Decent working lock

I got the lock to hopefully help Mom out, but it's a little more 'work' than she wants. It's a little tough for a 60 year old lady to grasp the concept of typing in the correct code, hitting the top button and waiting for the motor to fire before she tries to turn the knob. Mom complained that the key was very tough to turn, the lock binds up, and that the nub on the inside didn't work (but I can't verify it myself from 1000 miles away). Being its a little too advanced for her, she wants to go back to a regular key lock... So she's heading to Walmart to get a Schlage and send me the LockState. I found after receiving the lock when trying to set it up that it requires an ongoing monthly subscription to manage the lock through the LockState website. The site is relatively intuitive and easily navigable, however the subscription rubbed me wrong. They apparently also offer thermostats and other home automation devices that you can manage on the same site and pay additional for. By contrast, Honeywell offers a wifi thermostat that you manage on their site for free.

WORST LOCK YOU COULD EVER BUY, WITH POOR SERVICE AND A VERY POOR DESIGN. Fails closed and the key will not work !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have tried five of these locks. Each and every time the lock fails in the closed position. I have called many times to lockstate. There customer service is just as bad as there locks. Sometimes i wait over 20 minutes before they pickup the phone. They make me take it apart and put it back together and it works for a week or two. After many phone calls and pissed off renters from my villa's in Puerto Rico not being able to get into the villa, not even with a key. Yes even the key does not work when this piece of crap lock fails. It is spring loaded shut and the spring is stronger that you. DO NOT BUY THIS LOCK, I HAVE DROPPED $1500 ON THIS AND JUST FINALLY GOT LOCKSTATE TO CREDIT ME THE MONEY FOR THERE NEW LS6i. Lets hope they took more time to field test this clock before just sending it out to anyone like the other lock LS-500 series lock they offer. NONE OF THEM WORK, TRUST ME. It makes me sad that they are not offering to exchange locks knowing there product does not work. Honesty is the best policy and Lockstate.com has soul searching to do on this one.

I don't write reviews often but felt I needed to on this item. I could have gotten a lemon but it is one of the most disappointing things I have ever purchased. It loses internet connection on a regular basis and the batteries consistently go dead every couple of weeks. It's the pits to open it up to remove the battery to reset or replace. If it wasn't such a chore to replace the entire thing I would return it so I use it just like an old fashioned key lock and a very expensive key lock at that.
