Mounting for this light is a magnetic shoe that offers 40 pounds of grip magnetic. The shoe has holes in it to be permanently mounted as well. Once the shoe is installed the light can slide on and off the base. The light is locked into place when mounted on the shoe with a spring loaded button that pops up locking it into place.
