Love this product
It was the first time I worked with Hardie Board. It cuts with ease and produces nearly no dust in comparison to cutting with a saw and blade. Highly recommend.

Not a bad product
I just finished siding about 2500 sq ft of siding and wanted to write a review after I was finished so I could give an honest review. I used both the shears and saw blade designed for the Hardy fiber cement lap siding. The shears were easy to use and didn't produce as much dust which seems to be one of the big selling points. I liked not having to put mask and glasses on everytime I used the shears. You have to get used to where it cuts, there were a couple times at the start where I had to either re-cut or get a new board out simply because I wasn't used to where the cut would be and was off by maybe a 1/4 inch or so, really no big deal. There were a couple times it seemed like it jammed but would start cutting again after a moment. The cuts it made were rougher than the saw though. When we wanted a smooth end cut we would use the saw blade because it produced a nicer, smoother cut. Most of the time it didn't matter because we were caulking over those cuts but there were a couple times we had to make a cut that wouldn't be caulked over so the saw blade was nice to have. If we had to rip a board we would use the saw blade most of the time because it would be a little faster but it did really kick out the dust. We also had to use the saw blade for the trim as the shears won't go through anything that thick. I would definitely recommend the shears as they were easy to use and most of the time very quick. They didn't produce the dust and held up nicely on the 2500 sq ft of siding we put up. I did like having the saw blade though as well. We only purchased one saw blade which lasted the whole project.

Obviously used tool
Unit was jam packed with fiber board debris! Looks like one piece was replaced because the broken part was included. I wasn't aware I bought a used item but I'm sure it should be fine.

Works Great if Used Properly
This is made very similarly to my old Porter Cable shears that I wore out. I saw some negative reviews about bad cuts. I suspect that it is mostly bad technique. As long as you keep the bottom of the stationary blade firmly in contact with and parallel to the siding, it cuts cleanly and accurately. If you try to lift the back of the tool, like to turn corners or for any other reason, it will shred and delaminate the siding at the cut and make a real mess. That's from someone having made literally thousands of cuts with this type of shear.

A piece of cake!
After struggling with overpriced blades that kept binding up, I ordered this tool. I found it to be super easy to use. Other reviewers mention some binding or chattering. I had that too, then noticed the cord had sunk into my cut and was skewing the tension. No cord in the cut, no problem. Another person complained he couldn't see his cut line. If you guide the the cut curl back towards the tool, you can see fine. Another plus is that you can stop in the middle of the cut, then continue whenever you are ready. Did I mention the lack of dust? Not being covered in clouds of silica dust was amazing. Even though this tool is a one-trick pony, it was well worth the price for what it saved me in time, stress, and effort. I highly recommend this tool for making long cuts on 8x4 panels.

Great for Hardie Backer
I purchased these shears to cut Hardie backer board for three rooms (19 sheets). I cut mostly 1/4 inch and although it didn't recommend it I did cut some 1/2 inch (.42). The 1/4 inch cut like a hot knife through warm butter only slower. Lines are easy to follow in either direction except for the curl that comes around every eight inches or so. You can travel fast or slow as the trigger is variable speed. The tool is fairly heavy although most all the weight rest on the material while using. As long as you keep the tool resting flat on the cement board and cut fairly straight it cuts very smooth and produces very clean edge with almost no dust. It is only as noisy as a 1/2 drill and very easy on your body. Slam dunk for 1/4 material and although it will cut the 1/2 it is much slower and they do make one for the thicker material. For round holes and lines not straight buy a Bosch jigsaw blade ($10) for cement board and an oscillating jigsaw (harbor freight $30 before 20% off). After cutting 19 sheets of varying thickness cement board the shears show almost no sign of wear and preform as when new. If your body is beat up, older or you just don't like a noisy room full of cement board dust these shears are worth every penny. They made the hardest part of the project so much easier. Highly Recommend these shears!

Works fantastic
I was worried that the 4.5 amp motor was not going. To be enoughbut it turns out that it actually has a 6.5 amp motor. This thing cuts right through the concrete fiber board like nothing. After a few cuts I had the hang of it. The best part is no dust. Update to this review. I have cut alot of cement board siding with it now and it is still working awesome. I will never cut another piece with a blade. No dust at all with this. It's even easy to cut an extra 1/8 if you cut it to long. I highly recommend these cutters.
