Petite and versatile studio clamp

I own theManfrotto 175 Spring Clamp andSuper Clamp , using them to mount gear in places light stands and tripods dare not tread. I needed another clamp and bought the Manfrotto 2941 Mini Clamp, basically a modified c-clamp. It's a petite clamp and best suited for lighter loads like shoe flash, LED or small CFL heads. Out of the box the 2941 is ready to rock, sporting a 5/8" light stand tip for attaching a light head or umbrella bracket. The included 013 Double End Stud spigot has both 1/4-20-Inch and 3/8-Inch male studs, allowing mounting of a ball head or cold shoe. The second socket is empty (no spigot) but accepts 5/8" accessories such as spigots and extension arms. The second socket uses a setscrew rather than a t-screw, probably because there's not enough space for two large t-screw handles. I substituted a 6mm winged screw to make socket more convenient to use, e.g.,6mm x 12mm Hardware Parts Stainless Steel Winged Screw Bolts . The wing is smaller than the t-screw and fits perfectly. One thing I like about this clamp is you don't have to muscle it: simply turn the knob to tighten down and you're good. It's optimized to grip tubular objects like tripod legs (rounded indents in grip surfaces) but works fine on flat surfaces such as bookshelves and chair legs. I often use it to mount a small hair light on backdrop rods and it grips the tube like glue. All in all this is a useful and well designed clamp for light duty use: excellent fit and finish, lightweight and much more camera bag friendly than a Super Clamp. I need a couple more…

Can't go wrong with Manfrotto

I have been a fan of the Super Clamp for many years, so when I was in need of something smaller to hold lights I was very happy to see that Manfrotto had a smaller version. I used these to mount LED lights to 1/2 inch metal pipes for a time lapse video project. They work great!
