A workshop organizer and hose saver

I bought this for my wife's workshop where she uses a compressor regularly. This tool keeps the compressor hose off the floor when not in use, increasing the life of the hose itself, removing tripping hazards, and just making the workshop more organized. I looked at several of these retractable reels, and the MaxWorks hit the sweet spot for ease of installation and use, quality and reliability. We installed it onto a short piece of 2x4 and then mounted that 2x4 between wall studs. Looks good and has been reliable. Highly recommended.

Use through holes and bolts only, no screws. You'll thank me.

This thing feels heavy duty and very high quality. The retracting spring is smooth and strong throughout the entire length of reach and retract. The hose feels rugged but flexible. Looks like the company heard the complaints about the hose nearest the brass fitting getting damaged easily so now there's a secondary protector included. I nearly threw mine away bc it was tucked deep into the foam packing. Do yourself a favor and DON'T try to screw it from underneath to mount it. The reel and hose are very much in the way. Make a paper template of the holes and predrill your bolt holes. Mount it using bolts and through holes and it'll be a breeze. The slotted holes in the back of the mount are a big help too. Just dont try to screw it into position from the underside and you'll be happy.

Just a warning, It does NOT come with any supply hose to connect to the real.

It's a great piece of equipment. The only thing that surprised me is it did NOT come with any supply hose. Not a super big deal just more of a FYI.

The unit is very heavy and I would recommend two people when mounting.

This unit does let me use my air power through my whole shop.

Doesn’t last

Pressure is set at 150 psi, well under the 250 states in the description, and less than a year the hose is bubbling and now the brass female end is leaking where it clamps at the hose.

Good value for the money

Great hose reel. Replaced my Canadian tire plastic one and this is a huge increase in quality. Has a substantial amount of weight to it. Not able to mount on a single stud with the current placement of the holes so I drilled it out to have two holes in the centre and used 1/2 inch lags with 3” depth.

Hose Bulge

I like the reel. However the hose developed a bulge after a few months with very light use. Amazon return window is only 30 days. I contacted Maxxhaul directly though and they are shipping me a new hose under warranty. So I'm giving it 4 stars because of the bad hose and hassle, however Maxxhaul support was super quick to respond.

Great for your work shop

I have managed maintenance shops for over 30 years, so I have purchased many hose reels for my shops. I am very pleased with the robust construction and smooth action of this hose reel. If you are looking for a good quality reasonably priced unit for your personal workshop, I believe you will be happy with this reel

This is not light weight. But it is a solid retractable rose.

I bought this to replace my old PVC one that came with my compressor. The PVC hose stiffened during the colder months of winter and was difficult to work with. This one is soft and very easy to work with. It was heavy and took a bit of effort to properly secure it onto the ceiling of my garage but is a solid product once it got up there. Thanks!
