A flawless pairing of form and function, the Lodge Enameled Dutch Oven is a classic way to both prepare and serve memorable meals. The 6 quart capacity is perfect for pot roasts, scrumptious stews, or a large batch of beans. Broil, braise, bake or roast in the oven up to 500 Degree F. Great for induction cooktops. Sauté, simmer or fry on any stovetop. The right tool to marinate, refrigerate, cook and serve with unparalleled in heat retention and even heating. ENAMEL BASICS: If cookware includes rubber bumpers, set aside and keep for storage. The porcelain (glass) finish is hard, but can be chipped if banged or dropped. Interior protection must be used to prevent chipping if cookware is stacked. There is no exposed cast iron on your enamel cookware. The black cooking surfaces, pot rims and lid rims are matte porcelain. Oil rim after use. Smooth glass surface won't react to ingredients. Use vegetable oil or cooking spray for better cooking and easier cleaning. LET'S COOK: All new cookware should be rinsed and dried thoroughly before your first use. Always lift cookware on smooth-top stoves. Sliding anything can scratch the surface. Be sure to protect your hands, our handles get hot too. Protect counter tops/tables by placing hot cookware on trivets or heavy cloths. Cast iron performs best when heated and cooled gradually. Cast iron has superior heat retention and rarely requires a "high" heat setting. Do not heat an empty enameled Dutch oven. Use wooden, silicon or nylon utensils. Metal can scratch the porcelain. QUICK CARE: Although dishwasher safe, hand washing with warm soapy water is recommended to preserve the cookware's original appearance.

FAMILY-OWNED. Lodge is more than just a business; it’s a family. The Lodge family founded the company in 1896, and they still own it today. From environmental responsibility to community development, their heads and hearts are rooted in America. All Lodge seasoned cast iron and carbon steel cookware is proudly made in the USA, meaning you’ll get craftsmanship that has been passed down through generations. Lodge Enameled Iron products are made in China to strict metallurgical and casting specifications. MAKE EVERY MEAL A MEMORY. Lodge knows that cooking is about more than just the food; it’s about the memories. WHAT IS PORCELAIN ENAMEL ON CAST IRON. It is actually glass that becomes bonded to the cast iron at high temperatures. A particulate of glass, called frit, is applied to the cast iron vessel and then baked at temperatures between 1200 and 1400° F. The glass frit melts and fuses to the cast iron, forming a bond. Porcelain enamel on cast iron is heat tolerant and impervious to water and other consumables. A flawless pairing of form and function that doesn't quit, the Lodge Dutch Oven is an enameled cast iron classic that's great for preparing and serving memorable meals.

High quality reasonably priced enameled cast iron pot!
I am so happy with the quality of my purchase and the price!! I have a Le Creuset brand and a Staub brand enameled pot in different sizes but I needed a larger size to cook for a larger group. I bought the 6qt Lodge because it was a fraction of the cost of the other two brands. I cook for a large group once a month and noticed no difference at all in the quality between these three brands. The Lodge heats up quickly, distributes the heat evenly, stays warm for a while and cleans up easily. I also like the plastic clips they give you so you can protect your pot from chipping when you put it away. It's a beautiful pot!!

Easy to clean
Having been a demonstrator for several high end cookware products I must recommend this one. It is a breeze to clean. It cooks evenly. It heats quickly. The only negative for me is the weight. Cast iron is heavy and arthritis is mean. That is not the cookwares fault. It is beautiful to look at as well.

Cooks well
I'm not much of a cook but I love this pot. It's heavy but cleans easily and doesn't stick to the pot. Accidentally took the lid off without a pot holder, ouch, but I like it. I have a glass top stove so I'm a little afraid of cracking the glass with this heavy of a pot but it does well.

Enamel defective? Finish cracks after limited use
Update: I’ve contacted Lodge. I completed the form they sent and uploaded photos of the damage. Within a day I heard back from Lodge and they are replacing the Dutch oven at no charge. I’ve updated star rating to reflect their excellent customer service, but did knock down 1 star for the having a quality issue to begin with. I've used Lodge cast iron products before and have been very happy with them. This is the first of the enameled pots I have purchased. Love the size and the way this cooks. However very disappointed in the quality of the finish. Unfortunately it did not hold up well for me. Received as a Christmas gift in Dec 2022 and used it probably once per month since then. Photos show that on both handles, the finish did not last. For this reason, I would not recommend this purchase from Amazon.

Obsessed
I have this in red, and aside from my cast iron skillet, this is the only other pot I use when cooking at home. My mother has been saying for years she wants a Dutch oven like mine, so this is her mother's day gift and I'm so excited! Definitely worth the money. And comparable to Le Cruiset.

Nice pot
It is heavy duty. My one concern is when I got my pot it had one little chip or bump of pot that was not covered by the enamel. I am very cautious when cooking to use wood cooking tools only. I wish it didn’t have that little chip. I used it about three times and it got a stained no matter how long I let it soak. I scrubbed and scrubbed and it still didn’t come off. I love the size of the pot though. Very nice when you cook and you tend to eye ball ingredients and somehow it becomes more full than the recipe called for lol.

Easy cleanup
This pan is as good as any pan iv ever used. Worked in high end cooking school and they only used Stab’s. Pans of equal size were $300.00 plus. This pan as long as you don’t use high heat and don’t heat it dry you’ll never have a problem.

A Frugal Alternative to the "big name"
Lodge has a well respected history in the cast iron business, and I love to see that their enamel coated is no different. This is my second oven of this size (as I didn't care for my original one properly and wore off the clear coat) and I would gladly re-purchase again and again.

Excellent Dutch Oven
This Dutch Oven is great and I love it, however it is very heavy and when full of food very difficult to pick up nothing wrong with that but just be aware.
