works well for basement egress lighting

Gives plenty of light to find your way out of a dark basement in case of a power outage.

Supports a remote light, but doesn't include a connector for it. Has NiMH batteries. No knock-outs

It supports a remote light, which was needed in my application. But it only has a connector on the mainboard, it doesn't include the connector that plugs in to it. In my case, the best remote I could find had plain wires and wire nuts. I had to cannibalize another fixture to get a connector. It has NiMH batteries, which is a nice step up from the NiCd typically used (or lead acid gel cells). It's not clear if the battery pack is replaceable, but NiMH batteries may last 10 years or so. At least the lead-acid type are readily replaceable. They need to figure out some standardization for these new battery types. No knock-outs for wiring to conduit. Expect to need a big fat drill bit.

easy to install

Installed these in an office and needed the one with a remote head. The pigtail for the remote head was well marked, and had a 7/8" knockout in the center for wire access and plenty of keyhole slot knockouts for multiple box types.

Works good

Easy to install and easy to wire outdoor remote LED light to. Unit also uses Nimh batteries instead of Nicad which should be a big plus.
