Good inexpensive steam inhaler
After a recent bout with allergies and inconsistent results from my Neti pot, I decided to look for other alternatives and thought a personal steamer might do the trick. As I looked for a consensus, I noticed there's a huge price disparity between many of them and all of them seem to have a large cadre of haters who have had bad experiences. After quite a bit of research, I decided on this unit and so far I've been very happy with the results. The MABIS is a pretty simple device. There are two water chambers. The first one is the water that gets heated and I only put distilled water into that. There's a little measuring cup that tells you how much to fill it but I usually put in a bit more which I will explain later. The water in that chamber is pulled through holes in the bottom into another section which then heats it to the point where it turns into steam, and the steam shoots out into the breathing tube. Pretty simple. The second water compartment is essentially a little plastic drawer you slide into the device and it is not heated. Instead a tube pulls the liquid out and shoots it in a fine stream into the steam from the other compartment as it rises. This 1) cools the steam so it isn't as hot, and 2) allows you to use aromatherapy with the steam. I personally only use the salt packets from my neti pot in this water compartment as the negative reviews made me nervous to try anything too fancy. I've had good results thus far. A quick note - the water 'drawer' actually has two sides. The bigger side is the one where you put the 'aromatherapy' laden water. The smaller side is under the drain and catches all the water that doesn't leave the device as steam. CARE AND MAINTENANCE - I've been worried since the beginning that the device would stop working but I've had no issues since I bought it three months ago. I'm probably jinxing myself but I've been doing a couple of things that might help others and I thought I'd share them as it took me a while to figure this out. First, I've seen people put the suction hose down into the drain section of the 'aromatherapy drawer' to get a longer run time. Don't do that! While that will work and it will allow you to run the device longer, I suspect the longer running time puts a strain on the device's heating element beyond its design. The device ships with a measure device for the 'distilled water compartment' and if you use it the two sections empty at about the same time. I stopped using the measuring cup but I think they include it as a reminder so people do not use the device for too long (they might also include it for legal reasons as without the 'aromatherapy water' to cool the steam, the steam hitting your face increases in temperature real quick). I overfill the the 'distilled section' because I had a couple of uses when it heated all the water out of the distilled section and I started to smell burnt plastic. That's never a good sign so I make sure the water in the 'distilled' chamber never runs out (which is why I put a little extra in). Then key is to only use the device for as long as the water from the 'aromatherapy drawer' isn't empty. Once it runs out (about 6-7 minutes) - turn off the device, unplug it, let it cool a bit, pull out the aromatherapy drawer and empty the drainage water. Then open the 'distilled chamber' and carefully pour the very hot water down the drain. The residual heat of the device will cause the rest of the water to evaporate, which should help its longevity as leaving water in an electrical device is never a good idea. I also make sure to allow it to completely cool if I feel the need to use it the same day. Perhaps I'm being overcautious but I've used this device almost daily for three months and been very happy. I can see where I may need to replace the soft plastic mask someday as I can't image it will take the repeated heating and cooling forever. I can see no issues with hard plastic warping that others have reported but even if it broke today I'd know I got my money's worth. This device cost less my last three months of allergy medicine and I think it has helped my sinuses more than pills or my neti pot. While I hope it isn't something that needs constant replacement, it's been well worth the price so far (and I know I've jinxed myself).

Does it’s job
I would had given five stars but there was a piece missing, the measuring cup, which was to be expected that something would be missing due to the beaten up box it came in. But the machine works well and does it’s job nonetheless.

Love it— life changing!
I have always had an issue with sinus infections. My new doctor recommended that when I start getting a cold I should steam my sinuses and add an anti fungal essential oil to prevent a sinus infection from coming on. There aren’t a lot of steamers on the market that let you add essential oils but I found this one. There are a few moving pieces to using this contraption but once you get the hang of it, it is really fantastic! Highly recommend!

Works great
It clears congestion quickly after using, however, it can get too hot if you put your face too close

Supportive Therapies for Rabbit Pasteurella (Snuffles)
4-star review pending further data. In my years of rehabilitating rabbits, I have had my fair share of dealing with Pasteurella (Snuffles). I lost my Sabine recently to pneumonia, after dealing with colds intermittently for several years. Nothing I had tried appeared to really help. Recently after researching yet again, I stumbled on two things that are actually showing promise: VetRx Rabbit Remedy and using a steam inhaler (I ordered the Mabis steam inhaler). I have two more rabbits with symptoms: Jamy sounded a little sniffly, and Sebastian sounded like a percolator. The phlegm was in his lungs, just like with his sister, Sabine. Vetrx Rabbit Remedy: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005BV0KMQ/ref=oh_details_o05_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1, ingredients: Canada balsam, camphor, oil origanum, oil rosemary, blended in corn oil base. Steam Inhaler: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000AYYK5M/ref=oh_details_o06_s00_i01?ie=UTF8&psc=1. Notes: 1. Both Jamy and Sebastian have been on baytril BID mixed with Oxbow critical care and Forti-flora probiotics. I mix it all together with apple juice. Sebastian has been on antibiotic support care for almost two weeks with little to no improvement. 2. For Jamy, he gets the rabbit remedy drops, two by each nostril, twice a day (BID). 3. Sebastian gets the drops as well, after he inhales the steam for about 6 minutes, also BID. 4. It says in the instructions to heat the drops over medium heat on the stove. An easier method that is as effective and less work: I heat some water in the microwave so it's hot but tolerable to a quick touch. I then put the rabbit remedy with top in open position into the water and it warms quickly. I test a drop on my wrist to be sure it's not too hot. 5. I add 1/2 tsp. sea salt and 1/2 tsp Epsom salt to a cup of water and bring this to a boil in the microwave. I stir to make sure all the salts are dissolved, let it cool, and add this to the inhaler (see instructions that come with the inhaler). I store unused salt solution in the refrigerator. 6. I prepare the inhaler for use per instructions. 7. I turn on the inhaler and hold Sebastian's head so that his nose is somewhat inside the purple face mask that comes with the inhaler, but not fully as the steam would be too hot. I see the steam going past his nose and that he's inhaling it, proof in the tiny droplets that form on his little whiskers. He loves this! He sits perfectly still even and has started putting his little head forward without help! The inhaler runs for about 6 - 9 min. max if you add a little more water. Again, see instructions that come with the inhaler. 8. I then put the drops on the side of his nostrils and hold him close for a few minutes, gently tapping his sides where his lungs are. 9. It states in the instructions for the drops to add to drinking water. Neither Jamy nor Sebastian are big water drinkers. They groom themselves after I put the drops by their nostrils, so they ingest that way. I have been using the steam inhaler and drops for one week. Both bunnies are improving. Recognize that recovery from Snuffles can be long-term.

Unsuitable for the UK!
Very disappointed and angry. Item arrived with US plug on it and so is unusable in the UK without buying anexpensive adaptor. This should be clearly stated in the information. Do not buy if you are in the UK!

Not equipped for Australia
The inhaler arrived with an American electrical plug which I was not expecting so I haven’t actually used it yet. I wish they would tell you this. When you order from Amazon Australia you think you are getting a product you can use in Australia.

Steam inhaler for our kids
It seems Nice product... We are yet to use the same to write a review... Only one say why India cannot manufacture such products here rather than we importing the same from USA
