't). It's expensive, BUT... You can adjust the time the light stays on after the room is empty. (Don't want the lights to go out while you're in the shower) You can adjust the distance at which the switch senses a person, and you can shutter the sensor to reduce the area that the sensor views. (This prevents the light coming on when someone walks by the open doorway of a room with the switch). With the range adjustment and wide angle view, the switch functions in larger areas like my garage and shop even when I enter from the opposite side and stays on no matter where I am in the room. Because my shop and garage have a lot of light fixtures, watt capacity of a switch is an issue even with LED's (lower watt consumption). This switch will handle larger loads. You can adjust the switch to always come on or to only come on in low light situations. Great for bathrooms, storage rooms, basements, garages, shops, barns, outbuildings, stairways. Great if it's dark or you have your hands full. People walk through the house and outbuildings with lights turning on as they approach and going out after they pass. No looking for switches; no lights left on. This seller's price lowest price is pretty good, but depending on the switch color, the price could be wacky and variable. CAUTION: The instructions are clearly written, but the devil is in the details. If the switch fails to work properly, it's most likely installer error. For example: there is an "off/on/auto" toggle on the front-bottom of the switch that has a purpose (never mind what), but it is not accessible with the switch cover plate on. You wouldn't know it's there if you didn't read the instructions. If you "fat-thumb" that toggle out of the "auto" position during installation, the switch will never work, and you won't know why. The switch is automatic. You can switch it off manually as you leave, but it will automatically turn on if someone passes in range. This is hardly a problem, but if you really want to make it inoperable sometimes, you can install it downhill of a normal off/on light switch. A switch ONLY for those who like to tinker. Not for the "feint of heart."

Fantastic Garage motion switch!
I previously had a smart switch which tied into Smart Things and Alexa but the motion detection had to be based on cameras and other devices which was not as reliable. This motion switch works independently and does a great job. I never worry about the light being left on or turning off while someone is in the garage. The only think I would change would be the ability to have it then off after 5 mins of no detection, the lowest value is 10 mins but that’s a small ding against this product. I love it.

Installed in my garage and I love it. The best feature in my opinion is that you can adjust the time it will turn the light off after it stops sensing movement in the room. I've setup the time out to 5 minutes and it never turns of when I'm in the garage doing something. You can also adjust it to stay off if there is enough natural light available.

Increiblemente malo
