Mrs. Anderson's baking flour duster distributes precise coatings of flour to keep dough from sticking. Whether you're kneading bread dough, flouring cake pans or decorating cookies and pastries with sugars or spices, the flour duster is considered an essential tool for bakers, cake decorators and pastry chefs among their kitchen gadgets and baking supplies. The spring-action handle allows you to easily control the amount of flour with just one hand; add just a little or add more as you need it. Lightly dust flour on rolling pins, kneading boards and dough for bread, pasta and pizza, to keep them from sticking. Easily coat baking pans and sheets with flour before preparing your cake mix or baking your favorite cookie recipes. The flour duster, also called a flour wand, holds 1-2 tablespoons of your ingredient and dusts a finer coating than you could apply by hand. Simply dredge the duster in the flour, or other powdered ingredient, and squeeze to open and fill the duster spring. Position it over your dough and squeeze gently for a lighter dusting, or harder for a heavier coating. Show off your creative side - top artisan breads with flour or banana bread with granulated sugar, decorate cupcakes, cookies and tarts with powdered sugar, dust cinnamon or cocoa over crumb cakes, stencil designs on cappuccinos like a barista, even dust semolina under pizza dough - a simple tool that does so much more than dusting work surfaces! made of 18/8 stainless steel, the duster goes right in the dishwasher for quick-and-easy clean up. Brought to you by HIC Harold Import Co.

A must for dusting and not over-flouring
Keep this dry. I store mine in a freezer Ziploc so it doesn't make a mess in my cabinet. If you absolutely must wash it, then make sure it's washed very well and dried completely. I mean completely. (We all should know that water and flour turn into a glue that will get rock hard.) Best thing in the world to make sure that you're just adding a smidgen of flour to your mixing bowl when you're trying to bring bread dough together. Same goes for sprinkling flour on your counter when you're working with other doughs. This is an indispensable tool for me. I actually bought this one for my niece. She is getting into bread baking. I've actually had mine for the longest time.

I like the design, but the lid is a little loose
I use this for baking, but from the get-go the lid was a little loose and can fall off. Kind of misses the mark because of that! I still use it, but use one finger on the top to keep it in place.

Very well made kitchen tool
Durable is a relative concept. I suppose these could be more durable but would also be quite a bit heavier. As it is, they are well-crafted and I'm impressed with how well the lid fits and the holes at the top are just the right size to give a good sprinkle without adding too much or too little. I use one for powdered sugar for pastry and another for rice flour to sprinkle by linen-lined wicker baskets for bread baking. They give a good, even application. Good price, very good quality.

Great new kitchen tool!
I saw this tool in a video about making bread. Thought it would solve my problem with dusting flour evenly. It worked! I would mention that it is still relatively new...only used it 2-3times. It is a little hard for me to press together to distribute the flour evenly. It maybe because the tool is new. If you have arthritis, that may cause a problem for you. Cleaning it is relatively easy, but I was a bit worried about drying it thoroughly. I certainly don’t want it to rust. So far, I think it was a pretty good purchase at a very reasonable price.

Be careful cleaning for longevity
Worked awesome until I was a bit lazy or incomplete with my cleaning. Ended up with wet flour cemented within the tight/small ends. Couldn't get a brush or pipe cleaner or any amount of soaking to get it out. In desperation, I tried to go in through the coils with a toothbrush which inevitably bent them enough to render it useless. There's a spherical duster I've seen out there with half a face that is a mesh that can pivot open that is a bit more expensive, I'll likely go with that next so I can open and clean it without destroying it as I am inevitably stupid and lazy enough to screw this one up again if I decided to re-buy. :) Otherwise good product and an excellent price. If you're smart and clean it immediately and carefully you will be fine! Really I guess this review is just to say buy it, but clean it properly! :) Best of luck!

makes cleanup a breeze
clean, more accurate and 1-handed way to dust bench for kneading, shaping dough. Not big on 1-trick tools, but this winner is worth keeping in flour bin! 1. squeeze handle to open, 2. shove into flour bin 3. release tension on handle 4. knock off excess in bin 5. cleanly xfers to bench, 6. gradually sqeeze handle and shake over bench to dust it i bake at least 3x/wk, this makes clean-up faster & easier, no more flour everywhere, havent had to sweep floor after baking since i got this

Fun gadget for bakers.
Do you need this? No. But it is a lot of fun to get perfectly equal sprinkles of flour on your rolling surface.

Harold dredger
I purchased 2. Keep one for regular flour dredging and the other for white rice flour to dredge bannetons for sourdough bread. No problems found.
